A large 110+ PPTQ in Poland just concluded over the weekend with UR Delver in the finals vs Dredge.

Dredge took it down but I'm trying to see if I can get the UR list.

If the 5C humans deck continues to be rampant, I'd imagine more sweepers being played in SBs?

Unless you can quickly use Thalia's Lieutenants to buff your team to 4 toughness, a timely Anger of the Gods seems brutal (that card is playable out of SBs in Grixis DS and Jeskai Control, I can see it in UR Storm IF they need it). Pyroclasm and Kozilek's Return also hits the deck but perhaps not as hard.

Im a huge fan of volcanic fallout, the uncounterable is great, plus instant speed And it hits players too! Path is good for killing master of waves, and really any sort of 2 for one "Searing" type effect is a nice tempo swing. D-Rev could be OK but Seas type effects make it risky to bring in. plus if they beat us its rarely a "Oh my god Aether Vial" type game. Al in all i don't really think the matchup is that bad as long as you have plenty of effective ways to trade with their creatures. certainly not favorable, and they have cards that are very strong against us, but not worse than 45-55 in my experience.

Fallout isn't that great against Fish. 1RR is slow and by that time, 1-2 lords will get Fish out of 2 toughness range. They can also vial in a lord to buff the team.

It's a race to just dome for 20, with PtE out of the SB for Master of Waves. Lavamancer does work picking off their creatures (they only usually have Dismember or Vapor Snag to deal with it...and sure, they boros charm themselves for 4 if they dismember the Lavamnancer anyway).

Friend of mine 5-0ed a league with his very hate heavy RW control take on Jeskai Harbinger. Blood Moon, Wrath, Anger of the Gods, tons of Planeswalkers.

He did well indeed. However that metagame was incredibly bounded so i wouldn't attach to that one very hard.

However i found interesting that he went for Chalice in the sb. I have yet to test it but it seems rather promising in the right metagame.

The meta in Worlds ended up being very Abzan heavy (which ironically favoured Bant Eldrazi pretty well).

The Chalice plan has been debated here before. Some are for, some against. I think it's a meta call. I like it as a T2 play for 1 against decks like Burn, Infect that have lots of 1CMC spells. Also works well on the play for 0 against Affinity. It is a non-bo with Hierach, PtE and cards like Stubborn Denial. So you'll need to SB well.

Anyone had success with Tamiyo as a 2 off?

This list ran 1 x Eternal Witness and 2 x Tamiyo, Field Resercher in the main. Took down a 125 man tournament in Spain.

Ok, I managed to hunt down Enrico, the winner of the 119 Man tournment in Italy. This was his (paraphrased) plan with the Sylvan Library in the SB.

Enrico is familiar with his deck and described himself as someone who doesn't really like the all-in plan with LEDs and Breakthrough. His meta is strong on Miracles so he wanted a card that would help him get more advantages and play a safer game. His SB plan in many matchups is to: -4 LED and -4 Breakthrough, replacing it with 2x Library, 4x Putrid Imp, 2x Other Cards (Street Wraiths are used to protect against Deathrite Shamans and Scavenging Ooze, Abrupt Decays, Nature's Claim etc).

He says if you're greedy, you can try to jam the library in T2 but the reason for it it to use the draw three effect to dig deeper to find answers to resolved hate. The only way for Miracles to deal with a library post SB is Engineered Explosives.

Seemed to worked well for him. If you've got any questions, let me know and I'll ask Enrico.

So, now we're talking about Sylvan Library, huh? I would really like to see some games with this card. Honestly, I think it will be terrible because Wasteland is already good enough against us. I don't think that Tolarian Winds is better than Breakthrough, but since we're talking about random potential cards we should also give a little thought to Winds of Change. It doesn't discard your hand but it does potentially disrupt your opponent. It could also theoretically give you even more draws than Breakthrough, which would mean a lot of dredging if there's a dredger in the graveyard.

THe discussion about Sylvan Library came about from observing it in the SB of a list that took down a 119 man Legacy tournament in Italy. Check the list above. I was trying to analyse his SB plan against different matchups and found the Library an interesting choice. I'm not sure if Tolarian Winds or Winds of Change are equal options in the SB. My guess is that the Library pairs with LEDs to power through decks which try to disrupt your plays (Chalice on 1 etc). Who knows. I couldn't seem to get much info on the legacy tournament but will keep looking. Smile

Winds of Change seems like a cute card. Where would you play it though? As for Tolarian Winds, Instant speed is pretty nice.

I'm assuming Sylvan Library must be for those combo/storm matchups where you don't expect to see wasteland etc. Nice tech.

I actually really like the idea of Library, I mean, should an opponent land a RiP/Leyline/Cage etc., Library helps you to look for an answer, not only explode-dredge.
Not only that, dredge replaces the *draw a card* part of the life-loss, so you get to dredge 3 times a turn without losing life.
    What's the downside?

With 14 lands in the main, that's alot more than than the average. The Library is definitely castable against decks with hate. I mean, I've actually been locked out of a match before by a Chalice for 1 or Bojuka Bog in hand and had to play draw-go. This is where the Library helps, especially if you have an LED to crack.

Tolarian Winds is a once off solution but this one has legs in a match where you might get locked out.

Now when would you board in the Putrid Imps (arguably the weakest card in the SB)?

Street Wraiths against instant speed graveyard removal (Farie Macabre or Surgical Extraction).

The SB is light on graveyard hate as well. I suppose it relies on Dread Returning an Iona to lock out other combo decks.

FYI, Dredge took down a large-ish Legacy tournament in Italy. 119 players. The pilot went with a main deck Iona + 2x Dread Return plan and a heavier land count (with a Darkblast and probably so he can cast the Abrupt Decays out of the SB without needing Lotus Petals, saving some spots in the SB). Anyone care to speculate on his SB plan? Esp with the Sylvan Libraries! Extra dredges are great!

Any chance for an update of this list? There are a couple of other decks missing from the original list:

    Turbo Depths
    Lands
    Beserk Infect

Anyone tried running 23 lands? Been getting flooded on 24. Could possibly trim a mountain. I think Carvalho (inventor of the deck) said you didn't want to go beyond 5 lands anyway in his CFB article.
