Was playing a game last night when my opponent used this card, but I don't know if they were using it correctly?
I had a mayor of avabruck out and transformed.
My opponent played pithing needle to try and counter his ability to create wolves at the end of my turn. Now they tried to argue that with their needle, his my mayor's passive ability to apply +1/+1 would also be blocked? I figured because it's a passive ability on all the time, it's technically not an activated ability? Also, how does this card work pertaining to the transform aspect of the werewolves? Transforming is an ability, so would that be nullified and he would be stuck a 3/3 instead of reverting back to a 1/1?
Would an attacking creature with hexproof be immune to celestial flare? Or because it's technically targeting the Player, the creature is still vulnerable??
Looking for clarification
I asked at one point if celestial flare prevents damage from the sacrificed creature, and got mixed answers. Some said if damage isn't blocked, creature dies, but damage carries through.
Here was the situation: I attack. Player casts celestial flare on me. I use a counterspell, and in turn they cast doom blade on my creature
All that damage that would have been dealt by my creature is now non existent?
Was playing a team game last night when my partner played allied reinforcements
He had a bala ged thief and proceeded to look at both opponents hands for 3 cards, which was met with a challenge. They claimed he could only look at one person's hand, and for 2 cards even though there are now 3 allies on the board?
I said 2 opponents hands, for 3 cards, because as each ally enters, the thiefs ability triggers...
In the case of kazuul warlord or ondu cleric the stack would only count once?
Ie. 1 +1/+1 counter distributed, or gaining 4-6 life?
Just looking for clarification as this is a reoccurring scenario
If my opponent has a 1/1 bird token with an enchantment or equipment attached to it making it a +3/+3and they populate, would that new token be a 1/1, or a +3/+3?
My gf has a courser of kruphix in her deck, and it comes out rather often.
It's ability let's you play with the top card revealed, and if it's a land, put it into play...
My question, is she can only use that effect once per turn? Or she can continue to play lands if they are the top card on her deck
We were under the impression she could play as many as she likes, sometimes playing 5 in a single turn? Or are we wrong? Would love to clarify, as I hate that card...
If I use a spell like hijack and equip stitcher's graft on the stolen creature, would the equipment stay on the creature as the turn ends, and the creature goes back to its owner?
Or would I have to equip to another creature I own in order to kill it?
I just created a white/red deck and threw a couple of Ride Down cards into it.
I've just got a question I can't seem to find answers to.
If I attack with a 2/2, and they block with a 7/7, technically, the ride down would essentially kill the 7/7, and the opponent would take the 2? But that 7 wouldn't go through to my creature?
And if I attacked and they blocked a me with a creature with deathtouch, nothing happens to my creature?
Just trying to determine how useful this card actually is
Also curious, in the case of celestial flare does the damage still go through before/after the sacrifice?
Just a silly question regarding this card and others like it. drana's emissary
Her ability let's you take 1 life from each opponent, and then gain 1 life...
Unless the card states "take 1 life from each opponent, and you gain THAT MUCH LIFE", if I'm playing with 1 or 4 people, I still only gain 1 life?
I was playing a game with friends, and we came across 2 questionable scenarios...
Scenario 1: my buddy played a resolute blademaster giving his creatures double strike...he attacked with a creature, so I played gift of tusks, turning his 4/4 double striker into a 3/3 elephant...the question was if that elephant gained double strike, or because it lost all abilities, it was just a 3/3
Scenario 2: opponent plays avenger of zendikar giving them 7 0/1 plant tokens...they play 2 lands over the next 2 turns, turning the 0/1's into 2/3's...they attack with 10 plant tokens (they had a Nissa out, giving extra plant tokens)...I play polymorphist's jest turning all those plants into 1/1 frogs...when the spell resides at the end of turn, all those plant tokens lose the +1/+1 counters, and go back to being 0/1's...correct?
My friends and I just started playing team games (2 headed giant) where we share 40 life between us...
If I'm playing a life drain/gain deck, and my partner is doing the same, and i play defiant bloodlord, seeing as how we both share the life gained, would his effect to deal damage equal to the life gained, work as my partner gains life for us?
