Guys we got 2 copies in top 16 of the worcester classic!

    12th place: http://www.starcitygames.com/decks/131003

    10th place: http://www.starcitygames.com/decks/131001

Interesting points: the 10th place deck plays no trawler or mind stones and opts for 21 lands and the full playset of prism (and a one-of paradox engine main!).

Both lists playing only 3 copies of engineer and 3 copies of whir.

Looks like there's still quite a few flex spots to play around with but I think this just solidifies us as a legit archetype thats here to compete and stay.

Does anyone actually like the mind stones? Id rather have chromatic star i think. Tested them tonight and eveey time i cast or drew them just felt so underwhelming. The additional ramp hardly felt necessary to me

    A few questions...

    How were the serum visions?
How useful was the ramp from mind stone, were there any times you wished it was the other way round and they acted as astrolabes 5 and 6 (i.e. would you consider playing prophetic prism?)

Did you miss not having more whirs? Ive felt in these urza builds that whirs just kinda sit in my hand... im usually even casting my tezzerets before whir!

Could you see a time sieve in tbe main as an alt wincon?

Its nice to see you up to 4 vista, I immediately went up to 3 since I found im mostly fetching basic island and with astrolabe and opal I barely need the shocks. its brilliant. I still prefer spire over fastlands though.

Is anyone still playing damping sphere. Its been underwhelming for me recently. Could just be me going through the motions and not getting ANY matchups its useful in lol

Im still playing tezz over sai. Im using tezz and time sieve as my win con. As much as i hate to say it hes largrly useless in the current urza builds since most of the time urza just straight up wins you the game. However ill continue to find a way to slot 2 tezz in the main to avoid the heartbreak of not playing him at all

How do you guys feel about chalice these days? Shuts off about a third of the hogaak deck along with whatevers left of deaths shadow, phoenix etc.

I've ordered the astrolabes to start testing. Also had a go with tbe goblins and my god its good. I really umderestimated him!

And how reliably are people getting their snow lands out? Is astrolabe really that good that its worth adjusting our manabase so much? Just feels like an unnecessary declbuilding restriction when a combination of other rocks would do the same.

Plus i dont want to stop playing with my john avon lands lol

Why astrolabe over other eggs like chromatic star or sphere? Does the card draw on entry make that much of a difference to drawing on exit?

Also i'll be sticking to a u/B base rather than playing white. This is simply a matter of personal preference, i cant stand playing white lol.

I want to try a planeswalker build with talismans as well as opals, saheeli, aob, a couple new karn and maybe only 2 bridge mainboard.

Is urza really worth building our deck around? If we're jamming thoptersword and trying to go infinite time sieve does the same except we can whir for it or grab it with a karn from our board, and even then it was seen as winmore.

Urza is cool sure but karnstruct doesnt further the bridge plan, Tapping artifacts for u is the only ability worth playing him for since we can drop him and still maybe whir for something, potentially play a bridge or sword.

I can see him in a more planeswalker heavy build but if we're playing whir id rather play a toolbox/prison deck. Tezz can win the turn after he comes down evem if we dont have the combo. Urza being a creature makes him more vulnerable too. Im gonna test him because maybe im wrong but i still think tezzeret is better.

Needle, spark harvest, the elderspell. And we need a non thoptersword wincon. If the meta becomes more planeswalker dominant i think it would be useful to play our own planeswalkers to try and win through other lines of play. Sai and saheeli creating a ton of small beaters seems like a good way to go. Especially as sai gives us flyers and we have a bunch of 0cmc spells that dont care about lattice.

Im not sold on engineer. If we're splashing red for him do we still need the 4 copies of whir? Maybe just 2?

Pentad prism could be more useful since we have additional ways to abuse it now with urza. Ill be trying urza with a walking ballista as my finisher of choice. Infinite mana and infinite ballista pings!

The more i think about force of negation i dont think i want more than 2 copies, if any.

Super excited about urzathoptersword though. Just want to play some copies of tezz in the maim as he was what drew me to this deck in the first place
