I don't think the argument of "Only if he had SOTP", means that much. If he had Ezuri he would have won as well. He just didn't draw anything but mana dorks and lands that third game.

I do agree that he should have taken out Chord's, especially knowing his opponent did not have any wrath's or board wipes.

Thanks for the writeup! Do you think Nettle sentinels are still needed? Do they help enough when playing lead the stampede?

And what about having any singles in the main like Selfless spirit or Spellskite? Or are we ok to just stick with our plan game one, then side in the Chords and bullets games two and three?

I'm more of a lurker here, but I've really been enjoying the discussions here with the different elf packages and ideas.

I haven't really looked at the Combo Elves thread, but I would prefer to keep it as two seperate different threads. Seems to me that there are a few different varieties of Collected Elves being discussed here.

Also hoping to be more active here and contribute to the discussion, got the deck put together, just need some experience now!

  • posted a message on Discord server for Magic talk - GetSpiked
Hello everyone, this was brought up the other day on Reddit, for people looking for a voice group/server to discuss Magic related topics (Meta, Deck building, Strategy, Competitive, etc.)
A Discord server has been setup, along with a quick website for people to join through as I don't want to have to manually send out invites to the server. (You do not need to download Discord, it will run directly through your browser if you choose)
The server is called "GetSpiked" as this was first discussed on /r/spikes
    Server - http://getspiked.wix.com/getspiked

Looking for feedback and suggestions on more channels to include, as well as moderators to keep it civilized and orderly.

    That's all for now, cheers!

Thanks for a FNM report !
I've been tweaking a little bit based on what we are seeing in the big tournaments and how testing has been going.

I absolutely think we need at least two, maybe three Natural State to board in against the White Decks, as well as the Green enchants that are showing up more and more.
Once I finish a bit more testing this weekend I will post a longer reply with some explanations - I'm glad other people have been playing a similar shell as well!

Thanks for the input guys, I'm liking some of the choices, my question is - how low creature count can we go before Seed Guardian doesn't become worth it anymore?
I feel like this deck struggles in the beginning to aggressive decks like that new Humans deck. But Languish helps, along with Deathtouch.

Do you think we can lower the creature count a little bit to fit in more spells/enchants? Maybe drop down to 20 creatures? I'm also not sure which ones would drop first?

Thanks for the response, I really like the idea of Skeleton Key, as that can enable Graveblade to be much more troublesome for the opponent.

Haven't really thought much about Vessel, but currently there are no 1 drops in the deck, so it could be either Vessel or put duress in mainboard. But I do like the idea of digging for cards, especially for Leap.

I did consider Diregraf Colossus, but took him out in favour of putting in Ever After and another copy of Rancid Rats. Might have to reconsider.
Matter Reshaper would definitely be good, just not sure where I would fit it in, possibly replace Catacomb Sifter?

CoCo could be good in this list, but the appeal of Leap is why I'm keeping it in, and the ability to avoid quite a bit of removal. E.g. opponent casts Isolation Zone on Graveblade, I can just activate Leap and sac graveblade, while getting a new creature to replace with, and their enchant is now gone. That's just one of many different ways Leap can be used to avoid removal/hate.

Collected Company is no doubt a powerful card, but I feel adding it would change this into a totally different deck.
The biggest problem I'm having is deciding on numbers for each card, and what to cut if something better seems to fit.

Hey! I've been working on this deck ever since a few of us committed to signing up for GP Toronto at the end of April.
As the title says it's a B/G value deck that SaffronOlive posted on mtggoldfish. However this deck has changed significantly with the rotating cards and optimizing the value aspect. Will explain some of the choices after the decklist.

Here's the current iteration of the deck, and I'm aiming for a solid outing at the GP, any and all feedback is much appreciated.

I'm trying to make this as competitive as possible, and I feel it's positioned well in the current meta of a more midrange value deck.
Also, the main engine of Evolutionary Leap and how it's used is very versatile, providing ways to get around opponents removal at the cost of just one [m]G[/m]. This is also why I've opted to go for mostly lower cost creatures(80% of the deck is CMC 3 or lower)and since we need a decent amount of available mana to activate leap or a removal spell.

Cheap deathtouch creatures have been working well, as we aren't concerned with trading creatures with the opponent, this works in our favour throughout the game or until we can get an evo leap onto the field.

Another way we can use Evolutionary Leap is to create value from the couple different tokens that are produced in this deck - 0/1 Plant tokens from Nissa, 2/2 Zombie tokens, and some sparse scion tokens from Catacomb Sifter

I chose Seed Guardian for the purpose of getting more value from trading creatures early. This routinely becomes a 6/6 or a 7/7.

I will leave the rest to be debated, but what is a Black deck without at least some removal, which there are some awesome cards right now.
Sideboard could maybe use some work, but I've tried to match it up with some of the most common decks currently floating around.

Thank you for looking this over, and providing any insight on what could make this even better! Cheers
