The End of an Era

Hmm. Alright, thank you for the suggestions. Let's see how this changes the deck.

I really do like Elvish Visionary. It eats Edict effects, it combos really well with Horned Kavu. It's descent with Rancor, but I agree that it's not great on it's own. I think that's part of the reason Goblin Bushwhacker is in there, to make all of these 1/1s and 2/2s punch through for enough damage. What's people's opinion on Violent Outburst?

I agree that Flame Slash and Vines of Vastwood are good additions. I like Aquastrand Spider a lot for the Delver matchup, and Tin Street Hooligan is a definite possibility.

Making a few additions, the deck looks like this:

Sweet! Thanks for taking a look at it.

I'll take a look at the Izzet cards. I might go for Stormchaser Mage from Oath.

Phantom Centaur and Carrion Feeder are awesome suggestions! I'm not super familiar with older cards like that so it's good to see them. Phyrexian Reclamation is also a really good card for what I want the cube to be doing. Do you think Skullclamp can work for the sac theme?

Personally, I'd try to move away from the processor theme; I'm not a huge fan of wasting time or resources for the possibility of one card paying off. Maybe you can try a build that focuses more on Eldrazi tokens and using them either to ramp into something big or just overwhelm them. Eldrazi Skyspawner seems to be showing up everywhere; maybe it could do some work, along with Sky Scourer and Dominator Drone. Or maybe you could find a way to get Hand of Emrakul into play early. That actually sounds like a deck I want to make . . .

    Hello Everyone,

I've been getting into Pauper, and have been enjoying brewing in a format where I can buy my deck ideas for only a few bucks. This is my favorite deck idea so far.

This deck feels kinda like Jund in Modern, although it has considerably less interaction. The deck is based around Horned Kavu, which is an undercosted body with a small "downside" that the deck turns into an upside with the ability to replay cards like Keldon Marauders and Elvish Visionary for huge value. It has some very aggressive and powerful starts but it also has the tools to play a longer game.

Any thoughts? This is just a first draft, and I'm not real sure about the sideboard. Opinions are definitely appreciated!

    This Cube is:
Eternal: I'm mostly using Modern legal cards, but older cards are slowly starting to come in.
Peasant: Every card has been printed as a common or uncommon at some point.
Medium: The cube only has 405 cards currently.

    Try Drafting!

This is a project I've been working on for about half a year now. Around January I got all of the cards together to start playing it. It's been a lot of fun and everyone who's played has said they loved it, but I haven't been able to get groups together as much as I'd like to get the feedback I need. If anyone is interested, if they could look at the list and give me feedback that would be awesome!

The basic premise of this cube is that each two color combination has an archetype that they're heavily built around, without being too dependent. Thus, my main goal for the Cube is that each archetype be equally viable, powerful, and fun to play. The archetypes are:
Azorius features several creatures with powerful ETB effects, such as creating extra creatures, gaining life, or preventing your opponent from attacking. It also has several tools for Flickering your creatures, removing them from the game and then returning them, so you can have the ETB effects more than once. Examples: Mistmeadow Witch, Azorius Arrester, Mulldrifter
Dimir focuses on creatures that have effects whenever they damage opponents, and ways to get them to connect. Look for creatures with flying and unblockable, as well as ways to buff them or make them unblockable. Examples: Blizzard Specter, Throat Slitter, Curiosity
Rakdos focuses on getting lots of creatures, and then sacrificing them for various effects. You want to prioritize cards which will create multiple creature tokens, and then cards that require you to sacrifice a creature. Examples: Rakdos Guildmage, Sadistic Hypnotist, Mogg War Marshal
Gruul focuses on interactions with lands, ramping themselves while buffing their creatures. Look for the keyword landfall, which will buff your creatures or have other effects whenever a land enters the battlefield. Look for ramp spells, as well as some big creatures to end the game. Examples: Zendikar Incarnate, Explore, Plated Geopede
Selesnya focuses on putting +1/+1 counters on its creatures to make them bigger and stronger. Look for creatures and spells that put +1/+1 counters on your creatures, as well as cards that give your creatures with counters abilities. Examples: Juniper Order Ranger, Sandsteppe Outcast, Undercity Troll
Simic focuses on putting +1/+1 counters on creatures like Selesnya does, but it has different tools. Overall, it is slower, but will put more counters on in the end. Look for keywords like evolve, graft, and proliferate, as well as cards that let you draw cards for your +1/+1 counters. Examples: Bred for the Hunt, Thrummingbird, Curse of Predation
Golgari works with the graveyard, with creatures that get bigger with more cards in your graveyard as well as the ability to return cards from the graveyard to the battlefield or your hand. Look for cards that will put lots of cards into your graveyard, or which interact with the graveyard to your advantage. Examples: Dreg Mangler, Satyr Wayfinder, Grave Strength
Orzhov focuses on surviving by gaining life, while draining the life from their opponents. Look for cards that do things whenever you gain life, as well as ways to gain life often. The keyword extort is an excellent example of this. Examples: Drana's Emissary, Ajani's Pridemate, Tribute to Hunger
Boros focuses on having as many creatures as possible. Look for cards with the Battalion mechanic, which will trigger if you attack with three or more creatures. You’ll also be interested in cards that produce multiple creatures and buff all your creatures. Examples: Akroan Hoplite, Consul's Lieutenant, Firefist Striker
Izzet focuses on casting non-creature spells. Look for cards with the Prowess keyword, as well as cheap instants and sorceries to make them bigger. It also likes spells that make its creatures unblockable, so that their creatures can deal full damage. Examples: Nivix Cyclops, Distortion Strike, Kiln Fiend

Thank you for taking a look!

    Hey Guys!

I'm excited to finally be getting started here. I've been meaning to for a while now, but never have gotten around to it.

I'm a relatively new player (started with Return to Ravnica) who mainly plays online (Pauper) and with a small group of friends from my college (Commander, Modern, Cube). I made a cube very recently that I'm pretty proud of, and my Modern deck of choice is Grixis Control. I'm definitely a fan of control and of anything Izzet (yes, I have the t-shirt) but I'll play just about anything at least once. My real passion for the game comes from brewing in Modern and Pauper with cards that I think are powerful, but haven't quite found the right deck to house them.

    See you around!
