    And there's Steam Augury confirmed...

Strictly better than Fact or Fiction? I'm pretty sure most people beg to differ.

Definitely not. With FoF, you were guaranteed the best card out of 5; Augury means you get the 2nd best, if there is one.

You're contradicting yourself now. You say its a triggered ability and then you say its not. Pick one.

It's an ETB triggered ability, like Resto Angel or Fiend Hunter.

    Order of actions:
    1) Cast Hunter
    2) Do any responses to casting of Hunter
    3) Hunter resolves, and enters play as a 1/1.
    4) ETB ability is triggered.
    5) Do any responses to ETB ability.
    6) Ability resolves. Since Hunter has a G in his CC, he'll gain at least 1 +1/+1 counter.

At my Vacaville local, I asked a simple question to the shop owner: "What do you think is the best card in M14 overall?"

    He didn't even hesitate: "Hydra"

Of course he named the most expensive card in the set. He wants you to purchase it. Ask him the best card from Dragon's Maze, I'm sure he'll say Voice of Resurgence. Ask him for the top 5 M14 cards, he'll say Hydra, Archangel, new Garruk, Ooze, and Mutavault, because these are the most expensive ones, and he has a vested interest in selling them.

The actual best card in M14 is Scavenging Ooze, followed by Doom Blade.

  • posted a message on Why Did So Many Cards Have Different Artwork in Seventh Edition?
When MTG first came out, WotC didn't have much money, they couldn't afford to outright buy the artwork used in their sets, so they licensed the artwork from the artists. After a few years, as the print runs were larger and larger and they were paying out more and more money on the licensing deals, they wanted to own the artwork outright since they could now afford it. WotC offered to buy out the artists, and those that declined were removed from the set.

This wasn't some shady, strong-arm tactic; it was perfectly reasonable and practical. Those original artists got paid very well over the years and got plenty of exposure, so please don't think they were somehow exploited. Also, many new artists got to show off their talents and make a lot of money from the new commissions.

It's just as if you were renting a house because you were just starting out in a new job, and after a few years you could afford to buy a house, and you offered to buy the one you were renting. If the landlord said 'no', you would buy a new house and move.

As for 7th, they were trying to entice people in with new artwork.

I am done. I am saddened by the reaction in this thread. I am saddened by SCG's reaction to the incident.

That is your choice. Just as banning a rude and disrespectful attendee is SCG's choice.

    Everyone wins.

While this card is great for Limited (as most removal is), it's not very good for Constructed, in my opinion. The problem is that by turn four, I should have already played my 3-drop, and if my hand is clogged with three drops, then I built my deck wrong.

At 4cc, it's too slow vs aggro decks, and too reactive vs control decks. I'd much rather have a sweeper for 4cc, rather than sorcery speed spot removal.

Pretty sure that's the wrong artwork as well, the blue/purple one makes more sense.

    I'd like to see:

    Innistrad off-color Duals
    Cavern of Souls

And really, I'm ok with not reprinting Cavern of Souls, but I really want the Innistrad duals coming back.

Unless its Legacy or Vintage (or Mirage block constructed i guess :p )you can reorder your graveyard as you like, as long as it's in one pile.

Ah, I was only looking at the Comprehensive Rules. I guess after Urza's they stopped printing cards that cared about GY order.

You're allowed to put your graveyard in any order you want to. So shuffle it, pick randomly then reorder it how you please.

Actually, no you're not. There are cards that depend on graveyard order (like Death Spark), so you are not allowed to just re-order your graveyard any way you want.

Granted, I don't think any of those cards are in Standard at the moment, but that doesn't change the fact that you aren't supposed to shuffle your graveyard.

Firstblade is constructed playable, especially using Resto Angel, Legion's Initiative, and Deputy of Acquittals.

Deathrite Shaman and Deadbridge Chant go so well together. The only trick is getting the enchantment out.
