Would also add that the counter/token strategy is more of a green thing or something that you might do in Simic colors as opposed to in mono-blue.
Yes you are correct and make a good point. +1 counters, in the deck I'm building, isn't the main thing, more of a sub-theme. I'm tying to go wide with thopthers swarming around a few big bombs (Metalwork Colossus) and have a few slots left to punch up the small critters for a little more oomph. I have Panharmonicon in there too.
I'm building a blue artifact EDH deck going wide with thopter and/or servo creation. I am wondering what good add +1/+1 (or more) counters cards there are. I've also got Panharmonicon in the deck. What are good cards to consider?
Question for the R/G Energy Aggro folks: Would Nature's Way be a good card for budget builds? I don't see it pop up on the decks lists very often and I wonder why it gets left at home.
Thanks for the feedback Hoffmkr. I am going to seriously consider it.
I'm returning to the game and don't have a stock of dual lands yet. I'll add them as I get them at my LGS or online. I agree that Appetite for the Unnatural is situational but I keep looking at Top 8 decks and I see Smuggler's Copter in many of them. I figure Appetite can eat the copters (or whatever other vehicle). Servant of the Conduit is there to generate more energy and be a chump blocker and mana fixer if I'm desperate. But I see your point about it as an attacker. Maybe Aethertorch Renegade is a better idea.
The idea is to be annoying and blue, tossing out as many cheap Instants and Sorceries to remove counters from Thing in the Ice to transform it as fast as possible.
(on edit, finally read the newbie faq and learned about the deck tag.)
I'm returning to Magic after a 20 year lay off. I'm fascinated by the Thing in the Ice card and wanted to make a blue deck around that and Enlightened Maniac which was very successful for me when I randomly went to the Eldritch Moon pre-release weekend.
I am an old player returning to the game. I first played MTG way back in the mid 90's. I hung on to a few of my decks and cards between now and then. Last set I bought, and only one deck mind you, was Mirage. None of my cards are playable for Modern. I've started collecting cards from SOI and EMN, but that's a huge card gap of about exactly 20 years. How can I go about catching up to the Modern format?

Yeah? despite the 2 energy cost to keep it around?

The roots of this deck was Tolarian CC's "Big Mean Power Doubling Machine" video on youtube. I saw people doing R/G energy with Voltaic Brawler and thought Pummler and Voltaic would make a great pair.

So here's the deck I'm not sure how to get it in the deckstats box on this site, but here is the link: https://deckstats.net/decks/68892/568055-mono-blue-eldrazi-things
Any suggestions or feedback is welcome!
Its not raining dollars for me right now, are there some pauper suggestions for Modern you could make?
