The reason I didn't use Reshape is simple. I forgot the card existed. Yes, using that with Lotus Bloom is probably easier to assemble. We can even go monocolor now:
Wait, I'm silly, the Reservoir tracks spells cast before it even comes into play, and we can just combo into it. So I guess the list now looks like this:
you basically read my mind. i would like to see aetherflux reservoir here too. you'd not need to worry about your life total once you start going off. it also acts as an alternate win condition.
This actually works well with the set's themes in limited, too. For example, as well as using it against your opponent's expensive cards per usual, you can target one of your own Planeswalkers that's being attacked to save it and then recast it next turn with full loyalty.
So, the general idea here is to get a Citadel into your graveyard, reanimate it with Trash for Treasure, and immediately storm off. You can accomplish this either from your hand with Faithless Looting or Insolent Neonate, or from your library with the self-mill rocks. From there, you can churn through the deck, using the mill rocks and Artificer's Assistant to get rid of excess lands and Citadels. Children of Korlis can reset your life total and keep you alive until you find the Grapeshot. If you hit it too early or loot into it, Noxious Revival can let you recast Grapeshot, or get back the Children to stay alive. Alternatively, the Citadel itself can finish off the opponent once you've amassed enough random permanents. Welding Jar can protect the Citadel from removal. Keep in mind I have no idea how prone this list is to fizzling once Bolas's Citadel is in play as I haven't actually tested it yet. I think this might be a viable archetype, though. With a perfect 8-card opener, including Mox Opal, two zero mana artifacts, two lands, a discard spell, Bolas's Citadel, and Trash for Treasure, you can actually combo as early as turn two.
The Raven Man, NecrospiritB Legendary Enchantment Planeswalker – Aura
Enchant non-aura planeswalker.
<0>: Move a loyalty counter from enchanted planeswalker to The Raven Man.
<-4>: This turn, you may activate loyalty abilities of enchanted planeswalker that would remove loyalty counters from it by paying that much life instead.
Starting Loyalty: <2>
Mr. Granite, the Peak that ‘Walks Legendary Land Planeswalker – Granite Mountain
[color indicator = red]
(This has “ : Add .”)
<-1>: Add . “Hey, was that mountain here yesterday?”
Starting Loyalty: <2>
Lance, the Sparkspear Legendary Artifact Planeswalker – Lance Equipment
<+3>: Attach Lance to a creature you control.
<+1>: Until your next turn, equipped creature gets +2/+2.
<-1>: Until your next turn, equipped creature has first strike, vigilance, and trample.
<-10>: This turn, equipped creature gets +5/+5, has double strike, and can’t be blocked.
Starting Loyalty: <1>
Reading all these LD cards gave me a nifty idea for one:
Forced Mining1R Sorcery
Destroy target land an opponent controls. That player creates two colorless Treasure artifact tokens with “{T}, Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color.”
This way, the player on the receiving end can still cast things for a few more turns as they dig for a replacement land, and they're even ramped slightly. On the other hand, if you stick Stony Silence first, Forced Mining becomes an insanely good true Sinkhole.
The main reason you play this type of strategy is the insane beating that Tower Defense becomes. The archetype has been around a while in the form of Doran Formation.
4 Bolas’s Citadel
3 Aetherflux Reservoir
4 Reshape
4 Opt
4 Serum Visions
4 Artificer’s Assistant
4 Shriekhorn
4 Codex Shredder
4 Lotus Bloom
4 Mox Opal
4 Welding Jar
2 Mishra's Bauble
4 Scalding Tarn
3 Flooded Strand
8 Island
4 Bolas’s Citadel
3 Aetherflux Reservoir
4 Trash for Treasure
4 Faithless Looting
4 Insolent Neonate
4 Artificer’s Assistant
2 Children of Korlis
2 Serum Visions
4 Shriekhorn
4 Codex Shredder
2 Tormod’s Crypt
4 Mox Opal
4 Welding Jar
Lands = 15
4 Scalding Tarn
3 Bloodstained Mire
4 Steam Vents
3 Mountain
1 Island
Now the question becomes whether or not splashing white for Refurbish is worth it. Also, what are people's thoughts on Artificer's Assistant?
Aetherflux Reservoir costs four mana though, and we can easily win without it.
4 Bolas’s Citadel
1 Grapeshot
4 Trash for Treasure
4 Faithless Looting
4 Insolent Neonate
4 Artificer’s Assistant
2 Children of Korlis
2 Serum Visions
2 Noxious Revival
4 Shriekhorn
4 Codex Shredder
2 Tormod’s Crypt
4 Mox Opal
4 Welding Jar
Lands = 15
4 Scalding Tarn
3 Bloodstained Mire
4 Steam Vents
3 Mountain
1 Island
