  • posted a message on How much should it cost to play Standard & Modern competitively?
I say this for the best comparison. look at Hearthstone as the best example. A very fun game with "semi-complex" mechanics, and somewhat beginner friendly.
The cost to entry, for a total noob, to really start playing in "standard", if say you miss the promotional, would be say $50 to $150/$200 MAX - this let's one buy a set of classic and two of the latest sets (all one needs). Since this is a digital product, the player can simply disenchant or breakdown duplicates and "craft" the remainder cards to complete a top tier deck.

Best of all, all cards are accessible ALWAYS

Wizards needs to get real and really see where the competition is kicking their butt... start with MTGO!

Except Jimbo has this group in his groups and only uses Facebook to message his family, and forgot he was in this said group. Just saying. Butchered at the block because he forgot to leave the group or chose to be inactive, which is part of the list of 200 plus other stupid groups he is a part of, including hot dog eating champions group.

And campus security are always power tripping.

so I understand this rule more clearly. Do you get to scry X per card under 7? i.e you keep a hand of 4 cards and scry 3?
or is it just scry 1, no matter how many cards under 7 you have?

So question before I get into this. I would love to turn a bunch of random EDH cards, and other cards sitting in my binder into a revised tundra. Most of the cards I have to put up are between 100 and 400ish, with some over 1000. Is it even worth it for me to do this? Or would I just be wasting my time and money (shipping money) on trying to convert this junk cards into something so pricy?

No it is definitely easy. Ship in the US, and maybe Canada. Try to ensure you get more margin for the postage, envelope, and penny sleeve (but dont be afraid to "break even" just to move some janky cards.

I took all of my theros and return to ravnica sets and put them up. 10 cents, 50 cents here and there on the commons and uncommons as profit adds up fast.
I ship once a week on Mondays as well.

I have earned enough to have a Eureka from Legends on the way. sometime you find cards in your collection you picked up for 25 cents each long ago and are now worth $10 or more (Rings of BRighthearth :)) and you are moving on your way.

I wanted to update my comment and feedback for Puca experience so far.

Been "Pucaing" for just over a week now, really trying to list all of my cards, especially Commander 2014 and some Standard Commons. I have been to the post office three times, and have raked in a NET $137.62, with Profit (after mailing, sleeves/toploader, and envelope), at $97.00.

From buying two white and one red commander decks at $30.00 each, I have gone into the actual profit and the BLACK at $7.00, and still have a complete intact white deck, and most of the expensive cards from the other White still in my inventory.
This includes trading the commons, uncommons, tokens, and less than dollar rares in the boxes.

For each card, I guesstimated for comparison a 60% trade in (even for the $0.15 cards - which we all know we will not get from the LGS!). I have barely even been able to log my collection, and am working towards it.

I have already purchased several of the new fetches to move elsewhere.

    It is simply amazing.

As Aranthar pointed out, Puca Trade is pretty good way to collect and trade cards.
Aranthar, thank you for the screenshot, that is what people need to see to get an idea how this works.

I literally just joined last week, and with the free 500 points they give, you can definitely test it and get a feel of how it work. The 500 points they give you helps settle you in!

There is nothing like sending a bunch of 10 to 20 cent cards to one guy and getting some sort of credit, versus trying to get a fraction of that amount form your lgs.

The big thing that really helps in getting the most out of Puca is how organized you are. I have a spread sheet with all of my orders and Puca Price, and I compare to the "60%" trade in I could get from most LGS (some will give less or won't even accept commons!) and I also factor in the shipping, penny sleeves and top loader to see whether it is worth me to send the item out versus taking to the LGS.

Finally, with spreading the word, by posting "join the fun teehee and click this link teehee" any person with very little common sense is going to mentally flag you as spam.

If you are hell bent on getting those 100 to 300 points ($1 to $3) it is better to actually give the link to persons once you have talked a bit to them!.

It misses the cut for me at 360 right now, but we were enjoying it at 450+. It's a fun and powerful card that can fill a couple of roles, both as black sweeper and as reanimation support card.

Sgree with wtwlf and Spike. This is a card that is good sweeper for 5, but when setup right, can be EXTREMELY Abusable. Sac Outlets setting up for a turn 5 mega rampage in a green black deck.

A great game example where this came from nowhere was when Opponent played
t1 Lotus Petal and Forest for Lotleth Troll.
    T2 Swamp and Night's Whisper
t3 Drop swamp, Play Dark Ritual and discard Griselbrand, Wurmcoil Engine, and Akroma Angel of Wrath - Living Death
    OUCH

Seeing them bouncing around between $63.00 to $70.00 with the bids on eBay, and few Buy it nows from $75 to $80.
What has made this card slip so much? Too much hype and not enough Legacy players?

i wanted to add that 1v1, she is ok. like wtwlf suggested, it is better to play a stronger 5 drop.
however, in multiplayer, you can use your blue cards to stock up and counter during each of your opponents turns
try this card with opposition for some of the most epic (for you) lock downs.
