Yeah, yeah, I know, 4 Yawgmoth's Will, that's why this is in casual. I know that card is broken enough to make a deck that kills around this price, I just need help carving it out. I know there's a deck here, help me find it!
Stax has good matchups against aggro, but can be equally detrimental against control, while less so against combo (unless you have Leyline of Sanctity). Although Stax is considered a lesser deck, it can show up in Top 8s every one in a while, which I think solidifies how unpredictable Legacy is, where a deck that doesn't do much usually can make Top 8 occasonally.
I actually tried putting Vise in Stax, and it is extremely ineffectual. The only deck it makes better is Stasis, but that deck isn't very good to begin with.
This deck draws extremely well, and with Idyllic Tutor, it is far easier to get Moat/Humility in hand. Now I know what you're saying, there is no Smokestack. In the end, it was just too ineffectual and just felt like a win-more. While Smokestack is key in Geddon Stax, in this deck, it just doesn't work. Right now, it is very consistent, being able to almost always get out the Moat/Humility lock.
Hey, I was wondering if Mono-White Stax is still possible. I used the original decklist from the first post of this deck for playtesting on Forge, and while it was decent, it lost sometimes due to slowness problems. Could anyone suggest a better Mono-White Stax list?
I have left Standard for Eternal formats, because it just feels more fun to me. When I play Legacy, I feel like I'm playing a more classic game. Sure, the decks may be more expensive, but at least it won't rotate out. If I even receive boosters anymore, I'll usually just open them and sell anything valuable. Thankfully, I live in Montreal, so I don't have trouble finding a Legacy tournament happening around.
As for MTGO, I've never played it, and from what I've heard, I probably never will. I just use Forge to play against the computer. While probably not the best, the computer has gotten me sometimes, and at least I get some sense of how my deck plays out before buying it. If I even receive boosters anymore, I'll usually just open them and sell anything valuable.
Thanks, the rocket launcher is there mainly for flavor reasons :), but if I really what to compete better, I'll put in Stroke of Genius and Blue Sun's Zenith.
So I discovered the combo between Power Artifact and Basalt Monolith/Grim Monolith. I want to build a Mono-Blue/Artifact deck around it, but I don't know where to go from here:
So, how degenerate is this in, let's say, casual? Is there a deck for around $100 that wins just annoyingly a lot? There is not restriction other than price, max $130. I'm curious to see what stupid things people can do with low cash.
This deck has done quite well, with the disruption being able to take defuse most threats. A deck I have trouble against is White Weenie, when the put out Pro-Black creatures I can't take care of. Any help on that is appreciated. Also, this it budget, so no cards over 10 Canadian dollars (I already had the Demonic Tutor).
4x Hypnotic Specter
