    I've been playing this deck alot and I think i'm like 25-2 against affinity lifetime. Game 1 if they don't drop hand and turn 2 Etched champion I feel like they get Bolt-path-helix out of the game. I board out most if not all counterspells, board in Wear//Tear, Spellskite (Blocks etched Champ), K-Finx, and Timely Reinforcement, Sword of War and peace, and any sort of sweeper I may or may not have on hand at the time (I usually have access to a Pyroclasm or two, and maybe a Hallowed burial if I think I'm gonna see enough boggle or thruns).

    I just don't see how a bolt-path-snapcaster deck has a remotely rough matchup vs. robots.

    With foil Jace($800), and Foil new art Venser($100) both in this set I can assure you that we likely know of all the money cards in the set. It would be nice if the 2008 Slot was occupied by thoughtsieze. But it's more likely we just get reflecting pool (I want a foil nimbus maze darnit). I think we can likely expect a new art foil fires. As for 93-94, I think Armageddon is one of them, Demonic Tutor is the other.

    i love how this entire thread is based on one of the most inaccurate name and number crunches that have been seen. most of the spoilers upcto this point have come from DOTP leaks that don't have numbers. i fully expect there to be the usual 7-10 non badic lands. and since this core set is set partially in zendikar they might reprint the cipt life duals as uncommons from zendikar

    Yeah we had a few straggler Mirrans that did well, mostly because they got a hero of bladehold in their packs.

    this is actually incorrect, you're getting 5 normal 15 card packs, a guild pack with 15 guild centric cards and a promo. so you're actually getting a extra playable, unless you chose selesnya...

    It has a pretty heavy opportunity cost of Being BG, and the fact that it costs BG means either you have to have perfect mana, or you're not casting it turn 2. It's also incredibly Narrow. Can't Vindicate a land (the spell would be nuts if it was able to play sinkhole) or any permanent that costs more than 3. it's a good tempo card in colors that want to be more aggresive than that.

    also Vs. Zombies (the consencious best deck going in) it's pretty weak, their 1 drops either come back, or give value from being dead, their 2-drop is a pretty solid target. their 3 drops either scavenge or have undying.

    I don't think it's terribly broken, good, but not broken.

    At any rate, this cycle of "can't be countered" spells is making me suspicious there's a powerful counterspell afoot.

    Last Mythic they gave out as a pre-release promo was Bloodlord of Vaasgoth. Right before the M12 pre-release they announced they were no longer going to be promoing out mythics because of complaints of devaluing of Wurmcoil Engine and Hero of Bladehold.

    The Guild Leaders are legendary Mythics.

    The only place it would have hurt is sales of boosters, which is exactly why they didnt do it, because that is their top priority.


    giving players 1 Shockland isn't going to stop them from buying all the boxes. most players in standard are going to run no less than 6 in their lists. if mana is going to be a free rolls there is no reason for zombies not to Incorporate a spalsh. Most control Decks already are a psudo 5-color deck anyway. Snapcaster decks will want both Izzet and Azorius charms, and there is still the chance they want to splash green for Thragtusk.

    All Giving away shocklands and PreRel promos would have done is helped out Casual\Commander players, and gave them a reason to play when they normally wouldn't.

    And then your pool has 1 maybe 2 Scavenge cards..., then you realize you have a 4/4 for 2GB with no evasion that might eventually be a 8/8 with no evasion. I'll take the 4/4 Haste flier for 3UR

    Edit: Upon further inspection it appears that each of these cards have been spoiled. U/W Archon of the Triumvirate, B/R Carnival Hellsteed, B/G Corpsejack Menace, U/R Hypersonic Dragon, G/W Grove of the Guardian.


    This is the Mirrodin Besieged Pre-Release all over again. The only reason to pick Mirran was because you figured Hero of Bladehold would hold more value over Glissa. however if you were interested in not being blown out you chose Phyrexian. And anyone who read the spoiler knew this, which actually lead to some prereleases running out of Phyrexian packs.

    I was kinda hoping the Promo Foil was a alt art Shockland for your guild. Sure people with an eye towards value would be choose either steam vents or Hallowed fountain, but then that's better than everyone on Izzet (which is close to what's going to happen now). However this would also allow other things like need and general preference dictate choices (granted preference will eventually cause someone to go rakdos or selysnia). However now you have playable promos, and they are not created equal. your choices on the high end are Izzet then Azorius and their 4 power fliers with cool abilities, Then Rakdos with 6/5 haster. Golgari is playable if and only if your pool has alot of scavenge (you're only getting 1 Guild pack, so there could be a good chance of whiffage here) and then there is Selesnya a land that can wreck your mana base, and is only a 8/8 non-trampling beater if you manage to find the sub-optimal land and managed to keep 2 creatures in play. Hopefully there isn't alot of Azorius charms, or other unsummon effects in the room.

    Hopefully the numbers on the pre-release packs won't cause players to be stuck with Selesnya.
