  • posted a message on Speed poison, death, and the stack
It is possible for things to play out like you say, because the stack resolves in reverse order (last spell put onto the stack is first to resolve). If all of the pumping spells are cast in response to one another, they are all on the stack targeting the infect creature, so a single Lightning Bolt, cast after the pump spells, could kill the creature, causing the pump spells to be countered, as their target is no longer on the battlefield.

However, if a player casts one pump spell (perhaps Invigorate) and allows it to resolve before casting another (like Mutagenic Growth) then the situation is different, and the attacking player would not spend all their spells only to be foiled by a single Bolt.

Basically, yes, the situation you describe is possible. However, it is not the way the situation will always play out.

The mobile version of the site liked my answer so much it posted it twice. Edited it out, apologies.

Had to reread it to check if it was on combat damage...yep. So not quite as silly with Dromoka's Command as it could be. Ver sweet and silly card.

Quite okay , I guess. I did not expect to see Ride Down again so soon Smile Plant Skeleton is a cool creature type. Geists flavortext ia trying too hard,IMO.

I kinda like the flavort text, but it might be because I work in a lab and have written "Next action needed: clean up" many times.

    Quote from Freskolt »

Today every card is a gatherer/oracle reading/memory exercise and the comprehensive rules barely mean anything at all.

Could you point out the most recently printed card that has Oracle text different from its printed text?

As to the comprehensive rules, I'm not sure what to say. The fact that you have difficulty with them does not make them meaningless.

I started playing this deck recently after putting it down for a while (last attempts were before Ego printing).

IMO, you really need the Traverse the Ulvenwald engine. I'm running 4 Den Protectors with Vessels of Nascency as well as Angelic Purges + Hangarbacks to hit delirium consistently. This lets you cut down to 1 Linvala, 1 Scalelord (he suuuuucks to draw most of the time), 2-3 Egos and play a big toolbox.

Currently on 1 Negate main and 3 side. Removal package is 4 D-Command and 2 Purges plus 1 Q Field (2 more side plus 1 each T.Arrogance and P.Outburst).

I have done quite well so far, keep top 8ing events around here and keep chiseling it down to the right 75. Let me know if you want more info about my build! It uses the combo to win ~25% of the time.

  • posted a message on Playing Magic in Spain without speaking Spanish?
Well, you are always allowed to ask for Oracle text in another language from the judge, though it might be hard to convey. If you really want to make it work, you're gonna need to study up so you know every card by art/CMC, at least roughly. Also, pick a few useful phrases to memorize, and maybe check on the Spanish words for the most important Magic terms (target, cast, graveyard, etc).

Personally I've done it a few times in different countries, for FNMs, drafts and PTQs. It is a challenge, and the new cards will be more of a challenge for you, but I do think its certainly doable, if a bit awkward. I find that the best English speaker at the LGS becomes my translator-friend for the night, because in general Magic players are excited to meet foreigners who want to enjoy the event and understand that people need some help in an unfamiliar setting. Though, the English speaker will vary in fluency depending on where you are, of course. In Copenhagan, Denmark everyone, including the grade school kids, spoke English; in a small coastal town in France, it was pretty much just me and my French skills (I'm fluent, fortunatately). So your mileage may vary.

Arlinn looks to be in her mid 40s, and she's the oldest looking walker we've seen recently. (Baring Liliana's brief stint as a withered croon.)

Arlin is definitely 40ish, and Sorin's recent art, compared to previous depictions, really make him look like a paunchy middle aged guy in Twilight cosplay.

How about you backing off and stop telling people what they should or shouldn't be doing instead, fair?

"Stop telling people what to do!" he ordered, valiantly attempting to tell someome what to do.

  • posted a message on Explanation of Omniscience's wording
Well you already answered your own question in your OP. Lands can't be cast anyway, so no, you will never face a situation where Omniscience's wording prevents you from casting anything. Sometimes Oracle wordings are slightly off.

You should note in general, though, that typos and nonsensical textual mistakes happen every so often on Magic cards. Its a reality of a huge card-base and frequently updated rules. Its not the end of the world.

This is ultimately no trickier than any other layers-related question. I am on a phone, so rather than lay out the usual shpiel on layers I have a handy link to one of the many times this question has been answered by folks smarter than me.

    http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/magic-fundamentals/magic-rulings/magic-rulings-archives/299615-opalescence-and-humility

With the second opalescence, you simply apply the same principles: now there is an Opalescence with a timestamp later than Humility's: problem solved! No dividing by zero necessary.

Edit: I see now you were saying Humility first, then two Opals... in that case, nothing special happens. Both Opals have a timestamp later than the Humility, so its the same as if there was just one Opal.

  • posted a message on Ulamog and Kozilek were....... Planeswalkers?
Pre-Mending walkers under the influence of and amped up in power by Emrakul, THE devourer of worlds

Hey, now that's a cool idea! If they were in the Blind Eternities when The Mending happened, maybe they weren't affected by it at all.

And the BFZ point is good, the titans came as three last time, but this time they came as 2 + 1, giving some reasoning as to why the walkers could kamehameha them to death.

  • posted a message on Ulamog and Kozilek were....... Planeswalkers?
I'm on the same wavelength as the OP, and I was just thinking recently that Magic is due for a big death/loss. It can't be one of the five, but given the Brusela pic, as someone said above, I could totally see us losing Sorin or Nahiri as Emrakul tries to replace her henchmen that got killed in OGW with a brand new titan.

Imagine if Ugin, who said he was gonna study the dead titans corpses, gets Eldrazified by spending too much time hanging around their essence. That would be wicked.

  • posted a message on Liliana's card is called "Liliana, the Last Hope"
Neat! Gives the impression that Lili will be needed to deal with Emrakul, which a lot of people already speculated on.

Wonder if she'll be a bigwalker or a littlewalker? We've had a good balance between her previous versions, so where will this one fall?

  • posted a message on Interupting a combo with an instant
Based on how you describe the situation, he gets to flash in his last druid and steal your lands. You say you wait until the 6th druid hits the board, which means he can respond to your instant with the 7th druid and has 7 druids while your spell is still on the stack. Then he responds with his activated ability, it resolves, and then your spell resolves.

If you wait until he casts the 7th druid, you can respond with the removal, but if he has an 8th druid that fits Aluren's criteria, he can flash it in in response and still get the lands.
