Why are we even discussing this? It's not happening, Wizard almost never gives into pressure from the community. Rule change, new frames are some issues that just stuck despite heavy protest. They especially are not going to do anything when the community is fragmented on the issue to begin with.

A year ago, I spoke with a floor trader at a GP with a bunch of japanese foils who claimed that he basically flew back and forth from the US to Japan (for another business) and used his knowledge of price arbitrage to create such a massive collection of japanese foils. (He basically said he traded english foils for japanese foils straight up, and then came back here)

But, maybe the guy is full of crap and he was just telling me a story. He's a floor trader, after all.

    Thanks for answering my question.

Actually, it's definitely possible to make money since there is a definite price disparity between Japan and the world in terms of card prices.

For example, eternal staples are much higher in Japan, due to the fact that they all had to be imported. Therefore, you could reliably take, for example, duals into Japan and trade them for more recent Japanese foils at a premium.

There also used to be a long period where Japanese foils were much lower in Japan than elsewhere. Dealers in nearby countries like Singapore, would take advantage by buying the cards in Japan, then flipping them on ebay. However, the Japanese market has caught up to that practice, and thus, prices domestically for foils have gone up. This has in turn caused a lot of foil cards to stay on shore, since people are willing to pay more domestically.

Anyway, that's my understanding of the situation.

    Evidence?

You're the one who made the initial outrageous claim. Perhaps you should give some evidence?

Also, your claim was vague as hell, did you mean:

    1. EN foils are as rare as JP foils are in the US? (FALSE)
    2. EN foils are as sought after as JP foils are in the US? (FALSE)
    3. EN foils are as expensive as JP foils are in the US? (FALSE)

But if you want some evidence, here:

    http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u57781573

Sure, some people in Japan might want to foil out in English, but that's very rare. People who want to pimp in Japan go for foil Japanese or foil in a rarer language.

    One last thing:

Well, it's Modern playable, but that's pretty much it. Maybe a one of in Vintage.

I don't think the price will appreciate much after its rotation.

I shake if it's offered, but I never offer. I find many people in my LGS unsanitary, so I don't quite want to shake their hands. Additionally, I wipe my hands down before I play, so I don't want to contaminate them again.

Don't feel bad, this is 95% fake. This is pretty well known, 'ex wife/gf', 'mom', 'grandson', etc, selling collection. They have 'no idea' what's in it, but there's no refund.

I'm surprised these wasn't a page of some alpha commons in the pics to entice people to bid. Anyway, of the 5% chance that this is legit, do you really think the ex husband would leave P9, or anything valuable like that with the ex wife?

These guys are going for $110~130 right now, I've been looking for a set, but it seems really high now. What do you guys think it will settle at in maybe 6 months? What's a reasonable price to pick them up as?

I feel like it's 'power memory'. One of those things that really blew up in R&D's face during its standard run, and banning all 5 really made them lose face. Thus, they won't even bother entertaining the idea of any new artifact lands.

Many things on the B&R list suffers from power memory. Stuff like mind twist being banned in legacy, and many cards on the banned list for modern (eg bitterblossom, bloodbraid) are also victims of it.
