My real question is why anyone would want From the Vaults cards aside from desperation. I've heard many a tale of FtV cards warping.

I just want to collect. Dont plan on playing them.

So how does one get one of these. I went to my local card shop and they had a reserve list going back to feb so no chance there. The other cardshop in town is only giving thiers away as draft prizes, Atm since just starting again i have no hope in winning that. Do big chain stores get these, ie target wallmart. Or am i just out of luck coming back into MTG 5 months after this was announced?

I might be missing somthing but i saw the price at 40$ so why would it go for 80 the day after? Does each store get a stupid low ammount? Am i going to have to line up or reserve one? This would be my first ftv set but i def want to pick it up.

So im building a 5 color sliver deck. And im putting this combo into it to help out.

Gemhide sliver as a mana source for use after i armageddon.
    +
    Crucible of Worlds
    +
    armageddon

I figure even without the crucible out on the field if i have gemhide and at least a handfull of slivers out this can be pretty devestating after they have dropped enough lands.

Am i missing somthing or is this a decent combo?

Well, what sort of collection are we talking about? Playables for non-rotating formats: get RTR. Playables for standard: get Theros. Playables for casual: get Conspiracy.

My personal suggestion though, is to play draft/sealed instead of just cracking the packs. Invite some friends over and tell them they can draft/sealed for free, but you get to keep the cards. That way you get an evening of entertainment out of it at no extra cost.

Just in general, i mean i used to have over 15k cards and i was able to build lots of decks with the contents of my collection. I want to be able to do that in the future without having to order all the singles that are common and uncommon ect. I dont really know anyone in the area to invite over to play sealed draft anymore as when i used to play i was in middle/highschool now its 10 years later and everyones moved on. I dont ever plan on playing standard or limited. My goal decks are to have a modern, commander and legacy. while focusing more on legacy because thats what i orginally played mtg through and to ignore those cards is heresy. Did conspriacy have enough good cards to warrant a booster box, i wrote that off due to seeing the odd setup it was, how it focused on playing in groups instead of 1v1.

What do you intend to do with it?

    Draft it?
If so, M14 is a glacially slow format, Gatecrash is blisteringly fast, RTR is pretty fun with clearly defined niches for each of 5 guilds and Theros lets you build huge creatures with tons of auras (and it actually works). So depending on your tastes, one of those is a good idea.

Open the packs for valuable singles?
Anyone can tell you that this is a bad idea, since buying singles is generally considered better, but RTR is probably the better choice here. If you intend to collect the sealed box itself (i.e. don't open it), the RTR box is IMO the one most likely to appreciate.

Open the packs to build standard decks?
Again, a bad idea compared to buying singles. But Theros is probably the most important in terms of cards for the new Standard come october (and rotation).

Open the packs for fun casual stuff?
This is very dependent on personal taste, but I'm leaning towards any of the RTR-block boxes, though bear in mind that you'll get like 100 cluestones from a box of Dragon's Maze. Also, consider Conspiracy for this, if you can find/afford it.

Im mainly just wanting to build up my collection. Yes buying singles will be better and im doing that in the meantime for some of my target decks but i find that getting the booster box is fun and gives a nice assortment of cards though it seems the second 2 sets of a block dont have enough of cards to warrant a booster box.

Just playing again after 10 years. I sold all my cards when i quit so im building up my collection again. I bought a m15 booster box and im wanting to get another of a different set though. It looks like m14 m13 any of the theros block and the return to rav booster boxs are all within my pricerange but im wondering which i should pick up. Im personally leaning twords return to rav but i dont know much about the sets.

I feel like an idiot. After the last round and the fact that they announced a winner i pretty much just packed up and left. They called out some names and said for others to get in a line and i figured since i only won 3 games out of 15 i wasnt going to get ***** so i just bailed. Will stick around next time.

  • posted a message on Best local stores to get booster box's?
So im wondering what bigchains or just other common stores are good to get booster boxes. From my local card shops they wanted 145 to 110 and iv seen them for as cheap as 90 online. So im wondering if the big chains discount them more or if online is the cheapest.

Also i know it changes depending on where you live but im mainly wondering about big chains or common stores that sell the booster boxes for cheap

    Harmonic Sliver.

I'm sure I don't need to point this out, but Mycosynth Lattice changes the board on both sides of the table, meaning with Harmonic out all slivers have "When this creature comes into play, destroy target permanent".

Now is that condition optional? If iv destroyed everything they have can i ignore it or do i have to pick something from my side?

Darksteel Forge is the classic card, but with the M15 sliver lord that grants indestructible, it is not as necessary.

If you want to fetch artifacts, Treasure Mage, Enlightened Tutor, Fabricate, Tinker, Sphinx Summoner, Transmute Artifact, Reshape, Hoarding Dragon, Koldotha Forgemaster (but that is at its best when searching for artifacts AFTER the Lattice is in play),

Im liking that enlightened tutor for getting some enchantments and artifacts out since my deck has a fair amount of both for slivers. but other than darksteel is there anything elese that blanket buffs artifacts?

So in building my sliver deck i tagged Mycosynth Lattice and i know how well this can work for slivers due to the last 2 conditions but how can i play the first condition to my benifit, and whats some good fetch cards i can use to get this into play always as it will basically be an iwin card for any high power sliver deck.

  • posted a message on Launch day card, how to obtain?
So this is my first set that iv actually gone to a prerelease and trying to get the promos after i quit 10 years ago. My goal is to nab as many of them to collect each set, so i have a question how are the launch day cards ussually given out by stores? Do people get one as they get a pack on release day? Or do they have FNM and winners of it get one? or am i no where near how they go out?

There's rarely such a thing as a non***** (assuming the asterisks were to cover up a swear) 5 color Sliver deck outside of Commander, honestly.

Exploration does nothing to solve a 5 color deck's mana problems. The card you're looking for there is Pulse of Llanowar or Joiner Adept, or something. The issue with 5 colors is that you have difficulty getting the right colors of mana, not that you're not mana ramping hard enough (that, and the best Slivers are 2 mana or less, so again, what?). Aluren would solve most of your problems, actually, by allowing you to cast the best Slivers without paying any mana: Crystalline Sliver, Sinew Sliver, Predatory Sliver, Muscle Sliver, Winged Sliver (now Galerider Sliver), etc.. Aluren also allows access to Blade Sliver, Blur Sliver, Heart Sliver, Harmonic Sliver, Horned Sliver, etc.. Quick Sliver would drive it over the top, of course, as you could slap down a lethal power combination during your opponent's end step to bypass Wrath of God, eliminating the need for Sliver Hivelord, et al, entirely.

However, I have a feeling you're just wanting to make a big, splashy Sliver deck, in which case just get a playset of Gemhide Sliver, a playset of Manaweft Sliver and toss in Crystalline and Quick Slivers. Crystalline protecting your dudes from removal is huge and any Sliver deck without that card is basically doing itself an injustice, Quick Sliver lets you respond at the last possible moment, which is important. Toss in the guy that gives Slivers vigilance (Sentinel Sliver) and you can swing, then tap your guys on your opponent's end steps to cast more (though that's pretty niche). Using Chord of Calling or Green Sun's Zenith to tutor out a Sliver Hivelord or Sliver Legion would be a nice idea as well. Alternatively to using Quick Sliver is the option to settle most of your mana costs in the 2 mana range and utilize AEther Vial, which is always a solid plan.

To have a solid mana base, you may want 4 Sliver Hive and 4 Cavern of Souls, on top of things like Ancient Ziggurat of some number and City of Brass/Mana Confluence/Reflecting Pool will go a long way.

Now first i must say this isnt going to be the typical 5 color sliver deck you see 14 year olds running around with at the local card shops, i plan on putting some very good cards into it, it will have queens overlords and legion. Now for the mana, i know that there are tons of ways to get the different colors and i have 4 ziggurats, i will have 4 hives, and random things like darksteel ingot , chromatic lantern , exotic orchard. I also plan on having at least 2 or 3 of each shardland in the deck. I know the deck is going to run more than 60 and im fine with that, i will trim as i break the deck in. Now the more mana i can get down the more sliver i can pump out and im not just talking about the cards. Things like riptide replicator and the hive land and sliver queen will let me pump out tokens with extra mana as i reach the point to where im playing every sliver i have in my hand. So from what you said ill stick to just one of exploration instead of multiple or some fetch cards to get it out faster.
