  • posted a message on The future of Green?
By now I am sure all of you are familiar with white and it's future. I myself was never interested in knowing white's fate because I am in absolutely in love with green. Just because white gets the once over here (i.e. http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=100621 ) doesnt give me the right to just dredge up a regular old counter post using another generic color. That is unless one reads this : http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=mtgcom/daily/dl27 . To put it to a more fine point I take the most interesting quote and post it here:

As for myself, I have an early prediction of a card I'm pretty sure will be highly playable in Extended of 2014.

"I wish to start by saying that to me green is a draft color almost and primarily then a very strong initial color of choice when standard gets its major set rotation. Now that the set rotation has changed for extended, we need to consider that it is going to be a serious color in extended in 2014? I would need to be convinced of this, honestly! Apart from making green cards impervious to being discarded from your hand, succumbing to removal or mass removal, or making them uncounterable when your casting them is highly doubtful that is because you almost basically would have to create a host of green cards that are using at least two out of these three special abilities at the same time: Anti-Discard, Anti-Removal, Anti-Counterspells to help push through a well trenched system known as the Extended playing field. Call me out on this if I am I wrong."

this thread shouldn't be in speculation hehe

it's about actual known stuff haha

It is interesting to note that most people think that just because its known information no one else wants to talk about it is truely false here.

What surprises me is that anyone would want to talk about the so-called resurgence of white here in the Speculation forum, but alas http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=100621 clearly shows someone does care about the 'Future of white.' (Meh personally I feel green has so far been overlooked waaay too many times and even deliberatly persecuted by Wizards of the coast by simply making perish.)

There is no 'other side of the planet'. Its just a dark version of lorwyn.

I'm thinking your right about the sunlight thing though, I think without sunlight treefolk cant live! what will happen to Doran?!?!

Good call, that is if science still holds somewhat on this plane, to answer your concerns we might actually see a Tsabo's Decree for treefolk.

Of course I think its safe to say we might not see a card like that at all... even for treefolks.

It has been suggested on the 'Mill that Shadowmoor / Eventide may be "the monocolor block".

I thought that rumor was expelled when Maro announced only 2 Future Sight cards would be in Shadowmoore?

how a bout a block that uses cards from a previous set?

Tell me you missed the boat when Time Spiral came in, because it has already been done (maybe not on the scale youd like) but to do it again would garner lots of hate feedback.

  • posted a message on RIP: Gary Gygax (Co-Creator of D&D)
A sad time indeed. While it may never be officially announced, it is safe to assume D&D was the creator of Magic. Maybe one day old Richard Garfield will admit he drew a lot of his inspiration from Dungeons and Dragons. Sure you may think some of what I am saying is false and that Lord of the Rings had more to do than D&D we all know the Tolkien books were not a game and that DnD was. A sad time but not as sad as it will be when the creator of magic finally gets his due Dark Banishing.

Edit: I think Thornweald Archers is out based strictly on flavour text alone. Cockatrice and Basilisks don't exist (as far as we know) on LOR.

Just because a card wasnt made for any of these creatures doesnt mean they don't exist on that Plane. IMHO...

Shadowmoore - Thornweald Archers & Goldmeadow Lookout

The archers have deathtouch and Goldmeadow Lookout will complete what it started. The skulk I think would appear in Eventide.

    Edit:

There aren't any cyclops on Lorwyn.

I dunno Triclopean Sight heavily alludes to a 'cyclops-like' flavor and why not, there are many giants in Lorwyn

I wish they would redo splice. It has design opportunities, like splice onto [creature type] or other stuff. I don't feel that it would fit in shadowmoor though, unless they put splice on non-instants.

Are you hinting at something like this? :

Decay of life (Sorcery) 2BB \ Shadow of Decay (Creature) - Shadow 3U
    Destroy target non-shadow. ...\"It only follows death." ....................... 3/1

Of course we would need some rules to ignore that sorcery side when Shadow of Decay (the creature side) comes into play but thats about it.

lol how about a creature planewalker?

Thats my realm of expertese... my advice is that its too soon for that to happen. Maybe but not until on or around 11th edition when Planeswalkers are in 11th edition will that happen.

  • posted a message on A Return to Ulgrotha?
I thought that Homeland (Ulgrotha) would be getting it's very own Base set. Much like with what happened with Cold snap (but for a set that needed a Base) since Homelands now is a subset with no Base set attached to it. That would be the right thing to do. Maybe call it Ulgrotha... IMO.

No I disagree there, it would be easier to have a more engaging more action packed game consistently. (A lot more fun if you will.)

and much less interesting risk present in high-stakes games.

Ya know... if Magic were to evolve into a two deck system and be viable it would unlock a host of new players because of the ease in deck building.

    Quote from charlequin
It almost certainly wouldn't be as popular as actual Magic is now.

Your right, it could be much more popular. Now to convince the old salty dawgs whom are at the top of the playing chain to agree to such silliness...:o
