Will Anathemancer change the face of the current metagame in T2 at all...?
I have a feeling that this card is going to have a huge impact on the format.

Apr 28, 2009Rix Maadi posted a message on [M2010] 11th edition is Magic 2010...yearly core sets, more info.I have a feeling they might reprint the 5 Commands from Lorwyn as these cards really represent what each color does rather nicely.Posted in: Rumor Mill Archive
Also, they've been looking for a replacement for Counterspell for a long time and I think Cryptic Command fills that void really well, without being overpowered.
Apr 21, 2009Hey Guys,Posted in: Standard Archives
I qualified for Nationals 2 weeks ago and have been contemplating which deck to run ever since.
I must say that out of all the decks out there I really like B/W tokens as it has very few bad matchups.
I do have a few questions/ideas and I was hoping someone in this forum has tried them and will be able to comment.
1. Why not add blue, via 3 x Mystic Gate and run Meddling Mage...? After Alara Reborn ofcourse.
2. Should we not be running 2 copies of Reveillark...?
3. In the games I have played on MWS I have often found that 5 mana for Cloudgoat Ranger is quite expensive and I was wondering wether Marsh Flitter is not the better option..?
4. Do we really need 4 x Glorious Anthem..? I have drawn a 3rd copy in many games where I would've rather prefered a creature.
Any comments ideas would be appreciated.
Apr 8, 20091. I played a game on MWS last night and had a Kitchen Finks ,with a -1 counter, and an Ajani Goldmane in play.Posted in: Magic Rulings Archives
In my turn I used Ajani's ability to put a +1 counter on my finks and then proceeded to cast Wrath of God.
I am correct in saying that the +1/+1 and -1/-1 counter cancel each other out right...? So my Finks will come back into play after the Wrath...?
2. Please help me understand the 'priority rule' better. After I successfully play a planeswalker eg. Ajani Goldmane, in my main phase, I have the priority right...?
Is my opponent allowed to respond to me using Ajani's ability...?
I am asking because it happened to me once in a tournament where my opponent cast Garruk Wildspeaker and in response to him using the +1 ability I wanted to Incinerate Garruk, I was told that I cannot respond..?
Mar 18, 2009My opponent has Relic of Progenitus in play, in response to him using the 2nd effect (i.e. removing all cards from g.yards) I cast Krosan Grip on the Relic.Posted in: Magic Rulings Archives
Does the ability reach the stack and does it resolve...?
Feb 16, 2009I started playing this(Bant variation) deck by chance. I collect Angels and as luck would have it, in 5 Shards pre-release/launch events I opened 4 Stoic Angel.Posted in: Standard Archives
I would never have dreamt of running Bant in a tournament, but I got bored with T2 and decided to throw my Angels into a Bant deck, to great surprise.
I have since fallen in love with Bant as you have access to so many powerful cards and effects in the 3 colors.
My version does look a bit different than some of the ones in this thread:
My deck is a bit more midrange and less aggro than some of the ones on this thread, but I have found that it works very well for my metagame.
I prefer Birds over Hierarch as I have often won games by chumping Demigod for a couple of turns and I have killed many Planeswalkers with 1/2 Birds thanks to the Liege.
Gaddock Teeg is just awesome, esp with Banefire being so popular right now. He also shuts down any Ultimatum dreams.
I do realise that Reveillark looks a bit odd in this deck, but he has worked really well for me. I have refueled my hand in many games thanks to Lark/Mulldrifter reccurrance.
Feb 4, 20091. Can one Stifle Conspire...?Posted in: Magic Rulings Archives
2. My opponent has Astral Slide and Eternal Witness in play. He cycles a card sliding the Witness out. Before end of turn I destroy the Astral Slide, does the Witness still return...?
Nov 24, 2008Rix Maadi posted a message on What are the chances these will see print in 11th Ed.?Posted in: SpeculationQuote from JiyorAbsorb can't kill a near dead opponent and Undermine can't keep you in the game longer. So neither is better than the other.
Ask yourself, which would you prefer, Kitchen Finks that gains you 2 life or Kitchen Finks that causes your opponent to lose 2 life..?
I think the answer to that is, if you're playing control you'd want the life and if you were aggro vice versa.
I personally think Absorb is better, cause as a rule you are playing control when you run counterspells, which means you don't really care about getting your opponent on a faster clock.
In terms of reprints, I must agree and say the only one with a genuine chance is probably Nights Whisper.
Oct 28, 2008Posted in: Standard ArchivesQuote from rantipoleAren't you worried that the Keeper will give your opponents mana? It looks like a card with a large backfire potential. I'm not sold on Flameblast Dragon in this deck either.
I did worry about the Keeper to be honest, but since I have started testing him I have found that not many decks play a lot of basic lands, RDW and Mono White aside, but QnT, Faeries and Reveillark can't gain anything out of Keeper. I have not played many games vs RDW, but I think he should be sided out vs them.
Gift of the Gargantuan is such a great card I love it in this deck, it helps you sort out your mana base as well as getting you that Razer that you need.
I tested with Birds instead of Bloom Tender last night and I think I do prefer the Birds as sometimes your Bloom Tender sits on the table able to give you only green mana. I think which one to play will come down to a metagame choice.
The Flameblast Dragon could be taken out, I just played him as a one of for fun. In the right situation he is very good.
My favourite part about this deck is when your opponent Wraths the board only for you to drop a Razer the next turn, priceless.
Oct 27, 2008I traded for 4 copies of Realm Razer this past weekend and I've been trying to build something around it, with some success, although not enough to warrant playing it in a serious tournament, yet.Posted in: Standard Archives
My thinking at the moment is to just ramp up to 6 mana, drop the Razer and win the game. I am currently using Keeper of Progenitus and Bloom Tender as my mana accel.
I have found that Bloom Tender is simply amazing in some match-ups, but sub-par in others. The Keeper on the other hand is always good.
My list looks something like this...
I am in 2 minds about wether to include Birds or not, but I like the Keeper as he is much harder to kill.
I do like the idea of a turn 2 Gift into a turn 3 Keeper and a turn 4 Razer.
Still needs a lot of work though.

I love this deck, my list looks like this:
Oct 13, 2008I have been trying to think of ways to abuse Ad Nauseum and I came up with this combo...Posted in: Decks for Critique
Ad Nauseum + Hypergenesis
Obviously you'll need to include that white split second card that stops you from losing the game, the name has escaped me, or something like that.
So the idea is to Suspend Hypergenesis on turn 2 through some acceleration from Birds/Elves, then cast Ad Nauseum on the turn before it goes off, draw your deck and win the game using 4 x Kokusho the Evening Star or whatever you fancy to finish the game.
A sample decklist...
4 Overgrown Tomb
4 Llanowar Waste
4 Birds of Paradise
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Kokusho the Evening Star
4 Eternal Witness
4 Ad Naseum
4 White split second thing
