Trust me, that was my first thought too, but Flash is banned in Vintage (and everything for that matter).

Ummm, no. Flash is Restricted in Vintage, not banned.

I really think that the floor rules changes here are very well thought-out and for the better. Of course, this is just my initial thought and I will have to have more experiences to see if anything could use a bit of tweaking, but I think that overall, these are pretty nice.

Ok, I initially was not looking forward to this set, mainly due to some of the combat changes... but how can I not be excited with so many good and iconic cards coming back?!

Um...where exactly are the synergies? I get the Brute, that's First strike + Wither = WIN, but honestly...c'mon dude...

Uhhh, the Pyroclast Counsul deals damage to all creatures.... and then you remove them and get tokens? And Crackleburr taps to deal damage... and then you get a zombie?

I bought 5 of these today (yeah, that morbid curiousity gets to you). I ended up getting 2 rares, 1 uncommon, and 2 commons as the distribution of the random card (and 4 tokens of the 5 possible). Overall, I wasn't extremely happy, but not extremely disappointed either. I don't buy boosters very often as it is, so it's not going to really change how I purchase cards, but I think these are far from the worst thing that could happen to Magic. *shrugs*

    Child of Alara

    Legendary Creature - Elemental

    Trample.

When Child of Alara goes to the graveyard from play, destroy all artifacts, creatures, enchantments and planeswalkers. They can't be regenerated.

Well... if they really wanted to make people angry, they could make a functional reprint w/ the Faerie creature type.... because that'd NEVER see play (/sarcasm)

I think it would be amazing he ends up having a "Remove all counters from all other permanents" ability thrown in there. In the current Standard, that would just be so devestating (Destroy all planeswalkers, remove the versatility of vivids, and give creatures another chance to persist? Yes please)

I first started playing during the time of Urza's Saga. My friend got a box of commons for free off of his uncle, so we both ended up playing a bit. I only bought a couple of tournament packs before my friend stopped playing for a while, so the cards got put away in a drawer. A few years later, I found more people playing, so played casually up until Onslaught block. Around that time, I found a local store that held tournaments and regularly had a crowd of people eager to play. From that point on, I've been playing steadily.

    Hi everybody!

I've actually had this account set up for a while now, but I have just decided to start posting. Sorry about the use of "Burninator" in my name, but it was a nickname that I picked up in high school and I have been using the name since. I have enjoyed reading all of the conversations up until this point, and hopefully, I will be able to contribute as well.

    Later all!

First off, congratulations! Secondly, great podcast, as usual.

As the definition of a casual deck, I would have to say that it greatly varies. I consider casual deck to have multiple characteristics. One thing that I think is necessary for the deck to be casual is that it is played for the enjoyment of the game, rather than for tournament standings. Because of this, the decks are much more likely to contain random 5+ card combos and not conform to specific formats. Most of the time, the decks would not be decks found online and copied directly, or if they are, they would not be found by looking up the decklist of the latest Pro Tour winner (mind you, I'm not trying to say netdecking is wrong or anything, but just stating that the decks tend to be lower-key). Overall, the deck is built to have fun with friends, so the atmosphere will be much more relaxed. Common points that tend to take away from the casual (and fun) aspect would include: Heavy counterspells, heavy discard, heavy land destruction, and bringing a deck that is generally non-interactive (heavy combo). I'm sure that there is more that I am missing, but those are the things that come to mind off the top of my head.
