why is it acceptable to start a thread to bash eletist ( IE comptitive) players but if I started a thread about how I hate bad players, newbs, players that just play to lose ect. Id be hated out of the mtgs community in a second. This seems like a huge double standerd to me, and it makes me pretty sick that a thread like this can stay open.
I know this website mostly caters to rumors, trades, and low level stratagy discussion, but that doesnt mean there should be room for threads like this. I mean if you go to any serious stratagy mtg message board you never see threads like this and if you do they are locked within a day or two, because its just a pointless discusion that usually leads to flamming, spamming, ect.

At least in my case, I had hoped to be clear that competitive != elitist. Most competitive players a very nice. And really, as you say, this isn't a strategy board. Shrug, different crowds.

    A) It usually don't its all about how people view you, if some one thinks your full of snide remarks every you say to that person is going to come across as snide no matter how you say it...

    B) I hate when people say they play for fun while they go to PTQs and then complain about elitists when they get out played by a completely better player. Your at a PTQ the end goal of every one who entered is to qualify for the Pro tour. All that matters at a ptq or any tourney is winning. Because if you wern't there to win you wouldn't be there in the first place, you would be at your buddies house on the kitchen table.

If people wern't so close minded about "elitists" they would learn some thing from the better player. Like the rules/interactions/cards they are using to beat you. That is how you become a better player. Take a noob playing against you playing TSP/Lor legal Lark combo deck, you go combo on them and they get upset because you just beat them and they don't know how. This is why the newbier players never play combo, because they don't understand it. The best thing you could ever do as a player is to learn from every loss why it happened and what you could have done differently to possibly make the game go in your favor.

Im sorry that top tier decks cost 300+ but they do and for a reason.

    A) In my experience people don't assume you are snide for no reason. Perhaps one or two. After that, you're probably contributing somehow.

    B) I have no issue with good players. I help them test sometimes. More frequently I draft against them and I do just fine. Some of them are nice, others not so much. Look, you are obviously very competitive and that's fine. Some people aren't. I've dropped from a PTQ at 4-0. I have no interest in more than about 5 hours of magic at once. Heck, not sure what I'd do if I won a PTQ. Probably take the ticket and go vacationing instead of playing. You might not understand that but I don't understand your motivations either.

    C) I agree magic decks are not that expensive. I certainly get my sets through drafting and trading alone.

Whatever. People play for different reasons. Just hope you play against someone me when Top 8 is on the line. If you don't act like a jerk i'll probably condeed you in.

Any good player who is good enough to recognize that there are no "good" or "bad" plays there are only right and wrong plays. Any one who realizes this will most likely tell people when they are making the wrong play. When you correct some one who isn't even playing the right cards in their deck its going to come across as elitist but when you are absolutely right, your right. If the person is so close minded to not listen to the clearly more experienced and better player that is no one elses fault but their own. It doesn't matter who sounds like what or how things come across because in the end all that matters is the "elitist" is right. And on the competitive scene the person who is right is going to win a majority of the time.

I'd really like to think you're not so short sighted as to think that a) it doesn't matter how you say things to people and b) the majority of magic players hang their self worth on how often they win. Most the players around here aren't great. They do try to learn, and most of them will take advice if they it comes from someone they respect. But they still lose frequently. And they're ok with it. Because they still have fun playing with their cards. And I'm glad they do because it means I get to keep playing, usually for free.

Like I told a guy playing Domain aggro that for his deck Terramorphic Expanse was better than Jund Panorama and he looked at me like I was a retard and told me that he didn't like me dissing his deck... meh wtfe I don't care if stupid people can't handle constructive advice, but what I hate is when people make me out to be the jerk.

Err... being right does not necessarily makes advice constructive. It's usually not hard to tell when someone thinks you're an idiot when they're giving advice. And then people tend to take offense. Did you?

Does anyone know where I can find the locations of the Shadowmoor prereleases in Germany? It doesn't seem to be on the official wizards site?

If this is correct I think that brings us to exactly 23 commons in each color so far? Which is either a ridiculous coincidence or the number of commons in each color. Which is a little strange because without common artifacts, of which we know none, there is only terramorphic expanse which might be common? for 115 or 116 commons which I find a little strange but is certainly possible.

So wizards.com appears to have updated everything for monday and at least part of tuesday (i.e. arcana pics are up and whatnot). There's apparently a feature article with the orb announcement.
    (art here http://www.wizards.com/global/images/mtgcom_feature_380_picMain_en.jpg)
Anyway, I've been trying to find the actual orb data. It doesn't seem to be where it usually is. Anyone else have better luck?
