I started using sanitarium after @PraiseTheKappa talked about it a few pages back. I really like it also. I cant bring myself to drop sanctum altogether though. I run 20 lands: 1 sanctum, 1 sanitarium, 1 forest, 1 ghost quarter, and the Urza's and groves. Headed to a PPTQ saturday, It'll be my first tournament with the new emrakul and sanitarium. Interested to see how tron performs in this aggro/combo nightmare meta.

A couple Gr Tron lists made top 8 at a 125 player open in Spain. One was an odd list with a batterskull and a trading post, the other was pretty standard.

I would keep at least 1 Sanctum main deck, and I'd think about adding in a Ghost Quarter also. I've found thought-knot seer to be good against pure combo decks like ad naus. I've also been testing geier reach sanitarium to some positive effect. I tutor it up in grindy games when karn into ulamog just isn't enough (!?) due to counters and paths so I can cycle faster to look for threats. Doesn't come close to replacing Eye, but then nothing does.

Just realized Tron was dropped to Tier 2 - maybe we'll stop seeing crumble to dust now Laughing

My first modern deck was mono red burn. Ran a few extra creatures like legion loyalist and goblin bushwhacker and brought in goblin grenade for extra reach. It's not quite as versatile as naya or boros, but it can be more explosive. I went 5-3 at a GP before eldrazi winter, losing twice to affinity (sideboard wasn't set up correctly). People don't expect to take 8 dmg in 1 turn off of 2 mana, and i caught a lot of people off guard, including one game where I went grenade, grenade, shard volley to take a guy from 13 to 0 on t3 after he had walled off my creatures.

World Breaker has reach. That is what is keeping me from taking it out right now. I've used it as an inkmoth roadblock too many times to cut it all together. It also triggers sanctum of ugin, unlike wurmcoil. That being said, with the advent of dredge I might use a 3/1 wurmcoil/world breaker split rather than 2/2

I would give some thought to going -1 sanctum of ugin and +1 ghost quarter in the main. It is very handy to tutor up a GQ in the face of inkmoth/blinkmoth/mutavault pressure after you board wipe with an o stone or ugin. Let us know how fog works for you, I've been on the fence about putting it in. Good luck!

How's Emrakul, the Promised End on your testing guys ?

I've been having good results so far. Being path-proof is v clutch and 13/13 flying trample has been at most a 2 turn clock (usually 1). Combine that with the hand/board disruption and i think it deserves a spot. Taking a 1/1 split of newlamog and newrakul to an IQ next weekend.

    Hi !

Hi guys, what do you think about Choke as a one of in SB to fight against Nahiri, Grixis and Merkfolk?

I think Nahiri and Grixis are both pretty good matchups for Tron already. I'd be more worried about Crumble to dust or blood moon out of the side in those match ups, which can be countered with more versatile sideboard cards like warping wail or nature's claim. I think Merfolk is more effectively battled with bolt/clasm, O stone, wurmcoil and Ugin. Just watch out for spreading seas and you'll be fine.

What do you guys think of breaking the cardinal rule of removing Karn or Ugin? My meta has been so filled with cheap fast aggro of zoo, affinity, infect, and even 8whack. They're not pulling their weight anymore. I'm thinking of resorting to packing in 4 bolts and 4 Pyroclasms/Kozeilk's return just to survive.

You're talking about essentially pre-sideboarding for aggro. I mean, if that's your meta I guess go for it. Ugin is only not good vs affinity. He is a game ender vs any other deck that likes to, you know, not have all their nonland permanents exiled.

The thing is: is Path to Exile worth playing white, which doesn't have equivalent of Grove? Imagine the situation when you need to cast Path on turn 4+ having just colorless on board and Thicket in hand... hurts.

Anyways, my results from last four leagues: 4-1, 3-2, 3-2, 3-2. Losing mainly to my own mulligans to four... hatin' MTGO shuffler Grin

Plus I already dropped a ton of $$$ on Groves, sooooooo.... Gr Tron for life Rolleyes

I saw a list on mtgtop8 that opted for a Gw build with Paths and 5-0'd an MTGO league. I don't know about having 0 sweepers in the sideboard, but path is certainly better than bolt in the 1cmc instant speed creature removal slot.

Great to hear! What's your list look like?

Btw, if you were thinking about trying out Emrakul, the Promised End in your tron deck, I hope you got one already. Price just shot up north of $30 because of Pro Tour EMN results in standard.

In addition to what was said above, tron has largely stepped away from 1x mainboard ghost quarter which makes crucible lessappealing in addition to the reasons listed above.

I actually just put 1x ghost quarter back in my main in place of 1 sanctum. Between affinity and infect, I see enough nexuses (nexi?) in my meta to make it worth it I think.

I don't think that Grafdigger's Cage really does anything against Living End or am I missing something? Everything else looks good and thanks for making the sideboard guides.

Yeah, grafdigger's cage won't help with living end since they enter from exile. You would need to pop a relic of progenitus in response to living end cast. Still think grafdigger over relic is the way to go when building your sideboard though due to the rise of Nahiri, the Harbinger / Emrakul, the aeons torn combo and dredge.
