I actually ran a more midrange zoo with angels and trags before to success. You need to have a more aggro meta so you can go over it.
So far I've played against 8 rack, Grixis and Esper DS, Abzan company, titanshift, and this weird R/U aggro brew. But I haven't had a lot of testing against all of them yet. I know there is eldrazi Tron and some other company lists too.
This is what I've decided to take to my FNM for the time being. I didn't have CoCo at the time when I put it together but I now have 3 and some ralliers as well. So far with the testing I've done I'm really pleased with the results (turn three Thragtusk into resto angel *cough*). I haven't decided on a SB yet because I don't know too much of my meta due to a recent move. Do you guys feel like CoCo zoo would be a better pick overall?
Ive had a lost of success against dredge as well as pretty much everything else in my meta with the list im running. I dont know how to put the decklist all nice on here so ill just post a link http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/20-05-16-naya-midrange/
Utility is one thing, but command offers two modular effects for 2 mana. With mana efficiency being the name of the game in older formats, I dont think that you need "scale up" cards.
I know but if we are being honest, more often than not (about 80% of the time) it just works as a removal and is sometimes conditional. This is a non conditional removal, more useful against decks like bogles, infect and jund. The 4 life mode (which is admittedly the weakest mode) is useful against burn. And the untapping is just a great combat trick. I'd say that even if we are using one of the modes is better than the two modes we can get 80% of the time from dromoka's. Is my reasoning wrong or not considering something? I am open for discussion :).
I think it could be used as like a two of for combat tricks with Knight of the Reliquary to attack, untap, sac a land and pump maybe?
Have you tried Brago, king eternal? He can come down early and with his ability to untap all of your non land permanents, can provide a nice way to put a decent lock on the board as well as apply pressure.
