if people think Mox Opal is crap, and opens foils, I'd gladly get them off of you. I think Elspeth doesn't do enough compared to 1.0, and Tempered Steel.... if it wasn't so linear, I think it would be a lot better, but as is... it probably has some hidden potential somewhere.

someone already said a dredge deck, but it could be tested for Legacy dredge. pay some mana, get a dude, sac for Cabal Therapy and some zombies, do it again, make Iona, win.

It's probably worse than a lot of options, and 2 mana is the max you'd want in play for Dredge, but it's possible I guess. Maybe for EXT?

It is also worth noting that every ability of Planeswalkers is an activated ability (Loyalty ability is an activated ability). These are written without the key ':' explicitly on the card. Every other activated ability I can think of does follow the [cost]: [effect] pattern.

Actually the planeswalkers do have colons after their costs. It's somewhat hard to see, but they're definitely there.

Give me an example of the skill testing cards you wish to see.

I said Thoughtseize, the River of Tears cycle, and Char. I believe those are all skill testing cards for newer players to understand. Understanding what the best choice for a Thoughtseize target or when to play your lands to get the right mana or when Char becomes a good card to cast is skillful.

I would like heavy skill testing cards to come back. Thoughtseize is just like Duress unless we get Duress back again. I'd like to see the River of Tears cycle made, as well as Char, or a Char like-cycle, where it does something at an aggressive cost with a drawback, which is acceptable like Char. Also, I grew up in the Ravnica block, and Char was one of those spells that most new players perceive as a bad card, but in fact, it's very good.

I also play Eternal, so I'd like all the stupidly powerful cards to be reprinted but I doubt any of them. Perhaps Choke and other enchantment color hosers? If the core set is going to be mono colored, it makes sense.

But for the most part, gimme some skill testing cards!

Just based on what people have said (and my dream of a u/w control planeswalker, imma go wit dis.

    Gideon ...... 2UW

    +1 pithing needle/meddeling mage
    -1 balance
-13 silence your opponent for rest of game

    3

I like this idea a lot, since I've always been a fan of Pithing Needle and Meddling Mage. I'd really like to see UW or W again. -1 for balance is nice for say, legacy/vintage, but for Standard at least, balance would be pretty bad, because the control player would get owned by their own PW. Then again, they gave wheel of fate to Chandra Ablaze. I'd personally love to see Balance though, because I'm an eternal player.

I'm pretty sure the ultimate wouldn't be silence forever though, because that's even better than Mind Sculptor's ultimate. Also, the + ability, or the - for that matter wouldn't be Pithing/Mage unless each use switched to a different target, but just imagine if it kept selecting targets while keeping the other ones active, that would be pretty good, and that would be a nice ultimate. Such as, -8 Choose 8 cards from the game. These cards cannot be cast and their activated abilities cannot be activated. -2/3 could be Silence for the next turn cycle, meaning if you activated it on your second main, the effect wouldn't wear off until your next second main, which would be REALLY cool when you get into the combat phase etc.

As for the + ability, it'd probably be 1 if the - is 2, and 2 if the - is 3, depending on the beginning loyalty. (Is there any planeswalker than cannot use their - when they are first brought out?) Target creature gains prot from 1 thing would be very interesting as well for a +, since I really enjoy skill-testing cards, and a planeswalker like this would be very skill testing. What I mean to clarify, is it would be worded in a way, then when it resolves, you can choose a color, subtype, super type, CMC, anything, but only 1 thing.

What made Mirrodin broken was not just the artifact lands, but the combination of Skull-Clamp, Aether Vial, Disciple of the Vault, and Arcbound Ravager. Skullclamp and Vial on their own are way beyond the normal power level for an artifact. I really want to see the Mirrodin/Kamigawa abilities spread out to include other things, like Splice, Affinity, and that other one with picking up lands. In replying with what someone else said, EE is extremely powerful and I highly doubt we'll see it reprinted soon, but I'd love to get a chance to get some foil EE's.

Maybe the thieves weren't after art proofs at all.

Maybe they thought the satchel was full of cards ?

And that makes it ok... how? No matter what, theft is wrong. As for the fight between the mod and other guy, cmon, really? I don't want to get involved with your fight, but do you think the thief would come into this thread? The thieves in Chicago I read were professional thieves, this may be no different. Just saying. Never met Rob, but I like his work, and I hope these people are found.

See whoever is going at GP-Minneapolis.

21 packs, 0 fetchlands, had to trade for a Marsh Flats and Scalding Tarn. However they were both trades in my favor, so w/e. Guess I'll have to trade for em or draft and win.

Being a legacy player, I'd like to see if Devout Lightcaster sees any play, and Pitfall Trap looks like a good card to stop Phyrexian Dreadnought, Tarmogoyf, or any other grounded fatty. I'll definately get a foil Pitfall Trap.

Just make all of your opponent's creatures attack HIM.

You can never have your opponents declare an attack on himself. You can have them attack you, and have him make bad blocks and have all his creatures die, but otherwise, that's all you can do combat wise.

Unless you mean, have his creatures attack Sorin so that he is open to a counterswing. That's possible too.

About Vampire Lacerator, he looks very exciting in a Sui-Black build, as he is strictly better than Carnophage(not Sangrophage right?) after your opponent is down to 10 or less, but other wise, Carnophage is better. I've never played Sui-Black so I'd have to do testing to see which is better. Working with Nocturnus is a good plus, but unless he becomes seriously playable, or the deck adds top or something, Carno is still a little better. Also, Carno is a Zombie isn't he? That works with Sarcomancy and Cemetery Reaper.

For me, I'm an Eternal player, so I'm just gonna be glad when I can get a foil set of Lightning Bolts without finding the judge ones for 40 a piece. As for Standard, Mill is a really good deck, and red needs something to get past the mill decks coming out, since Tezz and Font will still be around. I'm sure someone can find some good fogs like Knight-Captain or something. The Jund block decks certainly got a huge boost though, Bloodbraid into a bolt. I don't see why everyone is getting so upset though, we don't even know half of the set yet. We barely know a fifth. Everyone needs to chill out. Yay for Bolt. If things get unbalanced due to M10, they'll correct things in Zendikar.

This card may have potential all over the place, from early ultimatums and whatnot, and about wiping all the lands, it would actually just wipe out all of your lands, because it would come into play, and then it should (if my magic rules are correct) just blow up because of legendary status, and then the other player won't have to sac 3 lands. Also, about Tooth and Nail, why not just play Kiki-Jiki and Sky Hussar for infinite damage instead of relying on onslaught fetches to kill them? Also, if this gets played in extended, Vesuva will be probably good again. Either way, it casts multiple planeswalkers, empyrial archangel, the indestructable green dude from shards?, and many more very deadly options.

The reason money is required is because they aren't sure if they can make it to Seattle with the funds they have on them, otherwise they probably wouldn't care too much. I don't have a Standard deck and don't want to go from Wisconsin to Seattle so I decided to stay home.
