When I'm playing Legacy ANT against delver, typically I play T1 Lotus Petal and sac it for duress before playing my land, in order to force my opponents stifle. What I'm not sure about is when I have to announce what color mana I'm sacrificing it for. Do I sac petal, and when it resolves I say the color? Or must I announce the color when I activate it? Thanks in advance!
If I swing with Ormendahl, profane prince, my opponent blocks with Fog Bank, what happens? Any damage to fog bank is prevented but does that mean it prevents the damage that ormendahl deals as well? So you would not gain 9 life?
Say my opponent pays 5, sacs 5 creatures, and transforms Westvale Abbey into ormendhal. This activated ability would be placed on the stack correct? Now in response, lets say I cast an Ultimate Price and destroy one of his 5 creatures that he sacked.
My first question is: am I allowed to do this?
My second question is: When the stack resolves, one of his creatures will be destroyed leaving him with 4. Then when Abbey's ability resolves, will it not be legal anymore since he doesn't have 5 creatures to sac? So his remaining 4 creatures will be sacked and his mana will stay tapped? Or does the game state roll back since he legally can't use the ability? And his remaining 4 creatures would stay on the field. HELP MEEEE
I've been playing magic for about 3-4 months now and Im confused about a few things regarding priority and the stack.
Would the following scenario be legal?
Active player swings with one creature. Defending player declares a blocker with one of his creatures. Active player says "no spells" and the blocking player casts a pump spell. The active player in response casts a pump spell.
Is this legal even though the active player said no spells?
I'm building a deck in response to my friend's mono black, which runs a crap ton of doom blades and ultimate prices. Its an artifact creature/ eldrazi deck so that his "destroy monocolored creature cards" can't work on my colorless ones. But im a bit confused about Doom Blade . Normally, Doom Blade would work on a colorless or artifact creature, but Dread Defiler has black mana in its cost while also being devoid. Someone help???
