Thanks to getting some store credit from the EDH league at my LGS, I got some fetches to work on the mana base. I've also made a few other changes to the non-land cards in the deck:
OUT
- 2 Islands
- 1 Swamp
- 1 Plains
- Sidisi, Undead Vizier
- Blue Sun's Zenith
- Hinder
- Crush of Tentacles
- Rupture Spire
IN
+ Polluted Delta
+ Bloodstained Mire
+ Flooded Strand
+ Hallowed Fountain
+ Toxic Deluge
+ Stroke of Genius
+ Windfall
+ Enlightened Tutor
+ Mox Opal
I'm not totally sure about the Sidisi -> Enlightened Tutor swap, but I think it's going to be worth it. Sure, Sidisi can tutor anything but there are a lot of good artifact and enchantment tutor targets. Also, 1 mana vs 5 and instant vs sorcery-speed are both big upsides. I felt I had plenty of counters and Hinder was the weakest, so it got cut for Windfall. Crush of Tentacles was a bit much at 6 mana, so Toxic Deluge felt better there. And Stroke of Genius is basically identical to Blue Sun's Zenith (the shuffle clause was rarely important) except that it is less color-intensive. I think the next pricier card on my list to grab is Mox Opal, probably to replace a land.
EDIT: I got a Mox Opal soon after posting this update so, rather than waiting until I updated more cards, or posting a separate update for a single card, I just changed this list.

Achilles posted a message on Magic Probability Calculator (Excel)Hey guys,Posted in: Third Party Products
Just thought I'd share my little pet project with you. I built an excel spreadsheet that allows you to see the probability of having at least one of a given card in your hand from the opening hand through turn 15. It should help you decide how many of each card to run. It's similar to the deep deck analysis on MWS (except that MWS is mostly annoying in a lot of ways).
Obviously you cannot enter a given card in my spreadsheet, but let's say that in my deck for example (in my signature) I have 8 cycle creatures. I can enter the number "8" into the correct box and see when I am likely to get a cycle creature. Same thing goes for if you can't decide between running a card as a 3 of or as a 4 of.
For example if you run 3 of a given card you have a 31.54% chance of having it in your opening hand, and a 55.64% chance of having it on turn 7. However, if you bump to a 4 of you have 39% chance of having it in your opening hand and a 66.5% chance of having it by turn 7. Anyway, I hope this helps in your deck building. Any (polite) feedback you can offer is appreciated. Thanks!

MTGNexus is just going to get better and better overtime with new features and functionality, where as Salvation is going to remain stagnate and realistically go backwards, because the staff who were maintaining the website here are now working on Nexus.
Maybe Salvation will get some new staffers to move things forward, but realistically that is unlikely due to the limitations that are already there.
MTGNexus really is a gift to Magic enthusiasts.

On that note if a bbcode syntax page is created with a full list of available options.

I think you could definitely make a more competitive version with Smokestack and Tangle Wire, with Null Rod as well.
Also it must be noted that you don't really have any ETB effects, everything is dies triggers, so a Torpor Orb can easily be played.
I think the only two cards are Geralf's Messenger and Josu Vess, Lich Knight, so replacing Josu with Torpor Orb can be done in more competitive metas.
As far as Sphere effects like Trinisphere and Sphere of Resistance, you'd be fine I think. You get to spend a lot of your mana on graveyard recursion creatures, which is not effected by these types of cards, so I think they could be options if you headed that way.

I love combos and I like playing with almost any card in Magic as I've been collecting for 25 years. So sure I could play Vintage, but there are only so many decks you can make.
So from a format point of view this provides me with the closest thing that me and my friends like. But we are super competitive.
So you can't have a format that is literally the most powerful format in Magic and expect people not to do broken things. That's just being naive.
The problem stems that people play the game for various different reasons, and it's when these worlds collide that the problems start.
This is a tough one, because worlds do collide, at your LGS, or online, or maybe even at a friends house.
How to fix it? Honestly I think going forward there needs to be officially rated tiers of play and so when you go to sit at a table you can join knowing what you're in for.
We already have cEDH. With more education, people will understand that it's literally an "anything goes" format.
Maybe a format called "casual commander" is officially established, and you have rules like "can only do a repeated loop 5 times maximum, and only one extra turn in a row, no effects that destroy more than 2 of opponents lands, and whatever else would be thought of as un-casual like.
I don't know exactly what this would look like, but it's certainly worth looking at because the demand is there. Supply..demand..how the world works..
It might involve separate ban-lists as they are separate formats, or you might just have effects not work to the full extent. Like an Armageddon can only destroy 2 lands of each player (players choice), and something like Expropriate can only provide one extra turn.
I think there is just too much passiveness towards progressing the game in a positive experience for others. Basically I would do a much better job of leading commander to a more healthy future...just saying, make me your overlord.

And you're right Kaalia, Zenith Seeker is going to draw absolutely no attention at all, and opponents will happily leave her alone.
But I think just playing large creatures without a way to get them into play other than simply doing it with a good old fashion mana base would make it no more than a very very casual kitchen table deck. Which is fine, but you've specifically labeled this competitive.
And I mean trying to play the mana denial strategy (land destruction) in this deck is like holding a shotgun to your head.
Sure there is the Sneak Attack, but that is literally one card in your deck. You just can't lean on it that amount. And then the Quicksilver Amulet does require 4 mana, and it is pretty slow.
I feel like a more low to the ground strategy is needed. Have you checked out the low cost Angel, Demon and Dragons?
For example Feather, the Redeemed is cheap and synergies with Cloudshift, Justiciar's Portal, Liberate, Long Road Home, Otherworldly Journey, Acrobatic Maneuver, Eerie Interlude.
Mirrorwing Dragon can help with this.
There are even Changelings to make use of the draw in a more low to the ground fashion.
Crib Swap, Graveshifter, Irregular Cohort, Mirror Entity, Taurean Mauler, for example.
I don't know exactly what is going to be a viable shell for her, but I think just replacing her with a similar Vast build is not going to work out very well, in my opinion.
