Here's a change in topic. I play a t&n and a tron deck that trys to abuse doubling season. I found an infinite combo using doubling season and jace, cunning castaway. Think t&n can get it out before turn four? Season is the issue, it has to be on board first to go infinite with jace.
I'm trying to work on a decklist now. Any suggestions?

Took out the explores for a playset of jace, cunning castaway and a third doubling season because those two cards are an infinite combo. I haven't had many games yet since I found the combo but I haven't been able to cast it before moderns turn four rule so it should be a safe combo.

I need to change the deck around now for blue so I will post the new version in the next few days even though it seems like I'm talking to myself here.lol

Doubling season and jace, cunning castaway goes infinite. Doubling season has to be on the battlefield first so I don't think it will break moderns turn four rule without warping the deck but I do think it can be a serious combo deck.

I was just trying it in my doubling season tron deck that nobody looks at in deck creation.lol. The last thing anyone expects is UG Tron to infinite combo them. It's great when they take you off of tron and you cast jace for three mana an go infinite.lol

    What do you all think?

Thanks genini2. I thought it did, just wanted confirmation.

Boyachi, season doesn't break the turn four rule in modern. But this isn't a topic for here.

So doubling season is on the field, jace, cunning castaway comes into play.
Now doubling season doubles the loyalty counters on jace when it enters, I use jace's ultimate and get infinite jace's and infinite 2/2 illusions..?

Am I right in how that works out? First four jace tokens enter all at double loyalty, ultimate them, then keep doing the loop until you want to create illusions instead.
    Thanks

The deck can be played quite well without the moxes. I use four mishra's bauble and they work great as a replacement, the additional draw is in my opinion better since I never need the mana and baubles aren't legendary.
I also play an 18th land though, a basic island.

  • posted a message on SCG Article: Our format is too thicc for them to handle.
I like modern because I can play several diffrent decks some years apart and go back to them, standard I can't. Standard sometimes makes me play a set/sets I don't like whereas modern isn't affected by the seasonal flavor and always finds a few cards in every set worth playing without me having to go all in on the new sets.
Standard is hard for younger people with limited money to get into, they don't have the money to buy all the cards FAST enough, for most it's get one or two of the most powerful cards and that's all they'll ever get before it rotates. Modern they see long term investment and I think that is a bigger draw to them, and they are the future.
I watched this kid in three years build his eldrazi deck from nothing to a tier deck starting with his first thoughtknot, he didn't have money to get into standard but he had enough to buy a pack here and there and trade into what he could, ultimately he wouldn't have ever made a good standard deck at his price point in a timely fashion to play it before it rotated out. But a modern eldrazi tron deck, he was able to buy a piece here and there with minimal fear and now he's turned into such a good player that I think he could place well at a pro tournament.
If he was stuck with standard and the cost combined with the timeframe to get the cards, he probably wouldn't even still be playing magic.
Idk, I think standard is ok for those that have deeper pockets, modern I feel you get more time out of your investment.
I think modern is more challenging because of its diversity and I prefer it as my format of choice because of that, keeps me on my toes and is never boring.
Standard I can memorize all the decks because all the top ones can be counted on one hand, gets boring fast.

Problem I have with logic knot is delve, same reason I'm trying to stay away from murderous cut, I can only delve so much while still leaving myself snapcaster and tasigur targets.
I'll try a few flaying tendrils and I've already added two echoing truth.
The champion I'm not big on, I tried bloodghast and it wasn't very good, I don't have Bob or bitterblossom, I tried relentless dead and he's a bad chump blocker.Titi wasn't to good either.
I feel the champions need to be some form of creature, I was going to try a couple phantasmal image tonight.
I'm also going to retry relic and spellbomb since I've modified the deck considerably since I last tried them. Leyline on an opener is so good though.
As far as lily goes, I have 8 rack and I traded all of my lily's away, I don't like her much, the only ones I have left are the bad ones.
I want to try a few void snare too I think, for sanctity and orbs.

As you can see I'm still feeling the deck out, I really like it and I think it has legs, delver beats is a real thing and a single delver has won many games.

  • posted a message on Underworld dreams-enough tools to make it work in modern?
I've played my list a few times and it's slow but it can get there, as with any turns deck it's tough against any fast decks. I've also been trying dark deal in replacement of days since days ends the turn and voids dreams ability.
Basically there is a UR version running wheel of fate that I'm trying to run similar but with UB instead.
Biggest problem I have is making them draw enough cards to kill them without fizzling. A single dreams or unraveler isn't enough without snapcaster beats.
I could see getting rid of unraveler though as its sat in my hand many times and never got played.

Creeping tar pit I'll try one. The mana base I like right now though, all the fetches enable push and helps fuel delve, thats my reasoning for so many. That and I'm coming off playing grixis shadow.
I have two hurkyl's recall I can add, I wonder if that and rejection is to much artifact hate with all the other spot removal I have.
Bloodsoaked champion is a new addition as well as eternal scourge, champion I can play out if I thought scour it and have no delve creatures. Scourge is great to delve away and re-play. Neither have been tested much, I like the scourge better but I only have the one copy right now. I could see two MB and cutting the champions.

Counters I should have, been thinking hard counters over cards like remand, even though I like remand alot.
Have an issue with leyline of sanctity and the orbs though, cyclonic rift would allow me to bounce it then remove it via had disruption but I'll never be able to cast it for its overload cost.

Early frost and downpour are debatable, they seem lack luster on paper but both have had instances where they won me the game. I could throw them in the side for MB counters I guess.
Battle was a last minute decision for life gain and primarily for the burn MU, I'm not partial to it.

Ashiok I just traded away sadly before I built this deck, and I would love to get my hands on Bob but I currently don't have any or know anyone that does.
I have one engineered explosives and a few ratchet bomb I could use for additional removal. No Damnation.

Thanks for the great feedback! I really appreciate getting some help with this.

I would like dismember, I don't have any, at least that I can find. I don't know how much I want more life loss though.
Send to sleep is a good idea, I don't think I've seen it before. I'll try it in replacement.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
