Yea id be pissed if this is the last Ugin PW card we get. He also deserves another spotlight in story. Sorin and Nahiri got multiple spotlights recently and Ugin who is arguably more powerful than both of them only , only has a few supporting roles? He holds the same underlying influence that bolas does, yet he has har such little involvement. Sorry, just my opinion

Because I have literally nothing else to do for a couple hours, I decided to compile a list of all planeswalkers and my predictions whether they'll die or not. dot dot dot

I agree with most of your list. It would be completely pointless to kill off characters like Ashiok, Tibalt, Ob Nixilis, Huatli, Angrath, Narset, and Arlinn who don't have any real connection to the overall plot or the main characters. I don't really see them killing off Saheeli either; while her death would have an impact on the Gatewatch, she's a very popular planeswalker who still has a lot of untapped story potential. I can see them killing off Kiora though, she's just relevant enough for her death to matter and the writers don't seem to know what to do with her anymore.

I also don't see them killing off characters they just introduced like Teyo, Davriel, and Yanggu, it's a complete waste of potential. (Also, it's been confirmed that Teyo will appear in the sequel novel, and Brandon Sanderson said that we'd see Davriel again.) But I disagree with you about the Wanderer, it's clear the story team is building up the mystery of her identity and have plans for her down the line. If any of the new walkers are going to die, it's going to be Kasmina, she seems like the kind of generic hero character who was created specifically to be cannon fodder.

As for the guildleaders, I could see any of them dying to redeem themselves by turning against Bolas. I don't think they'll all die, but I'd be surprised if none of them did. I see Kaya as the most likely to survive (she's got an interesting backstory and a unique power), and Dovin and Domri as the most likely to die (there's not much to them beyond "Lawful Stupid bureaucrat" and "Chaotic Stupid anarchist"). I think Vraska and Ral are somewhere in the middle, I'd prefer them to make it through, but I could also see either or both of them going out in a blaze of glory.

In terms of the Gatewatch and their allies, it's obvious enough that Ajani, Jace, Chandra, Gideon, and Liliana will all survive. And I strongly doubt Karn will die, they need him for the upcoming New Phyrexia storyline. Jaya and Nissa's deaths seem all but guaranteed, though, for all the reasons you mentioned. I could see Teferi going either way, there's not much left to do with him as a character, but the writers might not want to use the "old mentor figure sacrifices themselves to save the younger heroes" plot device twice in one story, plus they might not want to thin the Gatewatch's ranks too much and there's still the Zhalfir plot thread left hanging.

I'm almost certain that Bolas himself will die. I also don't see Vivien surviving, given that her entire purpose is taking him down. Similarly, I think Sarkhan's a goner, he's just too tied to the conflict between Bolas and Ugin. That said, I could see Samut dying for much the same reason; her story arc is entirely defined by what Bolas did to her homeworld, and while it would be incredibly bleak for her to die here, this is shaping up to be a fairly dark story overall. As for Ugin, I agree that it would be thematically appropriate for him to die alongside his twin, but I could also see the story team wanting to keep him around for future arcs.

Also, Sorin definitely isn't dying here, and neither is Nahiri. Mark Rosewater said that War of the Spark won't be the conclusion to their story. Although I do hope Ugin puts them both in their place at some point.

Ok . I’d like to start off by saying I havnt done a whole lot of research, and basically skimmed threads for info. That being said the question I’m about to ask may have been addressed. The question is as follows:

WHERE IN THE **** IS UGIN?!

That is all. Thank you. This has been a psa from, the multiverse.

    So about that gatewatch......

So this extremely far fetched but I thought it was a intersting find (please let me know if this has been brought up before lol) but the reprint for spell pierce has some interestin lore . The card reads , "A fool's fire is quickly quenched." —Shaper Kumena. The card clearly has Kuemena countering a flame. I do not remember reading about any beast or character being able to attack with fire, so naturally i made the most irrational conclusion, Chandra. I really dont know how or why Chandra would randomly show up. considering there is no inkling or hint at her,but itd be pretty sweet , and possibly lame , if she did. Once again if there is an obvious explanation to the spell pierce reprint's flavor and art , then let me know because i missed it obviously lol.

so who are the other (3?) gods? While only speculation, one can come to the conclusion that they were the only gods to resist Bolas 's control. This either lead to their termination, or imprisonment. If they had t89he ability to resist something the other Gods could not , then one could only imagine they must be insanely powerful. I believe that they are part of the balance that Bolas aimed to destroy ,ultimately leading to the other Gods forgetting who they used to be.

Maybe Liliana's 3rd demon is one of the 3 missing. In every story with gods and myth ,there is almost always a god of the afterlife. If Bolas pushes him out of the way, then I'd say it'd be pretty easy to summon an army of undead soldiers given that they have nowhere to go after death.

As for the other missing gods I'm really not sure who they could be, but they are more than Likely just as important for maintaining balance on Amokhet.

The story also shows how mortal our hero's truly are. It is a sobering moment that makes them ( at least Gideon ) doubt who they are and what they can accomplish.
Personally I think Bolas has been playing the gate watch the entire time, using them to knock off any threats of his, ie. the eldrazie, demons, elder planeswalkers like Sorin. This being all an attempt to clear any threats; and bring power back to him.

*side not. Although a big stretch, mayb our good friend Ugin is one of the missing. He is pretty much the only one who was able to keep up with Bolas ,even though he died lol. I'd say he has a score to settle, and we might not have to waait to travel back to tarkir to see him again.I mean after all he has been in the background giving advice that always seems to go against the "just cause" of the gatewTch.Kind if like when he tokmd then to just leave the damn eldrazie in stasis and DO NOT DESTROY THEM. Or how he made it clear he needed Sorin and Nahari to both be present when facing the eldrazie. He clearly knows How Bollas works, and knows that if the other elders are lost, it is simply another win for Bolas.

I just got finished with the first story of Amonkhet and proceeded to come up with a simple and (not too deeply thought out) theory on Amonkhet. The gate watch arrives on the plane only to be met with relentless forces of nature and beasts . The attacks are only brought to a halt when a god swoops in and saves them ,Although Gideon is the only one who seems to witness. Gideon's amazement in the god saving them ,and the beautiful landscape they encounter, all seem out of place . I believe that while The plane itself has been seized by Bolas, the true heart of the plane is protected by the gods. Bolas, schemes , but I don't believe hed be ok with the beings under his command performing acts of righteousness, let alone saving people. He does have elaborate schemes,so nothing's off the table.

This explains the "came as three " theory better. If I had to speculate based on this comic from 2010 and the new SOI story line (so far) , it does seem to connect in a weird way. If I had to guess, Bolas is the fuel behind all of this ,bfz block and soi. Lock. The engine however is Emmy Bolas is set on getting his power back and he has been known to manipulate and decieve well. He released eldrazie to do his bidding, be his " pawns" The connecting planes theory suggests that both innistrad and zendikar are oddly connected. When Emmy shows up(if she does) it will be in rare form, not the mass everyone is used to.I also believe that sorin's failure to aid Zendikar and Ugin sending Jace to find him is huge, considering the other big character missing is good ol Emmy.Perhaps Sorin was going after her?

Reguarding my last post, I forgot to make it clear that Bolas is using emrakrul, so bolt will be evolved somehow. Apparently this is not a new theory lol http://www.quietspeculation.com/2016/02/the-shadow-over-innistrad-lore-theories/

http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/feature/enter-eldrazi-2010-04-22 . Pure speculation of coarse, Bolas is somehow behind this. Read the latest SOI prelease story and the comic in the link I posted, small details stand out to me as similar; anyone see where I'm coming from with this? .http://magic.wizards.com/en/content/shadows-over-innistrad-story
