Thanks again Jay for providing this journey down memory lane. I had read Moons of Mirrodin and Fifth Dawn, but never read Darksteel Eye, don't know why, I just skipped it and picked up Dawn. This summary def filled in some blanks. My only issue with the story was the five year jump, just not a fan of that plot device.
Now that I'm thinking of it, I wish Bruenna had received a card at some point. She saved Glissa's hide countless times, and she's a capable, resourceful character.
Thanks again and looking forward to Scars and the rise of New Phyrexia.

Mar 28, 2017TearingEons posted a message on The World of Mirrodin I: Moons of MirrodinThanks for writing these up Jay! Mirrodin is one of my favorite planes for many reasons, and this summary fills in some blanks from long ago. Chiefly, the explanation of the gravity shifts moving toward the core definitely helped me picture things. And I remember the plant of the smudge that Memnarch wipes away, and how it instantly incepts him to see the world as imperfect where he saw perfection seconds before. Some did think it was possibly Phyrexian (glistening oil wasn't a term yet), but it was only speculation from those that even read the books. Overall, the Start of Mirrodin's story is fun and cannot wait for the next installments.Posted in: Articles
Also, keep up the good work. Really enjoying the summaries as written from the Phyrexian perspective. And Thanks for doing the history of Phyrexia as well. That was an enjoyable read as well. -

It's always a blast remembering past worlds and seeing tidbits that were missed the first time. For me, this was Dark Discoveries, def a good read!Posted in: Articles
Alara was a world that brought me back to Magic after a couple year hiatus, so it's nice to see it again. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Edited: Removed the Mentor of the Meek tag because it is already at 1 mana lol.
Edit: just realized that this puts the counter on the mutating creature, not itself, so not as good.
WotC: Ok, here's Drannith Magistrate! Now no one can play outside their hands
Players: Whoa! Dial it back!
It was Eli Shiffrin answering the question and was posted on Josh Lee Kwai's Twitter as well. I guess they just went with the simplest solution instead of keeping track of where the commander card is in the pile. Good to know.
I don't believe so, you are choosing which creature is primary when you Mutate. If your commander is the secondary under another creature, then the game considers the top creature to be on the battlefield with the commander's abilities. It's kinda like when Kestia is Bestowed on another creature.
EDIT: I was def wrong on this, confirmed by Eli Shiffrin that it will count as commander damage.
It's been done this way before with bestow, it is odd flavor-wise, but they just don't want you getting two-for-one'd.
Same for UW, that broke the cycle of each color pair getting at least one legend at Uncommon+ rarity. But hey, we got that RG saytr legend everyone was asking for
