If I have a Spellskite on the battlefield and my opponent casts bribery does bribery fizzle? Also, can spellskite be used against a counter spell and if so what happens.
Marchesa, The Black rose is on the battlefield along with Sneak Attack and Unspeakable Symbol. I play a creature using Sneak Attack, I give it a +1 counter then sacrifice it at the end step. Because Marchesa and sneak attack both have beginning of the next end step requirements when will it return?
If I have a Panharmonicon on the battlefield and I cast Magister Sphinx can I choose two different targets? If I cast Sharuum the Hegemon can I return two artifact creatures to the battlefield? Please give me some example of legal and illegal plays with Panharmonicon.
I have my Commander Marchesa, the Black Rose on the battlefield. I cast Dragonlord Silumgar and take control of my opponents Avacyn, Angel of Hope and place a +1/+1 counter on it. One of my opponents give Avacyn, Angel of Hope -9/-9 until the end of turn. The debate was that because Avacyn, Angel of Hope went to my opponents graveyard it doesn't return to the battlefield under my control at the beginning of the next end step. Just by reading the activated ability, I think it's pretty straightforward that Avacyn, Angel of Hope would return to the battlefield under my control because it was a creature I controlled. I'm not an expert on the rules and want to settle this because it's a pretty big strategy to my commander deck.
Also, Marchesa, the Black Rose says at the beginning of the next end step. If it was my turn, does it return at my end step and my opponents end step.
There's been some debate about "Cast" and when it applies to the creatures triggered ability.
If I use Aetherworks Marvel and choose Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger am I able to still exile two target permanents. The argue was that I'm not casting Ulamog, the ceasless, hunger, it's entering the battle through a triggered ability. The same situation arose with Aid from the cowl.
Also, in my commander deck if I use a Recurring Nightmare, can I still exile two permanents. Does all creatures entering the battlefield no matter how they got there still get placed on the stack?
I see your point, but, it's still becoming the target of a spell. I don't understand how the directly or indirectly targeting changes the definition. I'm sure you're right i'm not disagreeing. The verbiage needs to change then because Fumigate most certainly targets all creatures and according to the Hexproof definition it shouldn't. I play To the Slaughter against hexproof and I'm targeting the player, not the creature, so it should, apply.
How about indestructible? Indestructible states that keyword "destroy" doesn't effect indestructible. Would Fumigate remove them creatures as well?
And another hot topic, although changing the subject. Can you have two planeswalkers out at the same time with different names? For example: Can I play Liliana Vess and Liliana, The Last Hope at the same time?
A situation occurred in a casual game that caused some debate. I have a Sphinx of the Final Word on the battlefield. One of my opponents play Fumigate. We argued over the removal of the Sphinx. He is claiming that Fumigate removes the Sphinx even though it is Hexproof. Hexproof definition clearly says that the creature can not be targeted by spells or abilities. Fumigate is a spell, it targets all creatures, so Hexproof should trump the Fumigate. I haven't been playing for a long time and I even seen some threads saying the Hexproof doesn't apply in certain situations. If this is true than the Hexproof definition completely contradicts itself. Any insight or explanation would be appreciated.
If I have a Thalia, Heretic Cathar and an opponent casts a creature spell with haste. Can the creature with haste still attack or is it forced to tap before the combat phase.
I am fairly new to Magic the Gathering and some of its rules. I have a few questions pertaining to creature abilities.
Here's an example:
On the battlefield I have Odric, Lunarch Marshal, Gisela, the Broken Blade, and a Rancid Rats. When I attack, would all three creatures have flying, first strike, Deathtouch, skulk, and lifelink? I am unsure if the Odric, Lunarch Marshall only allows one creature ability or if it applies to every creature ability.
Also, if a creature has a ability that costs mana; during what phase can that be played? For example, Harbinger of the Hunt. Can I only activate his abilities during my first main phase?
