I think it's 3 for RUG, 2 for BtL. I've also been considering that 1 in the sideboard (of Bring to Light). I want to try being able to go up to 3 Anger of the Gods, 4 Obstinate Baloth, 3 Jace for a midrange-style plan post sideboard. Whether or not it's a good idea, I want to try it Grin

I have been testing an Engineered Explosives in the main and it has been great. Hopefully you have one somewhere int he 75.

How do we all feel about Izzet Staticaster in the side? In the day of Birthing Pod it was a champion. I have seen a lot of Young Preezys and Lingering Souls tokens in Mardu Pyromancer recently.

I’ve tried EE in the main et yes I think, it deserve a place en the 75 ! For Izzet Staticaster , with the amount of , Mardu, human , and lingering on the field , I want to give it a try . The only problem is that , it doesn’t synergise well with our sweeper !

For Jace, I don’t know what to think of it because I really like Cryptic , and with jace , the 4 drop number goes very high !

2/12/2018 Banned And Restricted Announcement - Jace, the Mind Sculptor is unbanned. Bloodbraid Elf is unbanned.

I think this means we are back on straight RUGshift. I know I will be testing Jace as a 3-of. Being able to slam him turn three to either Brainstorm or bounce a creature sounds tasty.

    Anybody with a potential list?

Yep. This is great news Smile

Yeah !!! big news for US !!! \o/

    @MuzzleMuffin,
Thanks , yes I’ve tried repeal at first , but since the change of rules for the double face cards , it’s less good I think ! EE was the replacement, because of the heavy meta with humans, DS , etc... I’m trying it now to help us in this matchup wich are difficult! It can also destroy bloodmoon even if there are 2 of them ! But I aggree with you that in somme matchups it’s a deadcard !

For supreme will , same thing I love the card ! But in the current meta here in france , it’s a bit slow ! And I’m trying to take the deck to GP Lyon in 2 weeks , so I am trying the 1/1 split with izzet charm for card like thalia, meddling , liliana etc... and for the last part I’m recently trying 1 abrade in place of the 4 bolt main , I don’t know if it will stay , but I wanted to give it a try ^^

Trying to make this deck great again !! Smile

Quick question : have you the need for crumble to dust lately in the board ? I’m thinking of cutting it ! What do you think ? Thanks

"With Caleb Durward's win at SCG Milwaukee last year and a finals appearance at SCG Philadelphia, Bant Spirits should get more consideration as a tier one deck in Modern.

Jim Davis: Fiction. Modern is a format where knowledge is everything. We hear a lot that knowing your deck inside and out is by far the most important skill in the format, which is why you see good players playing the same deck week in and week out constantly doing well. They know both the ins and outs of their deck, as well as how it lines up with all the important matchups in the field.

As such, there's a ton of value in Modern to be gained by playing a deck that your opponents will be unfamiliar with. Exploiting this lack of knowledge on your opponents' behalf makes things much more difficult for them, as it invalidates a lot their practice with the deck and forces them to make difficult choices on the fly.

Caleb's deck is a prime example of this.

I don't think Bant Spirits is a particularly good deck, but Caleb is a great player and Collected Company is a hell of a Magic card. The deck has a lot of play to it, many proven cards--like Spell Queller and Geist of Saint Traft--and it excels at putting its opponents into tough spots. It's not surprising to see the deck do well, but I doubt it could put up consistent results.

Gerry Thompson: Fiction. There's the whole "ham sandwich theory" going on here.

Caleb can play good Magic and basically never plays "real" decks, so eventually he's doing to do well, even if he were playing a ham sandwich. If literally no one else can win with a deck but him, it probably means the deck isn't very good.

Merfolk got some new tools in Ixalan block, but you rarely see the deck because it's a worse version of Humans. Any tribal deck is probably going to fail the same comparison, and Bant Spirits is no different. »

It made me very sad ... snif... Frown I had some hopes after Caleb performance for this deck in the GP Lyon .... but now I’m afraid ...

    Hello, thanks ^^

Yes abrade after tests gonna stay in the board, it did a great job ^^

For the 2 scapeshift , I was running 3 since the beginning , but with SFA ( and supreme will ) , we are digging much deeper , that’s the reason i’ve tried with only 2 copies , up the SFA to 2 copies ( wanted to see it more frequently and as you say, with the may close you can have 2 on board , one flip and the other as a « scry 1 » ) ; and it ’s been doing great so far !

Personnaly , search and supreme will have been great so far ! The first for card selection and acceleration/dig for scapeshift, and the second for the versatility ! It may cost one more than worldy councel but he option of countering a spell in the early game , is just great !

Here is my list : http://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=17351&d=307375&f=MO

The only changes I’ve made are 2 abrade in the board ( - 1 ancient grudge -1 nature’s claim ) , loved the card can be your 5-6 removal spell againt heavy creature’s deck like Human !

After some tests, I think , it’s worth it ! The flexibility of the card , compense the 3 mana cost !

How about Aquitect's Will in a Simic build instead of Spreading Seas, because we don't need the devotion off of the enchantment? Obviously, it does not colorscrew the opponent, but it is cheaper and thus lower to the ground, which is exactly the plan of MerfolkJoe's list and is also what Nikachu often sais in his videos. What do you think?

i really like that it's a cantrip, and the 1-mana cost is relevant in a deck filled with 2-drops. I'd probably consider it over sea's claim in the simic version if I wanted to go 8-seas or 6-seas effects in the maindeck.
    Also, it triggers Merrow Reejerey.

The problem with this card I think , is that you don’t denial the land you choose , it just add the island unless sea’s claim ! And the color/land denial is almost as important than the fact that it gives us the possibility to break through

PS : sorry for my miserable english writing
