  • posted a message on Archangel of Thune + Soul's Attendant + Tokens
Hi, lets say I have both Archangel of Thune and Soul's Attendant on the battlefield, then I cast Conqueror's Pledge. How exactly is the Archangel's trigger? Does the tokens enter the battlefield sequentially or simultaneously, does the first get 6 +1/+1 counters, the second 5x+1/+1 and so on?

If that's the case, can the opponent prevent the tokens from growing by killing them with, say, a Starstorm?

    Thanks!

Thanks a lot you two, specially Psychomagus!
Tbh I didn't realise the term "AS" was employed in Adaptive Automaton. I think I wouldn't ask if I did Grin Too glad I read so quickly that card so I could see your tip!

Will Adaptive Automation, when entering the battlefield, if I choose "ally" as the creature type, trigger other allies' abilities, such as Hada Freeblade, Oran-Rief Survivalist and so on?
    Thanks.

Cockatrice is indeed much better than Apprentice. But what about our .dec decks?? We need them batch-imported!

Ok, so I switched to Cockatrice. If it really works and flows easy like Apprentice, then farewell. Fantastic program!! Grin

But, a basic question: how to import my 1300 .dec Apprentice files into Cockatrice format? Frown

Google "ccghq mtg som" or "ccghq mtg Scars of Mirrodin"

If you can't find with this criteria, keep Googling.

Hi, I'm new to MWS. Seems to be a powerful program!
I only have one problem: the card display at the right side. As you can see, the card picture was supposed to fill the entire frame, but it doesn't. Why?

    Thanks a lot!
I thought of SBEs because I thought, very stupidly, about the possibility of the allies comming into play consecutively.

And sorry for the infraction. Frown Next time I'll do better.

    Hi
Lets say I have three alies in play, one of them Ondu Cleric (Whenever Ondu Cleric or another Ally enters the battlefield under your control, you may gain life equal to the number of Allies you control. ) So, if I cast Join The Ranks (put two 1/1 ally tokens into play), how much life I gain? I mean, do I put the tokens consecutively or simultaneously into play? When are the SBEs checked in this case? Smile

Infraction for repeated failure to use card tags. You need card tags in future posts. Read the Forum Guidelines. -Carsten

Humm, Im starting to get it!
But that's exactly what I need:
There are guidelines on how to get the correct mana ratio.

But it already helps a lot to know that turn-1 mana need rule.

Anyone else can point me to other set of advanced guidelines? Smile

No matter how much theory you put into computing your mana base, all of them don't mean didly if playtesting says otherwise. Playtesting is the only methodology that really matters.

Specifically, the article does not talk about _when_ a spell is cast. For example, green is far more important to this deck on turn 1 than white is, if only because a green mana producing land on turn 1 allows the casting of a birds of paradise or a noble heirarch. On turn 1, the only white spell castable is path to exile, which isn't the best turn 1 spell. It is far more important/useful to play a land that produces green early than it is to play a land that produces white, so the deck has quite a number of forests compared to plains.

Ah, that method is excellent if you want to have that WW by turn 3 or so, but when did Bucher need/want to drop a 4 mana XWW card? You're also forgetting that the decklist sports 4 Noble Hierarch, 2 Birds of Paradise, and a singleton Borderland Ranger for a total of 20 (potential) white generators.

I understand this peculiarity about the Noble and Birds.

All theory falls before the might of actual playtesting.

But come on, I know there are many variables involved, but this is still an exact science, right? Smile

Yeáh, that's a point: LD is not very fun to play against.
    Counters neither.
    BUT
They should be kept available. Counters have been overruled by many anticounter cards.

Hi again, and, before apologising for the "same" question again, I have too say that I already read deeply this, which DRey pointed me to.

Then curiously I looked inside the top 8 decklist of the last worlds' championship that took place in Rome, more exactly to Manuel Bucher's Bant deck, which endep up in 6th place. Look at it, with quantities, cards and costs:

    4 Baneslayer Angel 3WW
    2 Birds of Paradise G
    1 Borderland Ranger 2G
1 Captain of the Watch 4WW
    4 Emeria Angel 2WW
4 Knight of the Reliquary 1GW
    4 Noble Hierarch G
    4 Rhox War Monk GWU
    4 Steward of Valeron GW
    2 Ajani Goldmane 2WW
3 Honor of the Pure 1W
    4 Path to Exile W
    1 Arid Mesa
    4 Forest
    1 Island
    1 Kabira Crossroads
    2 Marsh Flats
    4 MIsty Rainforest
    2 Plains
    3 Seaside Citadel
    4 Sunpetal Grove
    1 Verdant Catacombs
If you follow that guide's instructions, you'll end up with "32" white cards, therefore 22 out of the 23 lands in the deck with the need to generate white mana. But the deck, as you can see, has only 13 lands that produce or can potentially produce white mana.

    So:

1- Whats wrong in my analisys or in that methodology?
2- Is there an alternative method? This is because I'd like to fill in the right formula in my Excel spreadsheet. I worked a lot so far, and then I saw this flaw in that method (or in myself).

    Thanks!

Edit: I forgot the most important part: I think this has to do with the 1.5 factor he tells us to multiply when dealing with a card that costs more than one mana of the same color. Look at how many cards with WW in their costs.
