Gobhobbler Rats got changed to Knob Gobbler for some reason, Castigate, Castrate

Now that you mention it, I distintcly remember reading Knobgobbler Rats.

And farts is a good name for the sulfurous 3/2, took me a second to get it though =D

G/R/u. Herd Gnarr x2 w/ a sprout swarm, definitely some good synergy. Augur, Wrap in Vigor, and even a non-flashable Thrill, and Strength in numbers are great tricks. Sporoloth Ancients are hot, with Gnarr, and 4/4s beat all day long at a sealed tempo. The red backs up the fat-bottom girls club, with Fomori Nomad and Boldwyr Intimidator. Char rumble is a beast, and you have the best limited creature from FS, 2 Gathan Raiders. I'd put this card in a mono-white deck if I got the chance. Splash blue for the removal and the evasive 3/3s.

*Keeping this spot open to SB options, but I'd run the Scry fixer. In the early game when you have mana and no creatures to cast, this is awesome. I cannot stress how good this is in limited to be able to control your next 3 draws, or ship a streak of lands.

This deck thrives on redundancy, that's why I have a 2W 2/2 searcher, a 1W 2/1, and a 1B 1/1. All fragile alone, but if they are playing any red, I sorcery speed search for another rebel that will survive a sulfur elemental or void. Nasty cards, manageable in singles, devastating in multiples. Honestly, this deck has folded to board sweepers, but if you can stabilize and keep the chain online, you can come back. Some form of disruption is coming to FS, lost hours, allows you to look at their hand and put their card down 3 deep in their library. This deck is very reactionary, which is bad in that, they play the threat, which I must open up the toolkit to find an answer to. And when those threats are sorceries or instants, well, you dont respond. This card gives us a proactive form of control against spells. Assuming they dont have enough mana to think twicex2 and replay it, or they dont peel another topdeck copy, you can delay them at least a turn. As FS comes in, look for this deck to adopt the control approach. Since you bring creatures in at instant speed, this deck was draw-go when it was born. To take advantage of this, FS is adding library control + removal, card draw, hand disruption, and searchable removal. I'm really thinking of cuts, and pitching creatures to the renewal draw is annoying, as you've just might as well not even have drawn a card. I originally added the javelineers as anti-javelineers, which rapes my scouts and speakers. However, I didn't have many options, so they stayed in, until now. I've got a few more cuts in mind, and I think I'm gonna update the list atm.

Nice finds man, I definitely think Judge is gonna be huge in this deck. Fixing my deck with removal is so choice. The rebel enchantment, bound in silence, is SEARCHABLE REMOVAL! That in and of itself warrants at least one or 2 copies. The 1W 3/1 looks good for an aggro deck, but this is turning more and more into control.

Black looks hot. Witch's Mist looks unbeleivable. I would love to cut sudden spoiling and damnation. However, I wouldn't feel confidant in relying on my Zealots of Woe, but if they are low on removal this could be really good. I like it, but it's not gonna kill anything by itself, which I dislike. That being said, shadow pingers that can kill anything for 2B makes me salivate. Running another enchantment provides less hate for the renewal. And, if I've got the renewal going, recurring zealots is no problem. Im running javelineers too, so this could really find a home here, just dont know how much of a commitment to make.

My thoughts on the other creatures in black are meh. No new rebels, and nothing that I would want to see in my opening hand, because when Im in renewal mode, creatures are just useless draws. However, what really got me excited is Minions' Murmurs. 2BB and I pay X life and draw X cards, where X is the # of creatures I control. Whozajiggawhat? You're trying to tell me I get Harmonize or Tidings for the cost of 3 or 4 life. Oh no, will I ever revover. Lemme ask my grip full of spells, looks like we'll stabilize somehow. If phyrexian arena was block legal, damn straight it'd be in this deck. With this, I pay up front for my cards, which is just dandy.

Once the whole spoiler is out, I'll post my new decklist to playtest. Cuts are gonna be made, the fat will be trimmed, and this deck will finally have all the options that it needed.

You say this isn't a good card for vintage, but look at some of the good ol' ice age cards with cumulative upkeep. Glacial Chasm and this would be sick! In standard, locking phyrexian etchings or getting an 8/8 for 3 mana is sick. I dunno, looks like a disgustingly good madness/hellbent deck is on its way in t2 at least.

  • posted a message on Null Profusion?
Null Profusion is a bomb in limited. I've never played with it in a draft before tonite, but rode it to 3-0-1 tonite. Along with some saltfield recluses x3, rathi trapper, tendrils x2, and a sunlance and zealot played control, while thunder totem, cloudchaser kestrel, and stormfront riders sailed in the air. Finally, stupor and 2x mindstab brought the 2nd match to a speedy conclusion. I also played a mirror with WUB and the profusion. Advantage - mindstab. He was going off a turn quicker then me, so with no cards in hand or flashback tricks he was dead in the water.

Null profusion is just sick though. If they have no answer, which is usually the case, you are playing 2-3 cards a turn. Vs. their 1 draw + some or no draw tools. Added up over a few turns, you are gonna have triple the board presence, and with only 3 fliers (1 a totem) I still managed to pull 2-3 of them during the game for the win. I would've come in 2nd if not for the the draw against the other 3-0 deck. First game, no profusion, and I try to hold off but he takes me down. Second game, the profusion sticks and I take him down with 10 minutes called. The third game leaves me hanging on vs. his wurmcalling and creatures out the wazoo (stupid U/G card draw out the ass) at 3 life on turn 5 of overtime and we shake hands. If not for profusion, I dont think I would've pulled out the 2nd win against his deck.

As you can tell, this is my new favorite bomb. The card advantage is just ruthless, and once you have 6 mana, its easy to drop as much as you have mana for. This card is definitely sleeper tech, and easily one of the best limited spells, along with sweepers like rough/tumble, s. blast, and damnation, or game-breakers like tromp. If you see this card and you are even thinking about black, snatch this up, if you dont, just hope you dont pair up against your neighbor after he grabs it.

wow, really interesting train of thought. maro did say that he was gonna slip in an UN set under everyone's noses, with the cheese and super-haste spells now in T2, how far will they push the envelope. he was going on about how no one on the design team new what the hell FS was, they just gave him the green light anyway. he says he has a hard time expressing his ideas, but they work out in his head. thats a sign to me, that this set is trying to be as complex and advanced of any sets, as seen by the mechanic combination so far. there's a ton of stuff for Timmy, Johnny, and Spike in here. Even Vorthos will get some love with possible futures that may never exist!

...I darted across the street, looking both ways in the early pre-dawn light. The buzz of a neon sign from the greasy diner resonated in the adjacent alley. Taking a moment to catch my breath, I peeked around the corner, looking uptown and there was not a soul in sight. A cab sped past the intersection, and I got my nerve up. I strode quickly past the diner's large plate glass windows. There, at the third booth is a tablet pc user, scribbling furiously. As if in perfect syncopation, he flips the screen to face outwards while I press the trigger of the camera in my palm. There is no flash, no glance exchanged, no hesistation in my stride. I hold my face to my lapel and utter, "Tarmogoyf" ... (this is my attempt at being an mtgsalvation rumor distribution agent in the field, thanks for being so creative for us guys. keep em coming, and everyone else should try a 'reaction to the rumor narrative.')

**On topic** Instant, Sorcery, Creature, Land, Enchantment, Artifact, + 2 more. So some insane johnny is gonna play this 8/9 beast for a whopping sum of 1G. This looks pretty cool, and with any amount of dredge this could be pretty hot. Awww, what the heck am I saying, everything that is dredge is hot. Except for golgari brownscale, which makes me think of taking a deuce.

New future sight stuff coming our way. We need some answers in this deck vs. control and hopefully we get it. I will update this post as soon as we get some more info this week. Rumor season is gonna be good for this deck. Grin

First up is our shifted Ramosian Reviver.
    3W
,T: Return target rebel permament card with converted mana cost of 5 or less from you graveyard to play.
    2/2

Decent rebel, but strictly worse then feldon's cane imo. This can only be found with our friend the defiant vanguard. And if you are in renewal mode, this one gets tossed in the bin, whereas the ol' geezer Feldon and his walking cane squeeze through. On a tangent, when you are in renewal mode, I've never really wanted out of it. However, playing against disintergrate and dropping it w/o another searcher for backup is auto-scoop. I was pretty pissed that game, lesson learned, play smart against burn or you are in for a short match.

Yeah, Im liking this list a lot. I think the abuse of brine/blink + shapeshifter, or (soon) mahamoti/blink + shapeshifter. Akroma is awesome, and can be brought in against slower decks to punish them. Body double is my most favorite card since my Doppelganger + Clone + Seasinger (Naked mer-babe ftmfw) deck. Now with the magus, you just run through your library at lightning speed and full speed ahead. Also, I'd sb 2 of Bogardan Hellkite, 2 of Numot (if you still splash red) and maybe something else, like Dust Elemental. I dont think its a coincidence that in the same set as wannabe-***, we get a 4 drop that saves 2 creatures and itself, or just takes it for the team and you get your set pieces back. This guy is sweet tech, but if WW is too expensive, even a few Whitemane Lion sb would be good.

Atm, B/R Gargadon is tearing up MODO in Block events, so this card would fit in natch.

As for restore balance, I've been think along these same lines for a deck. Gargadon eats all their permanents and mindslicer, jagged poppet and pals destroy their hand. Floating the mana to cast this to rip out all their lands or combo pieces and you're set. The hard part is destroying their hand of answers to balance, but with a suspend count of 6 and teh fairy so prevalent you will need fury charm or timecrafting to cast it main. I really wanna see the suspend balance get used, unfortunately with the rise of the fairy, suspend decks have been hosed. I think with the present counter rippers, and the new ones (gogo rift elemental!) suspend can become viable. With this card, this makes a balance deck look just plain broken. Turn 4 = 8 lands at the very least, and if you cheat counters thats conceiveable. Throw in a 1 drop or 2, maybe chromatic star, some "hunted X", salt and pepper to taste. At the bare minimum, you are looking at 8-10 copies of the ordeal, so you strip their lands, or their combo pieces, or win cons or w/e and they are playing catch up to your 9/7 face eater with a mangled deck. I dunno, sounds like the shiznite to me, sign me up for 4 please.

Oh, and in extended, maybe Affinity could find a use for it. Although there isn't much point when you have a 8/8 on turn 2, but would probably be good tech against combo decks.
