  • posted a message on buying complete sets
So, I got into mtgo after selling my entire collection. Now, I miss paper magic and really only enjoy the phantom sealed events that are 4 tix.

So I am trying to find the best way to convert 300-400 tix to paper. I saw mtgotraders had gtc sets for 110 tix and plus the 25 set redemption equals 135. This would give me trade value to slowly biild my collection back up.

Do you think this is a pretty money efficient way of converting back to paper? I would plan on buying upwards of 4 sets. Thanks

I is interesting to see that card getting play. I mean ya its great when you can save a creature, but then again it doesn't work all the time like you said. I wouldn't mind playtesting it though. I have never gotten to play with sorin and I would love to give him a try!

I am really wanting to play this deck. Sadly it does not seem to fair well on mtgo. What are thw flaws of this deck? The lack of farseek obviously stinks.

Yeah, I've played lots of UWR Flash on top of piloting Jund since RTR, and although Jund will present you fewer obvious line of plays, it don't think either deck is strictly easier to play than other. You still need lots of technical play skills no matter what deck you play, and like UWR Jund is a pretty reactive deck which means that you need to know what answers you need against each individual archetype. I think Jund is lots of fun though, I agree that from time to time deck like UWR rewards you more because you feel like a pro with all the instants, but Jund has its own charm too.

I'm pretty sure Junk Rites is the deck to play. It's great against other aggro and midrange, and control is nonexistent right now. Jund is still a great option but it's slightly weaker against aggro and folds to Junk Rites G1 90% of the time.

Ok since I am trying to inderstand how the meta works. Is control kept down by all of the hyper aggro decks? Or is it due midrange? From my understanding the aggro is too good for it to be going away anytime soon.

Ya I bet jund is the best option. I am still trying to get a handle on the game and I seemed to enjoy that type of deck when I was younger. I have deck add, and it says a lot for me to stay with a deck for 2 whole blocks.

Although, I really like the creature package for rbw. It has slowly started to pop up on mtgo. Obviously jund has more placings, but is it strictly a better deck? I am really going to have to keep reading up.

Thanks for the info guys. I am just going to keep watching for deck ideas. I used to play when I was younger during the ravnica block. My favorite deck that I actually was able to stick with was junk control. It ran hand destruction, board wipes, and value creatures... Slant Damnation, loxodon heirarch, persecute, etc. I am wondering If I should build towards that type of deck.

Jund and dega midrange seem to be my best bets.

Ok, so I am still pretty new to magic but I am trying to do anything I can to improve. I have tested rdw, gruul, naya blitz, and. Junk rites. I am really wanting to figure out what deck may be the best fit in the current meta.
The top decks on mtgo seem to be jund, naya blitz, and ruw. Granted, there are other decks that put up great results. I am still trying to grasp how this affects my choice of deck. To me the only deck that "seems" to have a good matchup against all of these would be jund. This would explain why it is the most played deck. Is this correct?
I have just traded all of my cards for the junk rites deck and I am worried that this is a bad choice for the long term. People will obviously hate it out very quickly and I assume it wont last long. Any insight? I really want something I can stick with for some time that I can improve with. Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply! It is a tuff decision for me since I really have always enjoyed junk. Also, I do like the idea of running obzedat in the craterhoof deck. Seems like it could really help vs control decks. I will have to do some thinking.

Ok, so I am slowly seeing more craterhoof decks on mtgo. Can anyone give me some insight as to why people are choosing this over humanimator? I am debating on making one of these 2 decks, but I do not have a clue as to what is the safer choice. Can anyone give me pros and cons of each and maybe what they would play if it was for then next couple of months?

I am debating building this deck on mtgo... But, I am also looking at jund aggro. Can anyone give me some insight on the 2 decks. Pros and cons would be great. Also I hear a lot about people hating out naya blitz. Will this affect Jund aggro the same?

I am debating between this deck and the naya blitz deck. Can anyone give me some insight into both of the decks and how they compare? From what I can see, Naya is faster but has zero mid/late game. Jund aggro is not quite as fast, but has more versatility in the sideboard which can make it go late game and also compete with control?

witchbane orbs are great! They really help against esper and jund from what I have seen. I have been playing bant wolf run and it has won me the game a couple of times. I think garruk is great in this deck for the versatility of card draw and tokens. Sadly we do not have a lot of cards that offer card advantage. Garruk is one of our few sources and I think he should at least be a 1 of.

Well, I would say in the meta then that junk should do fine. We have a lot of lifegain and removal. Against control I would think we would want some walkers that pump out tokens in my opinion. I really miss persecute=/
