Great quote.
Edgelords can be funny sometimes, but I tend to feel like I need a shower if I listen to them too much. Ultimately, I believe that going the Shapiro route is better and more productive than going the Milo route.

Nov 30, 2017Pollaski posted a message on If You Can't Take Criticism of Jeremy Hambly, You're Part of the ProblemBeing a fellow conservative, I agree with a lot of what you said... and disagree with a bit.Posted in: Articles
1. There are American (neo-)Nazi's, and they're reprehensible. But you're dead on in that too many people are subjectively defining anyone they disagree with as a Nazi. So when there's talk of punching Nazis in the face... and they pretty much call anyone who voted for Trump a Nazi... well... yeah, that is reason to be concerned.
2. Ding!
3. The fact that this article advocates violence against other human beings (up to shooting them!) is concerning. I've been in plenty of discussions with left-leaning individuals who seem to think they have the right to be violent towards what they perceive as hate speech. The first amendment (which is the FIRST amendment for a reason), protects all forms of speech, even reprehensible ones.
4. Sorry, gotta side with saprolings here. There's nothing provocative about with Sprankle does. In fact, I think she should be praised for the attention to detail she seems to put into faithfully representing the characters.
5. I agree that censorship is wrong, but being a jerk is still being a jerk. Its okay To call people out for being a jerk. In fact, I wish more people would be willing to just say to someone "you're a jerk" instead of trying to shut them down.
6. If Jeremy was actively encouraging his supporters to harass Christine, that's not okay. It's no different than those DJ's in Kentucky who had their listeners attack the referee in Nebraska because they didn't like his calls in an NCAA tournament game. The problem is, we (intentionally) blur the lines on what actually is harassment and isn't. The big difference is whether the medium used is public or private. If its public... its not harassment. That's why I'm VERY skeptical on people claiming harassment on Twitter or Facebook over general tweets and posts. Now, if you're going into DM's, that's a different story. And if you're resorting to more personal means, like texting, emails, and phone calls, then that is definitely harassment.
7. Agreed completely with this. I appreciate that MTGS is at least honest and upfront that they are not interested in free speech and allowing for open debate, but it is still concerning that they are unwilling to open up the debate.
8. The only issue I have with here is that you immediately glomp "conservative' and
"white male" in together. There's plenty of non-white, non-male conservative voices out there, and there's plenty of white males who aren't conservatives. Identity politics is a terrible thing, no matter what side you're on. Don't fall into the trap.
9. 100% in agreement. Especially because Magic is a commercially purchased game that literally anyone can enjoy. What right does anyone have to tell me I can or can't play?
Ultimately, I don't think there's much debate that Jeremy is a jerk. Whether he's an abusive harasser- part of me is leaning yes, but at the same time, the complete inability of anyone covering this story to provide anything resembling evidence and facts (not to mention the entirely terrible claim in the OP that demanding evidence "makes you part of the problem") is concerning. -
Nov 30, 2017Pollaski posted a message on If You Can't Take Criticism of Jeremy Hambly, You're Part of the ProblemFor as involved an issue as its become, and its certainly been a firestorm over the past week, I have to say, the reporting on the matter has been nothing short of abysmal. Generally when a story like this breaks, you get a detailed look at the evidence- what was said, who was saying it, how was it being driven. Screenshots. Videos. Nobody has gone through the effort of doing that.Posted in: Articles
This isn't me saying she's been harassed. This isn't me saying she hasn't been. This is me simply asking that the so-called gaming journalists out there lay out the facts, and let us decide for ourselves. -
Nov 22, 2017Pollaski posted a message on Jaya Ballard ReturnsGod I can't wait for Dominaria, and I can only dream that Wizards actually was this careful and concise with the lore that you're hypothesizing.Posted in: Articles
If Luti = Jaya, it makes sense that this is the perfect time for her to get back involved. Chandra got her butt whipped badly by Bolas, and is pretty much on the verge of death when she flees Amonkhet. There's four possibilities of where Chandra ran to after the Hour of Devastation- Khaladesh (home), Regatha (home #2), Dominaria (rendezvous), and Ravnica (Gatewatch HQ). Going by eliminations
- No way she goes to Dominaria, a plane she's not familiar with, in her condition
- Doubtful she goes to Ravnica, without Jace, she's really got no connection there, and I doubt she'd be cool with hanging out with Lavinia
- She probably doesn't want her Mom to see her in the condition she's in, so Kaladesh is out.
Regatha it is. Chandra probably crash lands there, gets nursed back to health by the monastery, realizes Luti's true identity, and convinces Jaya (maybe with Gideon and Nissa's help, if they go looking for her) that she could be a valuable ally against Bolas (and Marisil, if the entire Raven Man thing pans out- does Chandra even know about him?)
Its a great thoery. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Hey, anything that makes Thud a viable constructed wincon is alright in my book.
THree separate triggers. So yeah, you can respond between them, but keep in mind that each death throws more and more triggers onto the stack too. If you're worried about bouncing something, the quicker it happens, the better.
Saw these on the spoiler page, but didn't see a thread.
Two mana proliferate is insane. Polly might just make it into my Atraxa Superfriends deck. At the most downside, you can get the counter on Atraxa.
Thats exactly what happens. Its essentially a chain reaction boardwipe. First the 1 toughnesses all die, then the 2s, and you work your way up. Only real way to stop it is to have X-Y>1 where X is a creatures toughness and Y is the number of creatures with a lower toughness on the battlefield.
I feel the main point of Tomik is to shut down Life From The Loam
Your Wrath. One of the nice things to do with Deps is to clear the board, then drop a couple cheap creatures (or Peacewalker Colossus) and start swinging
Not at CMC 3. Maybe above that, like a Ballista Charger or Aradara Express. But I find this a ton weaker than pretty much every 3 except Daredevil Dragster. The prowess is nice, but consistently getting off noncreatures (especially at the level to make this really hum) seems a stretch.
If anything, Id.much rather run this in Zada, Hedron Grinder
1. Guilds dont matter much when the alternative is total annhilation.
2. Kaya doin ghosts a solid and gettin proliffed for her efforts (esp since shes now had 3 cards and 1 total + ability. She needs it!)
3. Wait, isnt that the woman in Mission Briefing?
I'm not sure of that Baan is very much under the mantle of the "well-intentioned extremist", and if he thinks you are an asset to his vision (like Tezzeret was on Kaladesh, despite his personality issues), he's more than happy to defer to you.
I can see Baan going either way here. On one hand, he is a fundamentally decent person who just has... ideas on way society could function. That's the whole reason he took over the Azorious, and Bolas' true intentions are kinda anathemic to that. Also, the flavor text of Dovin's Veto strongly suggest there's something deeper at work with him.
As far as who I think lives or dies...
Samut- 75% sure she dies. This is way too personal of a situation for her, and I can see it costing her.
Bolas- 75% sure he lives. He's going to lose, but I don't think he dies.
Ashiok- Almost certain they live. One of the few true villians here, will be needed further down.
Kasmina- 50/50. Could be a hook for post-WAR storytelling, could be a mauve shirt. We'll have to see.
Domri- Almost certain he dies. He'll have bought too hard into the end-raze for it to be otherwise.
Teyo- Almost certain he lives. The way he's marketed, it seems like they have plans for him.
Ral Zarek- Leaning towards him dying. His position is too volitaile.
Tamiyo- Leaning towards her living. She's a fairly non-action girl to begin with, but shown to be a survivor. I can see her helping come up with a plan to beat Bolas, but don't see her on the front lines in harms way when it happens.
Karn- Completely certain he lives.
Jaya- Almost completely certain she dies. I was amazed she survived Dominaria.
Tibalt- Already confirmed to have survived
The Wanderer- Almost completely certain she lives. Something tells me she's going to get herself intentionally trapped with the immortal sun, though, to stop her planeswalking "curse". Either way, she's too intriguing to off yet.
Kiora- 50/50. I can see her doing something entirely reckless and stupid that gets her killed.
Sorin- Probably lives, unless Ugin gets completely fed up with him.
Teferi- 75% certain he lives. If he's going to die, I think its going to be in the New Phyrexia story.
Angrath- 75% certain he dies. I don't think there's much else to use him for.
Baan- 75% certain he dies. Almost certain he dies, if not a hero, not the villian we all think he is.
Ajani- Confirmed lived.
Arlinn- 75% certain she dies. What else is there for her?
Ob Nixilis- Completely certain he lives. Just too good a villian to side-swipe him in another guys story.
Jiang- Completely certain he lives. I don't think they're going to off someone they invested heavily in to market to the Asian market.
Huatli- 50/50. Her story's done, but I can see her being usable in the future.
Sarkhan- 75% certain he's going to die. This is too personal for him.
Saheeli- Almost certain she's going to live. If anything, Huatli saves her in a heroic sacrifice.
Narset- 75% certain she lives. I think Wizards has more planned for her.
Nahiri- 75% certain she dies. I think the Sorin/Nahiri feud gets a casualty, and I don't think the survivor's going to be all that happy about it in the end.
Ugin- 50/50. But he'll be instrumental in Bolas' defeat
Davriel- Completely certain he lives. Just too cool to kill, right?
Vraska- 75% certain she survives, although I totally can see her going out in a heroic sacrifice.
Kaya- 75% certain she lives. I think Wizards has more for her.
Jace- 75% certain he lives. We need to go back to Vryn.
Gideon- 50/50. Hazoret's warning from the last Amonkhet story should be blaring very loudly right now. Especially with the Amonkhet gods coming into play.
Liliana- 75% certain she lives. That trailer tried WAY too hard to convince us she was going to die, and we still need to figure out this Raven Man stuff.
Nissa- Almost certain she lives.
Chandra- Confirmed survivor
Vivien- 50/50. This was the moment she was created for, after all.
Honestly, I can sympathize with the both of you. There ain't nothing wrong with playing to win, but if the way you play to win ends up turning a lot of people off, you quickly find yourself with no one to play with. One of the reasons commander's so good- the prospect of a 3 on 1 does a good job of keeping players a little more fair. Even then, I'm careful about running a deck like my Animar deck, because it can be pretty alienating to enough people when it properly goes off, and I know my playgroups don't want to face it every game.
My best advice is to build another deck designed to disrupt the way he plays, and to force him into building a different deck to combat it, which opens up the meta between you (is it a meta if its two players?) to where you're each playing more decks, which might open it up to where you can play in the playstyle you like from time to time. Barring that, play more multiplayer formats, or, worst comes to worse- just don't play Magic with him.
Zedruu went to live on a farm, Rosy...
That said, the new Chandra comic came out today, which takes place after War of the Spark.
