Having a little bit of trouble working out which Aura to use here, the choice is either Mantle of Webs or Spider Umbra I like how Mantle of Webs and Doran, the Siege Tower means my weakest creature can block or attack as a 6/6, but Spider Umbra has a lower mana cost and can be used to protect more valuable cards like Timber Protector so it gives me more options for defence. So what do you think and why?
Other suggestions or recommendations are also welcome, I would like to add an exile creature option, probably in the sideboard. Budget is roughly $250 and this is around $200 at the moment.
So for more context regarding the decision, here is the deck I plan to use it in.
The goal here is to put Spectra Ward on Palisade Giant. Use Crypt Ghast to let me do so sooner and if things go south, board wipe and start again.
With Ajani and Concerted Effort I get a nice range of abilities and Lily gives me the cards I need if things just aren't drawing.
However, I need to put in some of the board wipes which means removing something, or something I don't see.
Really happy with creatures and land, it's just the rest that is giving me trouble.
This deck isn't meant to be particularly competitive, it's only for 'kitchen table' play, but we adhere to the modern format.
G'day.
I'm Kaine, an Aussie from near-Toowoomba.
Magic started for me when I got invited by some work mates to check it out, they advised me to play the MTG Duel of the Planeswalkers, after getting bored with a lack of options I bought a deck and a few cards then tagged along. That was around a year ago, since then I built roughly 18 decks, discarded five and am working on another five at the moment.
Definitely prefer B over any other colour, only one mono-B so far though, out of the 23 decks, four have no B what so ever.
Favourite deck would be either my Zombie or Minotaur decks, and favourite creature would be This guy.
Have not gone along to a FNM yet, as I work Friday nights, but I don't really play competitively I just play to enjoy myself.
Though there is quite a bit of satisfaction in building a deck and watching it crush my opponents. -Insert evil laughter here-
