Ya I know what you mean, but I think it has something to do with the meta game. I think it may have something to do with aggro pushing out specific decks?
So maybe just ignore it "most" of the time? Obviously not all the time. Once in the 2nd game loss I had one cackler out and a ghor-clan in hand... attacked and passed priority, and he then charmed him... Of course I could have won the game if I bloodrushed and he didn't have that card in hand.. but this was just after a revelation and I guessed there was a good chance he had an answer
In my experience, you never want to side out Stromkirk Nobles. There's not a matchup where they can't win the game by themselves. Control especially has a problem with them if they get out of control. The best case situation is that they have to use a Supreme Verdict against a single card on board.
I have not played Gruul sligh, but I think the answer for control is to speed your deck up, not slow it down. If the game goes long, it's often theirs. Once they've cast Sphinx's Revelation once or twice, it's almost impossible to come back.

Ya I can see what you mean. My thought process is that if they are just going to bounce it, it keeps coming back as a 1/1. Maybe next time ill side out more burn and put in the domri's there.
The deck is fast and It can win on turn 4, but chances are it will be turn 5 due to interaction with them. Then you totally lose after supreme verdict.
thanks a lot. I pretty much play on mtgo 90% of the time. Hard to proxy on there but really thinking about investing into mtgo on paper. I may try to go into the store on Tuesday and try it out with proxies! Thanks
I got to testing some games and I am really struggling vs. control matchups. I do not know when to play around azorius charm and supreme verdict. Of course I know not to over extend, but if I don't extend, I don't finish them off. It just seems to buy them time to start gaining life and drawing cards.
I sideboarded out a couple of stromkirk nobles and searing spears for domri, skullcrack, and grafedigger's cage.
Of course, I did not see any of those cards so meh.
Okay so I am looking at a lot of the standard dailies. The biggest difference between the gruul lists is rancor or more burn... Also, they run blasphemous act. Is this brought in vs other aggro and control decks? Seems pretty good for a board wipe and 13 dmg to the dome.
-Rancor
-Boros Reckoner
-Hellrider
-Ghor-Clan Rampager (I've seen blitz run 1-2 at most, usually not a lot of room)
Also can transform into a more midrange deck with Silverhearts, Kessig Wolf run, Hound of Griselbrand, etc. To power through thragtusks better.
Naya blitz's lategame options usually include... Frontline medics? They are more explosive and steal more games early I'm sure, but they just seem more fragile and less flexible than we can make R/g be.
If you constantly answer their threats, and wipe their board and run Flames of the Firebrand its easier to keep them under control.
Or hell maybe I'm just biased
Ok cool, was just curious. I like the idea of being able to go midrange. Do you guys usually sideboard midrange vs most of all aggro and midrange decks? What about control?
So, I am getting sick of standard and am looking into modern. To me, it seems this is one of the few premier modern decks to start out with. It seems to be a good, fun, and affordable deck. Since I am not used to doing modern, is this pretty easy to pick up and play? Would you recommend someone start with this deck?
Ok so, I am looking at 130 ish for a set and the redemption. Granted I will have cards I will not use, but I really think even just the chase rares alone are worth it. I mean even if you just go 10 for each shock, 15 for reckoner, obz, Aurelia, etc. It really does seem to add up pretty close. It seems like the paper versions of the sets go for around 200.
If you sell MTGOTraders tickets for CapeFearGames credit it's a straight 1:1 ratio. If you sell your whole collection to MTGOTraders you can get CFG's credit with an extra 20%.
Thanks for the information. However, that is 1:1 and we all know paper typically is more money. I can purchase a mtgo set with tix on your website correct?
Well, there is the fact that Set Redemption requests are typically bought in cash, not tix, and you still have to pay shipping- so you are going to pay some cash out of pocket if you went that way.
hmm. One of the websites has a paypal payment or ticket option. The ticket option is 110 tix. So, why would I have to pay for shipping for them to send it to my mtgo account?
Unless you mean the 25.00 for the set redemption? That I don't mind spending if it ends up that it is the best deal dollar for dollar.
Well I did look into set prices in paper. I noticed they are going for over 200 on some major sites. It seems like that may be a good conversion rate. Unless I am missing something
It seems like siding out some of the burn is probably a good choice imo
However, I am 2-0 in the daily atm
