Welp, looting got banned and I’m gonna move away from dredge now. I wanna try something a bit more grindy though. Unfortunately Jund and Abzan with sfm are out of my budget. Pretty much anything else will do though. I’d love to be able to grind as well as having an oops I win button. I’d like to be fairly competitive. I’d love to go to a go and be able to put up decent results. Smth like twin or red prison in legacy. Any and all ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

I don’t see how it competes with conflagrate. They have 0 of their casting coat in common. If anything conflagerate fills the bin even more for hagaak.

I apologize for this noobie question but how does the deck win on turn 2 with only one titan? It seems like it could do 16, 6/6 +2/+0 from the haste land and then double strike from the sunhome

Took apart my spirits deck and am looking for a new deck now. Not really sure what I want and budgets not really a big deal. I want to take it to a go and have a viable deck. I’m thinking goblins with the modern horizons goblins but I don’t know if it will be any good. Or dredge, but I am afraid of bans. Amulet titan also seems cool.
Where I’m at is if goblins get anything that’s where I’ll go but I’m not counting on it. I’m the long term, does dredge or titan have a longer life most likely?
Although if anyone thinks that goblins could ever day 2 a go then I’d go that route

Why Boros charm over helix? I get the extra point of damage, but being able to target creatures and the life gain matters. Especially in a deck with eidolon of the great revel

Elspeth could work, it’s very expensive tho at 6 cmc. However it is a very powerful card. Since you’re on a budget maybe dragon lord ojutai?

    Hello guys,
First of all I don´t know if this is the right place to post this, but the budget section is a bit dead right now.
I was interested on a budget UW control, I know it´s pretty hard but it´s my favourite archetype =D

The mana base is a bit clanky but it´s all I can afford. What´s ur opinion about this budget?

Yeah I don’t think this is the right place but whatever I’ll give me two cents on the deck anyway.

I think torrential gearhulk seems too expensive main deck mana wise. If you are looking for snap caster replacements I’d suggest mission briefing. It’s almost the exact same thing. Or you could forgo the graveyard altogether and pack Relic of Progenitus, which has been a topic of debate recently, along with maybe thirst for knowledge and talisman.Obviously no JtMS means no terminus but I think that supreme verdict is just better than settle a lot of the time, maybe 3-2 or 4-1 should be the split. Maybe play some number of baby jace too. Your a bit light on win cons without clique and collanade or jtms and Teferi. Last thing is that ojutais command does a pretty good cryptic command impersonation on a budget. Sometimes it’s even better, (against burn). Seems like a good start to us control!

Do y’all think the new Teferi deserves a spot main deck?

I'm putting him in my main as a 2-of to test out as soon as it's available on mtgo. I also pre-ordered my physical copies because I do believe it is playable in modern UWx decks (also, and maybe more so, in legacy and standard, but that's beyond the scope here).

In addition to the floor literally being draw a card, the floor is debilitating vs midrange, control and combo.

Creature decks:bounce a creature, draw a card, trade for an attack step.

Control decks: turns off all counterspells

Combo decks: turns off their reactive elements (think vines of vastwood in response to path to exile or think pact of negation, or shutting down the ability to eot gifts ungiven)

It's also serviceable burn decks - not being able to bolt it during our turn saves extra tempo, taking skullcrack offline and not allowing them to overload our Mana and counters by saving spells to go off on our eot and again on their turn.

Against Pheonix its pretty mediocre but it has some value in negating their surgical in response to our surgical or our snaps as well as forces them to flip titi on their own turn and turns of their countermagic post board.

The only matches I can think where I won't be happy it's in my deck will probably be dredge, Tron and valakut...but it can still cycle for 3 Mana with really thin value in these matches as well.

And what are you taking out?
    Timely?
    D-Sphere?
    Snappy?
    Clique?
    Removal Spell #5?
    Have?

I see Teferi replacing ancestral visions in my sideboard. It’s control hate as well as combo hate that can buy back snappy and clique and do shenanigans with detention sphere. Veto is just going to replace negate

I apologize if this belongs in the Esper Control thread, but if baleful strix were to get printed in modern horizons would we want to become Esper Control?

I second what was previously said, without coco, double drogskol become less likely and therefore the images can go. It’s also awful against gut shot

Does your build have coco or not?

It’s fetchable, unlike glacial fortress. And if we have two basics there is no reason to not fetch a dual. It gives us more colored mana. Plains plains island let’s us snap path. Plains stream island let’s us snap path or snap opt. In a deck with so many basics I see no treason to not run it over the second hallowed fountain.

Yeah, that’s a good point. I’m on a 1/1 split of hallowed fountain and prairie stream and think it’s actually really good in a deck with 8+ basics and 4 field of ruin. I’m not a fan of the farmland over prairie stream because it doesn’t allow you to do anything rot like stream does. The two life comes up fairly often. I’m a big fan of the split I’ve got and convinced the other uw player at my legs about it.
