Nope. I have no idea how that happened. I just checked, and apparently all of my sideways cards have the shadow going the wrong way. Thanks for pointing it out though. I certainly didn't notice it.
When playing with drop shadows in Photoshop, ensure that "Use Global Light" is UNCHECKED before making edits, or changing the position.
I also have a 1 Aetherling, 2 Elspeth spread. After some testing, I am pretty sure that my list will be 3 Elspeth, 2 Aetherling in the board.
Elspeth is not a finisher, but she can finish. I have won multiple games by swinging with six to nine 3/3 flyers.
Swapping them out to 1 Elspeth, 2 Aetherling main, against Heroes Downfall/Dreadbore.dec is what I will be doing from now on.
I feel like playing planeswalkers on a whole, has been neutered with the addition of playable cards that interact with them. In my UWR, I have started playing a couple "Catch//Release" in the sideboard, just to catch opposing poppable Elspeth/Domri/Jace unawares, similar to how Zealous Conscripts stole full up planeswalkers last season.
Drake Tsui did a whole bunch of walkers like this. I would be surprised if there wasn't already a set of them done on this thread somewhere. Perhaps someone that remembers could dig it up for posterity?
On topic, this is a really great render Dgaretz, keep up the great work.
@rhakee: If you head over to the Z's Proxy Factory G+ community, you can make requests.
@HolyProxyBatman: Don't give up! I have faith that that you can make this work. I have a feeling that the visual interpretation of this card is what's making people (yourself included) feel that this style is "wrong". IMO, the problem is that this template's content is a-symmetric, and the frame is panoramic-symmetrical. Take into consideration this (very quickly done) example of a template that is aligned for symmetry:
See if this concept can help you make a more visually appealing template! I look forward to the results!
Looks good! The only critique I would throw your way, is to tighten up the drop shadow on the mana cost. Spread = 1. Maybe give the text in the text box some padding below and above, utilize the whitespace between rules and flavor.
Proxy Usage for Monstrous Creatures in Sanctioned Tournament Play
Hi swirling internet judge-mass! I have a question about using a printed card to represent the change when you activate the Monstrous ability.
In a proxy thread on another site, we have been tossing around the idea of using a designed proxy card to represent monstrous. As in, when you activate Monstrous, you pull this proxy from your deck box and place it over top of the Monstrous creature, so it shows the new form and information.
We soon realized that placing X +1/+1 counters is part of the resolution of the ability, so the proxy would have to retain the original power and toughness, and we would still have to put X counters on the Monstrous permanent.
We also realized that having the monstrous activation cost as the proxies casting cost was a bad idea, as it may lead to players thinking that the permanent under the proxy has the same mana cost.
I came up with this template, where the gray checks represent an actual cut out in the proxy. Placed in a transparent sleeve, you would be able to see the information under the proxy, and still put a counter on it in order to maintain the game state.
I have a few questions regarding this series of events;
1) Would either of these proxies be allowed to represent (be placed on top of) monstrous during sanctioned magic events? What would keep them from being used in this fashion?
2) Are there rules or stipulations for proxies or "token" cards that I may not have taken into account?
3) Does anyone know of any infractions, penalties or warnings issued at events for using another card to represent a changed card?
The major downside of this card is that your opponent can "undo" it without paying any mana or life. So that four mana and a turn that you invested bought you two cards that you cant cast, and now your opponent is drawing a card and swinging in, with all his mana untapped.
It simply doesn't alter the game state to your advantage enough for 4 mana.
The best proxy source this side of Venus. All your dropboxes are moot.
As you've been warned in the recent past, the promotion of proxying is an illegal activity. Link removed, infraction issued. -BBull
I beta'd PS 3.x builds on my Pent 2 266 Celeron, and there are STILL things that I am finding out about it on a daily basis.
Magic Card Xmas Present!
One blanked foil flip card, or just a regular blanked-on-both-sides card.

Print one image on each side, punch holes at the top and bottom, insert string in each hole and tie off, spin it up and voila!

No love for Samuel L. Jackson as Teferi on MTG Sal?? I posted this a few weeks ago, and I think it might have gotten lost in the shuffle...

LETS CHANGE THAT!
ITS ADVENTURE TIME!
Sorry for the huge sheet, it was easier than doing nine spoilers.
