That’s helpful. So if I wanted, I could choose to assign between 2-5 damage to the first 0/2, but can never do less than lethal until I run out of power damage?
I know the attacker chooses how damaged is assigned via the order. But if you are attacking with a 5/5, and your opponent blocks with 5 0/2s, can I assign 1 damage to each (maybe I don’t want them dying?)
Or do I have to inevitably deal 2 damage to the first 2 and then 1 to the third
I started playing Magic on and off about 2 years ago, and I know some stuff, like the origins of the Gatewatch. But I feel like every current story is a continuation of a story I am unfamiliar with. How do I truly get caught up to the modern story and characters? Is there a book or audiobook I can buy (I see Wizards does article stories). I love how the cards tie into the story. When I see cards that told a part of a story, it's really cool
I've only been playing Magic on and off for a year or so with my brother and friend. I like all new cards, but I am unsure the best option to build fun deck. Do you typical buy 1 or 2 boxes of a new set in order to try and complete your collection? I dislike buying individual cards. Also what sets have been particularly fun in the last few years that you recommend? I'm going for building decks from specific sets at first.
Thanks for the info. I ended up using tickets to buy about $35 worth of cards from mtgtraderbots, they were easy enough. I guess it's not worth opening any packs?
As far as commander decks go, they had like 5 pre-built decks, none of the other ones though, none of the new 2016 decks.
Unrelated question (if you know): I see you can use a freeform duel to use whatever card you want. Is it possible to have a freeform Commmander battle?
Thanks for the responses. Yes, my first creature was Akiri, the Line-Slinger. I figured that her strength changes based on who has it.
One last nooby question - can you equip your equipment onto any creature, or only yours? In general. Assuming the card doesn't specifically say only yours or your opponents creature.
So I had a fun commander battle today but during the duel some questions came up that we basically had to make assumptions on. So hopefully someone can answer these for me:
Scenario 1: I have a creature on the field that gets +1/+0 for every artifact I control. I have 16 artifacts, so his total strength is 16/2. My opponent steals it for the turn. Does his counters change based on the amount of artifacts he controls? He has 2 artifacts. So would his strength be 2/2? Or would it remain at 16 + the 2 he also has?
Scenario 2: My opponent steals a creature from me that I have equipment on. This equipment also says get +1/+1 for each artifact I control. When my opponent steals the creature, does the equipment go over to his field? If not, does it still refer to the amount of creatures I own or that he owns?
Scenario 3: I enter my battle phase and declare my attackers, my opponent responds by playing an instant that says switch control of all creatures for the turn. Does the battle end? What happens? I assumed the battle is interrupted, and ended the turn until control swapped again.
I guess I'm just terrible. Lol
I was thinking of what would be one of the best creatures in combination of a high power and toughness, good abilities in general
Or do I have to inevitably deal 2 damage to the first 2 and then 1 to the third
