Considering the theme of the set, I am surprised the card doesn't just says historic permanents. I actually wonder if this might be lost in the translation.

I don’t remember me saying anything bad about Alpha investment. However if someone is sending people to that channel then it is highly important to also tell about the business model of Alpha investment.
I have sometimes the feeling that people very thoroughly check out dozens of car workshops before choosing which one to repair a flat tyre. Then the same people are very deliberately just embracing every word that a former broker, aka Sales man, like Rudy tells them.

You said that telling someone to check out Alpha Investments was bad advice. So clearly, there is something wrong with the channel if a simple suggestion is considered to be bad. Otherwise, you wouldn't have labeled what I said as being "bad advice".

Presumably, we are all adults here. As an adult, if one treats someone's word as gospel, just because they have a successful YouTube channel that person would be an idiot. Because of this I see no need to give warming about someones channel and the motives that person has in running the channel.

May your taco always remain floppy my friend.

You seem to have a issue with Alpha Investments. But simply telling someone to check out the channel is far from bad advice.

Check out Alpha Investments on YouTube.

Most new sets are printed to oblivion and will not appreciate like older sets have. Of the new sets, I would buy Unstable. Long term there will be demand for the basic lands.

Does anyone expect any of these cards to show up in Dominaria?

I'm offically calling this "Jace-washing". Take a bunch of iconic blue cards and slap Jace on the art. I wish WotC would give up on the whole guild pact stuff.

I personally don't see why everyone is so up in arms over this set. There are plenty of valuable reprints and the set looks like a truly unique, fun set to draft. Obviously it's not perfect, but I'm looking forward to drafting it.

I wouldn't say I am up in arms, but the set seems to have missed the mark. There are just so many cards missing, that are replaced by random stuff. Things like Fencing Ace, Path of Peace, Thresher Lizard, among others have no place in the set. Also, like some people have already mentioned, there are a few iconic combos in the set, like Hulk Flash, but nothing to really support it. I also see Squadron Hawk, but nothing else to really support CawBlade, not even any notable Equipment, let alone Stoneforge Mystic. Not only that, but I personally would have liked to see a better sampling of abilities from Magic's past. The first card I thought of was Mist Dragon, but I know that is on the RL. So while the RL does make it hard to include a lot of iconic and memorable cards, there are still a lot of options out there.

For me, this set is a real disappointment. When the masters set came out in the fall, I expected a lot because it was billed as being "iconic". And with Masters 25, it was supposed to be a reflection of Magic's 25 years. It really doesn't feel like we are celebrating anything here, just another year of selling booster boxes for Wizards.

But the biggest let down is the absence of a huge chunk of Magic's past. It's not even cards of high value, I mean where is Kird Ape, Psychatog, Fire // Ice, Howling Mine, Zuran Orb, Splinter Twin, and so on? And than there are all the money cards that had a huge impact on the game like Tarmogoyf, Cavern of Souls, Mana Drain, ect..

I was really looking forward to drafting this set, and playing with a bunch of memorable cards from across the last 25 years of Magic. Now, I could care less about the set.

This would radically change the format as well as make understanding what is and isn't legal extremely complicated. adding unnecessary complexity sounds like a bad idea.

While, I agree it would radically change the format, dismissing the idea because you think it's complicated signals to me you are against change over anything else. Furthermore, to suggest that the idea is complex is an exaggeration. Complexity, suggests that my idea is intricate and consists of many moving parts. My proposed metric for card legality basically says "when was the card last printed? what was its rarity for that printing?" To me, that seems like a very straightforward process.

Magic on the other hand, is actually a very complex game (as I am sure you are aware). Yet many people understand the game and play it without issue.

Now if I said that, every common, that also has a printing at uncommon is restricted, and if it's 3rd printing is also uncommon it's banned. While if it's printing after being printed an uncommon, is common, it is unrestricted. And finally if it was every printed at rare, it's banned outright. That to me seems "complex".

So I don't play Pauper, but have interest in the format. However, it's my understanding that the cards legal in the format need to have a printing at common at some point in their life. That being true, has anyone proposed using a different definition of what is legal? My thought is that the most recent printing determines the legality of the card. Has this been presented before? What's your take on this?

Considering Rush is no longer with us, I think they should have honored him by using the art on the cards. They could have spoke with his family and worked something out.

Are these going to be modern legal then?

Only cards printed as a Standard legal set, are legal in modern. This set will not be Standard legal on release, just like Eternal Masters, Conspiracy, ect, ect.

Strictly worse than Pyroblast and Hydroblast! This set is trash.

You could Misdirection/Deflection a Pyroblast that is targeting your Air Elemental to a Island or any permanent, but you couldn't do the same to a Red Elemental Blast.

I'd stay away from EBay, it's a waste of time and effort. Between EBay fees and PayPal fees, you'll end up dishing out around 20% of the value, and w/ EBay, there is much competition, so you will have to settle for the low end of the spectrum. LGS will not buy a collector's edition card (this advice is aimed mostly at the CE Ancestral). I wouldn't listen to urweak regarding Pucatrade. I have succeeded in getting cards like Elephant Graveyard and Old Man from the Sea on that site. Like anything in life, you get back what you put in.

Very true about the fees, you will lose 20% of whatever you sell on there.

If a LGS doesnt buy something like a IE/CE Acall, they're doing something wrong. Unless they only sell Standard legal cards. Like I mentioned, IE/CE cards are legal in 93/94 so there are people out there that really want these (considering the current prices on a ABU version).

As for Puca, I've been a member since '14/'15 and saw the site go from something beneficial to the community, to what it is now. I've received duals and other high end RL cards on there, but that was a long time ago. I really wish I was wrong, but since the way the site has change it's just not worth it anymore. Personally, I would rather spend the time doing other things with my life, but I can see how putting in work on Puca, could be a hobby unto itself.
