    I did a Top 8 on a recent legacy event in south Brazil with 47 players, here is the deckles and a report:



    6 Rounds:

    R1 - W Eldrazi 2-0
    G1 - Pretty straight forward, got a crystalline down turn 2 with cavern and a tundra, then when on to land a 3 lords on the next turns, he misplayed trying to go with a TKS with a a eye and 2 plains, got a warning out of that but he saw my hand, couldn't play it and gone for a displacer, 2 attacks and he was down.
    G2 - Same start as game 1, got a Crystalline down, this time he opened with mimic into TKS, down 14 (did a fetch) got 1 lord, next turn, he attacks with TKS and pass, then third lord and he plays a smasher but doesn't attack since I can trade him and he as 2 cards in hand, top deck a gale rider and beat for the win.

    R2 - Colorless Eldrazi 1-2
    G1 - He starts off with mimic into a reshaper, I go with mana into lord, drops another mimic and is stuck a a sol land a colorless one, i drop crystalline and 2 lords, he drops land and a TKS and I have nothing in hand, beats me, he is down to 18 from sol land, I topped a galerder, beat him to down to 13, and hold a few back to block, another lord and swing for the win.
    G2 - he goes mimic, mimic, TKS, I had Crystalline into lord, can't gold the pressure.
    G3 - last game I have 1 color land and 2 mutavaults, but I have managed, so I go for it, and play 1 lord, not drawing any lands I go for shard less and clear some lands from the top, got a few lords, and start drawing lands, no cavern, he plays a chalice, into 2 micros and later a reshaper, we trade some with the mimics, he drops TKS into smasher I phantasmal the smasher and don't draw gas, we trade TKS and smasher with lord and phantasmal, I keep 3 sliver in board he drops unless one for 6 pass, I draw land pass and he goes all is dust, and all is dust...

    R3 - Grixis Delver 2-0
    G1 - 2 delvers, no flips I play lord into crystalline, he can't do anything, I beat him down.
    G2 - 4 delvers and no flips, he goes DRS, I have crystalline and lords, he can't take it.

    R4 - Lands 2-0
    G1 - He goes with land and mox into gamble for loam, gets a tabernacle on turn 4. and a thespian stage on turn 5, I go lord manaweft and 2 mutavaults and beat him while paying for lord and manaweft, got 2 other lands to beat him, he goes for crop to dark depth I FoW, he 2 more attacks he is dead.
    G2 - he goes mox,mox and tabernacle, and gambles for something (no idea), he discarded a dark depths and a maze, I played vial into needle naming thespian, into a lord and a manaweft have 1 mutavault, he gambles twice and doesn't hit the discard he needed, can only generate 2 mana, no mana lands, he destroys my needle and then goes for crop for depths to combo, I FoW and beat for the win.

    R5 - Leovold stoneblade 2-0
    G1 - He goes land, I go cavern, he goes baleful strix, I go crystalline sliver and he draws a StP, I go lord lord, he get fire and ice, I trade strix on mutavault 1 of 2, he drops TNN, game goes into lock since I can kill on a swing even with a block, he equipes TNN, I draw galerider and swing for the win.
    G2 - He drops stoneforge, I drop crystalline, and lord, he passes with mana open, I attack he chumps and drops a fire and ice (his mistake should've gotten batter skull), he drops a strix and I attack with mutavaults he doesn't block, goes don't go for the race, I drop 2 more lords, and beat him out.

    R6 - ID into top 8

    Top 8 - Mono Red Prison 1-2
    G1 - He goes blood sun I need to find a forest, he drops spyglass and names aethervial, I find my source, drop manaweft, gale rider, he drops 2 bridges but still have 4 cards in hand, I drop crystalline into lord, and beat him down, he was taking 2 a drop because of Tomb.
    G2 - he goes blood moon, into Chandra torch of defiance, I have crystalline and lord, when was gonna go for harmonic he drops fiery confluence, and wins
    G3 - he goes spyglass for aether vial, after I drop vial, and then blood moon I already have a forest in play, he drops Chandra, I go managed into harmonic and galerider, he drops blood sun and attempts a fiery confluence which I FoW, he drops blood sun and pass, I swing to kill Chandra, he drops pyromancer and bridge, I don't have any drops, and pass he gets another confluence and wins.


    Conclusion:

    Pretty happy with the deck, just a few changes to sideboard since I'm missing some cards, but pretty happy.

    Game 3 - Moderate start I control the board for a long while, kill his first restoraion angel, had to shoot down 3 birds, and the second restoration sticks, I'm at 8 life, and no kilk spells, go for Pia and Kiran for protection, leaving 3 mana open and only dispel and bolt in hand, he Chords for 3 and get Spellskite (Should've Dispelled i completely forgot about Chord since it didn't come game 1 or 2) he has kiki and hand, I have no outs. GG

    Game 1 - I control the board the whole game (Counter Goyf and kill 2 Oozes), took 2 inquisitions but I had redundancy in hand, she goes down to 2 cards and plays liliana, I discard a land she discards a goyf and has board control, I bolt the Ooze on the pass(She leaves no mana to activate it),Draw, play land and pass, She draws, try for a goyf I counter and she ups liliana, I discard a Spell Pirce, go for Snapcaster at the end of her Turn without flashbacking anything, Draw hit lili, pass and Kolaghans command her on her draw step, doing 2 to lili (she is down to 1 loyalty) she plays land, ups lili and pass,
    I kill lili, play tasigur and pass. she plays finks, i kill it on the end of her turn and on my phase again, and swing with Tasigur Snap and Creeping tar for the Win.
    Game 2 - She mulligans to 5 cards, and plays shock, and non colored mana generator (forgot the land) and stucks at 2 lands for a while, i take the game fast.

    No sides, I have a good match up here.

    Round 3 (Lantern)Win 2-0(couldn't believe i won but awesome games)
    Game 1 - I counter some stuff, and cant keep countering for much longer, he plays a Bridge, I play a Pia and Kiran, he mills me and pass, i play Kolaghan's, destroy the bridge and kill with pia and Kiran. He had 2 lanterns and 2 bells so he could control for a while, but i played 2 K-commands and snaped one back once i was down to 20 cards on the deck.
    Game 2 - Pretty much game one,He hits all 4 bidges during the game,I needle his ghoulcallers, he needles my Polluted Delta, since for the fear of the shuffle, He milled my hurkyl's, 2 of my Kolaghan andd 2 Snaps to the grave, he used Cranial on my Cryptic Command at the begning and the Hurkyl's later but i only play one of each,I play 1 tasigur remove all the spells i don't want from my grave,I activate it and mill the other one he gives me it, i remove more useless spells from the grave, and start activating Tasigur a few times and his only options became damage spells and Snapcaster and Artifact Destruction, he gave me bolt twice, he tries to mills my shatterstorm and reveals Snapcaster, Activate Lantern, reveals Kolaghan's he lanterns again we can't see the top now, i draw a bolt and goes to the face, pass, he draws land and another bridge off Seagate, i draw Snap, and go snap shatterstorm, and start hiit him down to 2, he top decks the last a Shredder and use it to bring back a bridge. i topdeck a Bolt and GG

    Game 1 - he takes a while to develop a decent amount of lands, giving me time to build some lands and counters, he plays Thought Knot i counter it twice, he goes to 6 lands, plays the Oblivion Sower, hits 3 lands, and 2 off from the fetchs i blew and he Removed with relic, I terminate the Oblivion Sower, hits critical mass (10 mana) but he is down to 5 life, he plays Ulamog, hits one of my Creeping tar Pits, i had the other in hand, I play it and pass, he swings I go down to 2, I mill 20 but i still have 16 cards, and 2 bolts and a Kolaghans in the deck, i don't hit neither and Lose.
    Game 2 - The Ridiculous game. He hits his lands very fast, has 2 temples an eye and Urborg in play, i don't draw my side nor thoughtseizes, he goes for turn 1 relic, turn 3 Thoughtknot i counter, turn 4 Oblivion Sower and hits my fetches, and turn 5 Ulamog. GG

    Eldrazis is so non interactive with the triggers on cast and the fast eldrazi temples is rediculous.

    My meta is VERY diversified, the only deck that wasn't there today was Affinity.



    Really enjoyed your tournament breakdown, I'm glad to see Grixis has a fighting chance in this meta. What is your opinion of Ashiok? It seems like you bring him in very often, I always thought he was best against G/b/x decks and not great against anything else really.


    I think Ashiok is great. It can take creatures from your opponents or important combo pieces and it is almost always a target of the opponent, buying you more time.


    He is a very serious threat, on kiki-chord my opponent didn't give ashiok much, and he was overwhelmed by it. against Lantern Ashiok seens kind strange, but he is a powerhouse, the lack of removal on Lantern and the fact that if it sticks to the board i can mill him faster than he mills me made my Opponent mill it when he saw on the top of my deck.

    In this tournamen I was testing Ashiok against most of my matches to sse how he goes. in my opinion overperformed against Kiki-chord, was a threat against Lantern, and didn't see it against Eldrazi.

    I'm kinda lost about Jace AoT on the side, I can't seen to know when he is good to board in.

    also, I can see small price increases in the Elf deck taking place. (makes sense, elves is fairly well positioned against eldrazi, with 4 maindeck cavern of souls and a hideously quick clock when eldrazi only plays 3 or 4 removal spells)



    4 Maindeck Cavern of Souls means nothing to eldrazi, they don't mind it at all. now the lack of removal and trample in the eldrazi decks (aside from UR which has flyers and trample) i can see elves going up, but they have some serious bad matches recently, and with the printing of spells like kozilek's return, anger of the gods and flaying tendrils,i can't see them as a good spec target.

    What i can foresee (and mostly everyone) is a ban on piece or pieces of the eldrazi deck (most likely eye of ugin, since ti allows for explosive turn 1 and 2 plays) and that will make cards from decks like, kiki-chord and UWx control spike because they become alot better in that environment.

    Indeed the madlands would be too good for modern and legacy (In specific decks), but what do we know? they printed stupidly broken eldrazis with eye of ugin and Eldrazi Temple out there. I don't doubt anything anymore.

    And U Grove wouldn't be broken, good but not broken.

    God please no more pain lands, at least not now, I'm sick and tired of that cycle.

    The discard lands are even broken for legacy reanimators, turn 1 griselbrand or enrakul, off 1 land? simply ridiculous, but i can see them working on modern, they are good, but only 1 reanimator spell on modern that can be considered. Goryos.

    They are maybe believable at lower rarity for limited purposes (limited need madness enabler, and often manafixing), though they seem better than the best lands we have at non-rare level (refuges and trilands).


    That thought just made my reanimator decks tremble

    Did some test games today, took a good beating of white weenies 2-1 and beat an Jeskai control (with ojutai), I've been thinking of adding 2 stubborn denials, and the 1 of languish mainboard helped me on the games against white winnies

    The deck seens pretty well suited for Languish, you have plenty of 5 toughness.
    this is making me want to sleeve up and try it on my meta,i will only cut 1 Mamatic for a Dig and 1 Dragonlord Kolaghan for a Fate Kolaghan, it reaps more benefits from a board with 2 or more creatures

    As marquisd said, the 5 lands are either uncommom, or have 2-3 rares in it, because we're missing 2 rare sin white, to complete the 9 rares (Cycle?) in each color.

    I hope we get 2-3 nonbaisc uncommons lands and 2-3 rares, I think one of those lands is based of Vrynn, it just fit the theme i get from Vrynn so well.
