Was in a multiplayer game last night, and had my Commander stolen with Confiscate. Later that player attacked player B with the Commander, and player B disenchanted Confiscate. There was some confusion as to what the results of this would be- It's always been my understanding that changing control of a permanent removes it from combat, but I can't seem to find the specific ruling to support that.

A long, long time ago (Like Fallen Empires era) my local playgroup at Attactix had a thing where you autographed the card that killed you- somewhere out there, there's a Tolaria with my signature on it. This could be the result of something like that...

come to think of it, that kind of resembles my scrawl- but I didn't play much during Kamigawa, and we'd long since recovered from that sort of madness...

One of my friends cast Vampire Cutthroat and, upon resolution, declared that it had "Sulk".
We all laughed and declared that it couldn't be blocked because it was so depressed the other creatures on the table felt bad for it...

That... would be an interesting thing to see. Basically just the name, type, and a giant mana symbol?

I probably wouldn't use it myself but it would be interesting.

I have a Maze's End deck where I use the Guild Logo Cards that came in the Dragon's Maze Prerelease packs as 'textless Guildgates' (I have 2 full sets, unlike the linked image- was the first one I could find), so far everyone I've played it with has been totally cool with them.

I'd actually reccomend the box from a Deckbuilder's Toolkit, they are much sturdier than a FatPack/Bundle, and they have a flap with tabs that tuck in so the box stays closed. If you don't want to buy the Toolkit itself, the boxes can usually be picked up for around $5

Yeah, I just learned about these recently, about a month ago when an 'unboxing' video popped up in my YouTube feed. Seemed pretty neat, then I learned they were released sometime last fall so figured I was out of luck, but I found an online retailer that had them for $5 a pack (up from the apparent MSRP of $3.5, but that still seemed reasonable). Picked up 3 packs and got a nice selection, including a Lhurgoyf. I plan on handing them out to some friends who will get a kick out of them, managed to get ones that would match most of thier playstyles, though I didnt get a Dragon for the Dragon guy, fortunatley he also plays Humans, so I gave him a Soldier. As mentioned above, the dials are a little loos, I was hoping they'd be more 'clicky', maybe UP can fix that if they make another set.

FWIW, I find that UltraPro is one of the few companies thats even worse than Wizards about telling people about new products. It's only been like the last year that theyve had an up to date product section on thier website...

Yes but nowadays it may be considered bullying to show your opponent you've got turn 1 Iona with FoW backup.

It should be considered bullying to play Iona...

The way i see it, this paragraph can be used as an excuse for a player that is losing the game (or feels that he will lose it) but does not want such an outcome. If two players don't agree with something, they take their decks and antes and leave, and the game is a draw. The excuse itself can be pretty much anything (again, given that the players are playing strictly along the rules of the rulebook without any alteration).

Well I can tell you, that excuse would work exactly once on each opponent, and you'd start finding yourself with a lack of people willing to play with you.

There wasnt a need to define Conceding in the rulebook, as it was simply commonly understood to mean you gave up on the game, which would mean you lost whatever Ante you might have put up. But honestly, back in the day, at least in casual Magic, folks usually played till the bitter end.

I'm not sure about other areas, but here in Denver, Ante was rarely used even in the early days. Occasionally people would specifically agree to play for Ante, but otherwise it was usually ignored. I do recall a brief period where people played with 'false Ante', where the top card of your library was removed from the game before play- I wonder if that would be an interesting way to introduce variance today... (Ooops, your Draw-Go Control deck Ante'd it's one wincon, sucks to be you...)

  • posted a message on Mangara of Corondor, Merieke Ri Berit and multiple untap creature abilities
then the next time it's my turn, if I allow Merieke Ri Berit to untap, there's no way I can prevent her second ability from destroying the three creatures, even if I tap right away?

No one else has mentioned it, but you've made several references to 'allowing' Merieke to untap- which doesn't happen. Her first line of text prevents that from happening- you have to make her untap via some effect.
(I mean, I'm pretty sure we're all on the same page here, but since nobody else corrected you, I wanted to make sure it was stated for clarity's sake)

Leovold, Emissary of Trest can't stop you from putting a card into your hand...

    Underworld Dreams
    Sphinx's Tutelage
    Lorescale Coatl
etc... all trigger on you Drawing a card.
Sometimes it is an advantage (or disadvantage) to simply 'put a card into your hand'

I wonder if he'll work well with Demon of Dark Schemes?

I feel like these guys should swap names, so the Herald of Anguish would be the guy that wipes the board of all the small stuff, and the Demon of Dark Schemes would be the one that does tricksy things with your artefacts...
