used to run patriarch's bidding but am liking scapegoat more and more. recasting things to get edgar triggers sounds much better at refilling your board. plus its cheap and easy to leave up.
whats the meta like that you pilot this deck in? does it fall flat against the mid-range and ramp decks top end? I really like the aggressive slant and wonder if there is any late game should your opponents weather the initial onslaught. Im building this deck with a few budget picks (tutors), but am keeping the overall idea intact. Super excited to run it against the ramp and midrange decks in my local meta, just hope it gets there.
forerunner of the legion seems pretty good, tutors for a silver-bullet vamp, gets a body from edgar markov, and immediately pumps another vampire +1/+1. If it stays in play its a pseudo-anthem effect for any subsequent vampire ETB
did athreos never get there? the drain suite (blood artist, zulaport cutthroat, goblin bombardment) all seem pretty effective as anti-wrath value. being able to get any of those creatures back will be a tougher choice for opponents if they are already at a low life total.
but if the auramancers are sacrificed without a vanishing counter, you get the enchantment tutor. so auramancers with a way to sac them works hopefully
Can brain in a jar cast overload costs for free? Can goblin dark-dwellers cast an overloaded card from the graveyard as long as its cmc is 3 or less? Seems like a cool interaction if possible. According to brain in a jar, it seems that once the jar is activated and the spell has a cmc equal to the # of charge counters, you get to choose to overload since you get to cast the spell for free. In terms of goblin dark dwellers, im not so sure. Please help!
Sorry guys, but is Nahiri mad at Sorin just for not being around when she called during the first eldrazi escape? If so..talk about not being able to let a grudge go!
Apparently, the meta can fix anything, according to a few players and a lot of Wizards' acolytes. Except when, like, you know, they print abhorrently overpowered cards or the meta breaks things, like Amulet Bloom or Eldrazi lists.
"Ban Temple, leave Eye alone" - RG Tron players
"Twin could have fixed this" - Twin players (relevant)
"Big Game Hunter when you discard to Reality Smasher" - also WOTC
If you expect eldrazi to make up such a huge part of the metagame, adapting to a strategy that completely neuters their game plan seems like a fine choice to me. Might have been unplayable during the twin era...but things change. The broader point I am trying to make is that there are archetypes out there that can effectively deal with eldrazi.
Have you guys forgotten about bolt/dismember...both of which can be used to kill any of Eldrazi's turn 1 or turn 2 creatures? Dismember even gets around chalice for 1. Both are useful in many other match-ups. You can even pair these options with an effective sweeper. There are answers out there, and they already exist...its not like we have to find new unheard of cards to combat this.
I currently have one spot open and am willing to take out 1-2 wasteland stranglers for early game interaction. Looking for something proactive, potentially despise, or upping the numbers of IOK or duress. Once OGW comes out I can see taking out a combination of nihil spellbomb and wasteland strangler for thought-knot seer. Anyone like running spellskite in the main?
For the SB, what is your opinion of sun droplet vs tomb of the spirit dragon? Tomb can be searched via expedition map, though it effectively takes 3 mana per use and requires creatures on the field. Sun droplet is good, but slow to burst damage from burn/merfolk, etc.
