I work at a shop in San Diego, and run the FNM there. Ater tax, a single pack is $4.32 (3.99 before tax), and a draft is $15 for an 8 man draft with prizes at 6-4.
He has potential. I'll give you that. But the only way he's good is with a blink. He's alright with shapeshifter. I've seen too many people run 4 blinks and not draw a single one. At first glance, he just seems clunky. Though I'll admit I haven't tested him in blink yet. Just because something may win a game or two for you doesn't mean its the end all beatstick bomb. I try to look for reliability. Can he reliably dominate?
And I concur with happybounce. You might as well just throw akroma in there. She seems infinately better.
I don't really like the mana that you need to save for the tiger so I'm glad to see you took him out. The Djinn is only good if you get it with blink. It seems way too situational. If someone Extirpates your blinks, the rest of the deck can still function alright (I'm not saying its really good without the blinks, I'm just saying it can function), but without blink, Djinn is horrible. I'd replace it with something more versitile.
It seems like it would be a nice trick for limited. Especially seeing as the PTQ season comming up is sealed. As for constructed, I don't think this "combo" is going to see very much play.
My friend, Henrik, told me that most cards are bad. Which is true. There aren't any good cards, because good would mean broken. Imagine if Tarmogoyf had shroud and was indestructable. That would be good. Everything else must be rated as being better or worse. For instance in a GB rack discard deck, the goyf would be better than Woodland Changeling.
Overrun would be good but the mana base might have to be reworked to fit it in. Mirror Entity could be good in an aggro weenie deck, but it dies very easily making it a bad 3 drop against any burn.
Seeing tarmogoyf everywhere might be lame, but seeing as he is insane And he just got slightly better with the tribal and planeswalkers in the meta he really isn't going anywhere other than into more decks.
I'd personally run tarmogoyf over the avian changeling. If you're worried about the mana problem, I'd even suggest oblivion ring. The ring just seems like an all around better card than a 2/2 flier for 3.
The first foils weren't until Urza's, so there is no foil black lotus.
And I concur with happybounce. You might as well just throw akroma in there. She seems infinately better.
Return target creature from an opponent's graveyard into play under your control.
