A New and Exciting Beginning

The End of an Era

So I made this Simic deck that I love. It centers around Evolve (Elusive Crasis and Cloudfin Raptor mostly) and the card bred for the hunt. The combo is so I can start bringing out land, counters ,stronger creatures, and having a huge hand advantage. (Especially when you have two bred for the hunts on the field.)

Coming from that, I'm having a hard time making a midrange/late game deck work in other colors. I was planning to play red and white/ green and red/ mono red, but I'm confused, how does one, keep a hand advantage. Do I really have to have a strategy where I make a game end by turn four so I don't end up not having any cards in my hand? Or is normal to end up having no cards in your hand despite being late game/ midrange.

Two: Is the red 'draw then discard X card(s)' mechanic any good. I find myself having a hard time trying to use it. Like each time I do I end up having to throw away a good card, then end up having a really meh hand and of course it costs mana. At midrange, I feel like that's not a good idea where I'm supposed to be shining at turn four, where I only have four land. I end up spending half my mana to get more cards.

Three: Are buying two starter decks a good idea (Two of the same, starter decks)? (I mean that's how I made my current Simic deck that I really like. Of course I added a few cards along the way.) I'm considering buying another Chandra Khaladesh deck.

My name is Damius. I've been playing Magic, (on a really casual level) for about a couple years. I understand the rules and whatnot, but as far as strategy and buying cards and making the perfect deck and such, I'm not there lol. Expect to see me lurking around asking about strategies. Slant (Which is why I came to the forum in the first place LOL.)

I have a simic evolve deck which I'm really proud of. So more or less I love to play Simic and I enjoy making my opponent do nothing while I senselessly beat them. Slant Outside of that I've built some other decks but they're bad. Like horrible. LOL. Anyhow see you guys around.
