Hardly.
I don't think some WB General that doubled life drains,
or had a repeatable Reanimation ability would be $50.
The real lack of imagination here is on Wizards' part-
Why can't they print a WB General that's totally unlike any of the others?
I was exaggerating to try and make the point that a card's value isn't in how
rigged it is at first glance or by setting it up in a scenario synonymous to
walking into Worse Case Scenario Town, Pompeii.
A grand portion of visitors here aren't happy with a preview unless it replaces
something in their currently established decks. Unless it strengthens their
favorite archetype or draws them in to trying out a new one on that never-
ending quest to build the best standard/modern/legacy deck and go
undefeated, then it is trash.
And just in case, no. I am not an apostate of EDH. I play modern; mostly the
fringe archetypes. I mean.. I do play EDH, but I enjoy modern way more.
This is unlike any other orzhov general. Not that we have an exorbitant
amount of white/black generals to compare the Triad to, but I am anxious to
try her out!
It doesn't take imagination to be handed yet another card that combos with Freed from the Real and an unhealthy amount of mana.
Also, Blink doesn't take all that much imagination at this point when you're talking about eternal formats like EDH. There are a gazillion triggers and honestly those value creatures are all the creatures that get played anyway.
The Fates are horrible, horrendous trash. They could have really pushed this in any number of ways, even if it meant something like bringing the P/T down from the 'square' 3/3 to round out the overall power, and give us something that is not SO, SO, SO slow that it makes Eater of Days look fast.
I am giggling over all of these folks that are judging the Fates harshly. It really
separates those with the imagination to build something fun from those who
want the game handed to them in the form of a super-efficient $50+ card.
umm...Demons are dudes? No one really said this was true. I just assumed they were buffed up lady fiends. I mean look at renegade demon and tell me those are not boobies. And The Wretched? That is clearly a female pelvis. I think perhaps you might be a bit sexist in your traditional values concerning demons. Things could be better for you if you just start imagining lady parts under those loin cloths.
*can't tell if trolling*
Anyways, pecs. Those boobies are demonic man boobs or 'd-moobs'.
Huh, come to think of it, Wizards never really specified that Archons had to be male, did they?
(I still think it's stupid that they won't allow female demons or male angels; it doesn't really make any sense with the flavor of what a demon or angel is in Magic.)
Yes, clearly Wizards refuses to print anything for standard. That Fleecemane Lion is totally meant for EDH.
I chalk it up to gender stereotypical tropes, like when you compare the
traits of an angel with women and demons with men.
I completely agree. This card really blows for the mana cost. If they wanted it to be standard playable (and come on, are there REALLY any other c
Formats out there), it should have cost UU and said "counter target spell"
I think you have come to your own conclusion in the matter. They did not
want it to be played easily in standard, and will definitely find homes in both
EDH and limited.
How shocking.

My point stands!

Just how many other albino leonins can you name from MTG?
Not a single one of those cards expressly targets a planeswalker per errata,
but we see what you're trying to say here.
gorgeous. Also loving the bestow mechanic.
Love each of these cards. Moar!

Oh man.. that would've been so much fun to play in standard.
