By my opinion, the return of drakes-both of them- is welcome: i think that will be, in the nearly future, a begin to strenghten blue's 3 mana flyiers (perhaps a 3 mana 3/2 with flying AND an ability..).
If we are supposed to face aggro more than ever before, those nasty lizards are certainly a good start.

Jul 18, 2009@Conant: You could try Kira, Great Glass-Spinner or Whispersilk Cloak, i've tried both in a rogue deck and they work quite good...but i think that burn-counter deck's greatest weakness (IMO), being a creatureless deck (right?) is a total dependence on the hand- so maybe an heavy use of discard effect/creatures will work properly.Posted in: Retired Clan Threads
Jul 15, 2009He seems so european to me, don't you think?IF zendikar is a "maya-ruin" land he's quite foreign...wich may can strenghten the planeswalker theory (or the indiana jones one as well).Posted in: Speculation
Seems good, personally i like vampires to be playable but i look at them not as a mass creature force-rather much an elite guard/ruler class of dozens of undead minions: so don't pump them so much, a pair of vampires for expansion will be fine.
Jul 11, 2009Posted in: SpeculationQuote from Magus of the SheepWell, they've told us there are no "pirates". But what's to stop them spelling it differently in Zendikar, like they did with fairies/faeries? It was clearly just them trying to fool us into thinking our spies hadn't already worked out the block theme. And you guys all fell for it ?
Obviously, there are pyrates in Zendikar.
Of course, they are all U ROGUES: nice try, MARO!
(And dinosaurs are Lizards, you know)
I'm serious. Truly.
Jun 30, 2009Welcome new members! Despite wotc's unashamed hate for blue and control, we stand together against adversity!!Posted in: Retired Clan Threads
The Siren, IMO, is an important strategic achievement (or at least a beginning of that), for earn time or even destroy low creatures wich pump the others (if one will be so fool to play an m10 blue deck, i may suggest him to try the siren+wall of frost).
The serpent isn't too much better than it's predecessors, what we need here is something like Graceful Antelope: that would make true sense for an infinite of blue's most intriguing creatures (i want a sea monsters deck:D)-besides brute force, flavourful, it shouldn't be blue....
Sleep, besides it's overcost, is by me an hint of what blue (and indirectly control) may became: a massive return to TAP strategies. That make sense if they stole us the counterspells and leaving us whitout vital defensive enchantments...
I hope that M10 will open the eyes of those who don't care about blue's decline (but, as i said before, we stand still fighting!!)- may zendikar be truly a pirate (blue powering) set-despite maro's statements....
Jun 27, 2009IMO until now the few real new blue cards of m10 are accepatble(particullary the djinn: an enraged air elemental!).Posted in: Retired Clan Threads
@Eloquent: this is such a good deck idea! i think in that case the discard cards are a sort of counterspell....i need some fireballs...
Jun 18, 2009@scionofgod:aaargh!!double-post!!!besides, thanks for the technical correction ^^Posted in: Retired Clan Threads
@2max: Let's pray that will be Control Creature!!* I know Sowering of Temptation is strong, but IMO being a creature she have a very high death rate....you simply lose two pieces at the time! i mean, it's more difficult/unusual to break an enchantment. And last, control creature is faaaar more effective than clone (here, i've said it!).
M10 seems very cool...but i'll be cautious....
Collect a playset of Invoke Prejudice is like climb everest:indeed, i've just 3 of them:D (beware proxies, i'll do my best to collect the last)-mine was pretty ancients, as faithful monoblu player i've guarded them fiercely.
That and Propaganda are truly a beacon of hope for those love the game in a more caster version...
I very like Rystik(??) Study too, quite a sneaky common one.
@Eloquent: like all those who use brain, a combo deck will certainly be treathful. But wait! In that case your enemy must heavily depend on more different and specific cards, and gaining all them often isn't that simple or fast...
Most important, your deck can be easily smash the combo before it reach the enemy's hand!
Wich i fear most, in that case, is a reanimator or burn deck.....
*if it's really true that lightning bolt will be reprinted (yahoooo!), why not such pieces of old art?
Jun 18, 2009Welcome, new monoU mages!!Posted in: Retired Clan Threads
After one age of silence and meditation I, Lendritus, will give you one of my best experiments about the legendary "mono blue control CREATURELESS deck!!" (bwahahaah!!)
DeckMagic OnlineOCTGN2ApprenticeBuy These Cards Lands:
2 Reliquary Tower
4 War Tax
4 Rhystic Deluge
4 Invoke Prejudice
4 Cumber Stone
4 vision Charm
2 Memory Erosion
4 Sanity Grinding
4 Dampen Thought
Indeed, like a monoburn red deck, it's quite simple to play:
STEP1: cast every anti-creature enchantments as you can
STEP2: once you've sufficients cards to mill, ERASE that swarming bastard!
i'm often be cautious to mill too early- the full potential of this deck is reached after you play Traumatize (mem.grind. is awesome too), but this not happen SO many timess....that's why, following your perceptions, you can use the second way of play:"cautious is good, but milling is actually COUNTERING future threats".
Unbelievably, it works.
Most of my friends love Lorwyn, so i've tested that against millions of elves, fairies and kithkin decks and whit an extremely good percentual i win!!
After building that thing i've discovered some similar mill decks on mtg ( they've don't used the protoss-barrier shields enchantments, besides) that put on my a weak sense os hope: are they really boring of playng JUST creatures?? May The Greater Good make it so.
Jun 14, 2009@Xanth: the worst thing is that yugi-oh madness seems to not vanish from the modern playing style.....whit the m10 i was hoping for a return of the old complicated enchantments-may the new "world" cards do not enhance just creatures!.Posted in: Retired Clan Threads
