Mana base is 6 fetch lands and 8 bg duals the rest being swamps.
I'm not very interested in adding extra colors unless there's a compelling enough reason. Blue is the most interesting choice, and then we start looking at more traditional bug control which again is uninteresting. I like the simplicity of the build.
Somethings I'm uncertain on/wonder about:
the possibilities of some manlands with the 4b cost if obliterator
The value of the specters vs. How fragile they are.
Value of dark rituals considering its more control based than aggro(if I'm using the right term to mean aggressive) and alternatives if I were to drop them.
Well, quite a few legacy only cards actually. I personally don't care for any of the other formats. I'm not into constantly buying new sets of Cards and having the value of them fluctuate wildly in less than a year.
Thanks. I agree that in a side to side comparison obliterator is superior to the demon. What I'm also considering is swapping out spiritmonger for hypnotic specter as well. That would reduce the curve significantly and allow for more card advantage as well as more folder for deathrite shaman. The specters are easy targets though and don't have as much of an immediate impact as the mongers. As far as having 8 4+drops it hasn't been an issue outside of redundancy when drawing more than enough. I'll post a deck list when I get a chance. This is technically legacy with the use of shamans and pernicious deed.
This is my first post and I'm not sure where I'd put this to get the best exposure so I figured general couldn't be wrong.
Anyways I run a variant of bg rock and my creatures are 4 spiritmonger and 4 desecration demon. It's pretty budget friendly but those two creatures seem to work very well. Now if I felt like springing the cash to get some phyrexian obliterators, the question I have is what creatures to drop? Mongers or demons? Dropping the monger lowers the cost curve and 4b cmc for th p.o. Isn't a problem. Monger is resilient though and has good defense potential if I'm a little late to the offense. Demon is aggressive when creatures aren't present and somewhat effective in removing them when they are. Most of match ups have displayed a relatively low presence of opposing creatures even in a token generating elf deck due to the amount of removal I play main deck.
What are your opinions?
