    Red mana doesn't empty from your mana pool as steps and phases end.
    Red spells cost you R less to cast. This effect reduces only the amount of colored mana you pay and can't reduce the amount of colored mana you pay below one mana. (For example, if you cast a spell with mana cost 2RG, it costs 2G to cast.)

    The DCC: July 10, 2014

    Welcome to the DCC!
    If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post in the All-New DCC Discussion Thread.

    How To Play

    How does this card-making game work? It's simple! Whenever your card receives a vote in the day's poll, you receive [1] point for the month. If your card ends up with the most votes for that day, you will receive [2] additional points for the month. In the event of a tie, each person who tied receives [1] additional point. At the end of each month, the person with the most points on the scoreboard wins that month, then the scoreboard is cleared for the next month. You can participate in as many or as few days as you want in any month.

    Rules

    • Each day you may post any card you want. On the next day all of the posted cards will be put into a poll the thread as long as your card didn't get disqualified - see the next point for more details. If you post more than one card in a DCC thread, only the first card you post will be taken.
    • When you vote, you need to make exactly two votes for two different people. Vote for the cards that are listed in the first post, not other cards being posted in the thread. If you notice that you've only voted for one person, include your second vote in a post, even if you're not submitting a card.
    • If you want to change your vote for any reason, post that change in the day's thread (you can include it with your card if you want). Changed votes in the discussion thread will be ignored.
    • Voting for only one person, for three or more people, or for yourself will earn you an asterisk by your name in the monthly leaderboard. So will failing to vote if you've posted a card. (We're not going to do anything about people who don't vote or post cards; that would be kind of silly.) This indicates that you're on probation for the next 21 days. If you're on probation and you make another improper vote, your card will be disqualified. Repeated disqualification is grounds for warnings and/or infractions for not following the game rules, so please don't do it.
    • Voting for everything in the poll will be grounds for a lifetime ban from the DCC. Don't do it. It just wastes the thread creators' time.
    • If you wish to post a render, please use the hyperlink option when posting your card and make the card name the image link. Renders are usually large enough to clog up the list, so submit a text-formed card and (optionally) a link in the name to the render.
    • This thread is just for your card submission. Take your questions/comments to our discussion thread.
    • Anyone can post the new thread for the day. When you post it, make sure that:

      • You have a poll in the thread;
      • You include everyone's cards (excluding cards that have been disqualified);
      • The poll is marked as public and multiple choice with a one-day time limit; and
      • You update the leaderboard with the previous day's scores.
    (An easy way to post the new thread is to hit the multiquote button on every post in the previous day's thread, then click Post Reply. Select everything in this post, copy it, and then paste it into the first post for a new thread. You'll have to clean up a few small things, like quote tags around the opening post and the previous day's cards.)

    "Add one mana of any color in the color identity of a land in your graveyard to your mana pool." is an acceptable solution (in that it fits into the current rules), though it means certain lands that could normally only produce colorless mana will give colored mana through this ability.

    The alternative is editing CR 106.7 so that it isn't limited to permanents, which is left as an exercise for the reader.

    It's Zoomba vs. Am Shegar here!

    You make your way home, your wife in tow with her voice returned. Waiting just outside, jaw slightly agape, is the sinister being whose book started this whole process. "Good to see you," he offers. "And I see you've recovered your lovely wife."

    "No thanks to you." You shrug and try to move past him into your home, but he continues blocking the doorway and laughs.

    "Entirely thanks to me. I gave you something of value, and I want payment now."

    Your wife glares at him. "He wouldn't have signed his soul over to you--" You put a finger to your lips, and your wife stops in mid-sentence.

    "I want out. As you may have guessed, I've been stuck doing this for a very, very long time. Not even a tiny bit of a vacation. I want to see places I've never seen before - and I've seen everywhere around here. And you? You've seen many places. What I want for payment is for you - and your wife, if you and she would like - to take up my job..."

    You raise an eyebrow. "You want us to rule over the lesser demons while you're free to wreak mischief among thousands of worlds." Your wife laughs gently, and you continue, "If I take this position, there will be one additional proviso: we get your immortality. You get to wander the worlds for fifty or a hundred years, and then, well..." Shrugging, you point at your assistant. "Just because I'm stuck there if I accept doesn't mean I can't call in favors to drag you back."

    He laughs. "So I assume we have a deal, then?"

    You nod and shake his hand, and your wife shakes his hand as well. He disappears moments later in a flash, and you start laughing.

    Your assistant looks at you curiously. "What's so funny?"

    "Well, let's just say I have a little bit of a task for you. Find out who I have to bribe, or whatever, to take over Cierou's purview over the afterlife for so many planes."

    Two years pass. The job of building Hell - such as it is - goes slowly, but it's something different to do, and you and your wife are reasonably happy despite the dismal conditions.

    Then your assistant returns, smirking. "Contract, boss. They want a sign of good faith that you're actually up to the job, and there's a bond of some ungodly amount that needs to be posted as well--"

    You wave one hand in a gesture of dismissal, amused. "Of course they wouldn't want it to be easy. Let's get this started, shall we?"

    Challenge: Design five cards - a land, two other permanents, and two spells - with a common color identity and flavor theme relating to the afterlife you'd be in charge of. There must be some obvious progression between mana costs (including the "0" of the land), and none of the cards can be white.

    The entries:

    The DCC: July 8, 2014

      • You have a poll in the thread;
      • You include everyone's cards (excluding cards that have been disqualified);

    Note of the Day

    Time to derp about and not do anything productive.

    Honestly...it was just the card's name.
    That's fine. I couldn't come up with a better name for it at the time, or later that night, and it is a decent "let's be a dick to the minorities (of creature types)" card.
