Hello everyone! I've been a fan of the site for a while and decided I'd finally post on the forums. If this post/question is in the wrong area, by all means, move it or do what you wish.
Let me preface this question by saying I'm relatively new to Magic. I've been playing for probably a little under 4 months and I've only used decks that my friends own.
Over the past month they've told me that Lifegain in MtG is, for the most part, useless. I want to prove them wrong. My deck idea consist of gaining life and turning it into a threat of possible my means of enchantments, auras, creatures etc. When I gain life, I want it to be a threat, not "oh, he's just building a cushion to fall back on".
The reason I bring up Loxodons is simply because I have a fondness for them lol. Who does want to beat someone down with giant elephants holding war hammers and wearing plate mail. (Loxodon Smiter for example).
Anyway, any thing can help. As I said I'm new and due to my newness I don't know many older cards or cards better than the ones I know of. Thanks!
EDIT: I should've stated before that my budget is around 50-60$. I'm willing to budge a bit If it's worthwhile but the closer to those numbers the better.
