I recently bought the Eternal Bargain commander deck (Esper) to find that many of the cards are miscut. I am not interested in miscut cards and would like to know the value so that I can trade it away.
Here are some pics of the deck. If you want closer up pics of certain cards, let me know.
I want to make a blue/green Edric deck that focuses on using creatures with cool effects once they do combat damage. I also need to add cards that will help them do combat damage (Flying/Unblockability/etc). Reusability for the utility cards is key. I don't want too many one use unblockability cards.
What do you guys think the best ideas for creatures and utility cards for this deck would be?
Don't want to steal yours, but if there are any others after Magnetman gets one I would love one. Seriously at the last PAX apparently they were thrown all over the place, so I would imagine its pretty easy to get some extras.
The first four books, even though they're not necessarily part of what's become Magic's "storyline," are actually my favorites. I've probably read Arena a dozen times.
I agree whole-heartedly. While not connected to any storyline, Arena is a GREAT book. Instead of forcing a story using characters from the card game, it uses the card game as a basis for a good fantasy book. The other older Magic books are OK, but none stand up to Arena.
I am currently reading Agents of Artifice, and so far I can say it is completely average for a fantasy book. But if you want to know more about the planeswalker characters I would suggest it.
I had a great pre-release going 3-1 losing to the winner thanks to my insane rare pulls. They also helped me pull off the most devestating play I have had the honor of playing.
Game is going normally with small creatures on each side, then on turn 5 I play my Spellbound Dragon. The next turn I proceed to attack with him and discard Sphinx of the Steelwind dealing 11 damage with the dragon. I then play Sharuum the Hegemon to get back the Sphinx shocking my opponent. People were talking about that throughout the tournament.
Thanks the info. Between memorization and what I know in Japanese I could prolly get by ok with Japanese cards. Thats good to know that alot of magic lingo is in english, thought I would have to learn it all over again. I actually hope the cards will be in Japanese for fun factor and learning to an extent. My group of friends back in the states loved Japanese cards but only one other then myself could actually read the cards. This lead to some annoying games where people were playing cards they didnt remember correct and couldnt read the Japanese. Im mostly worried about missing some stuff on the card, cause I tend to do that in english too if I dont read carefully.
I did finally get an email back from a store whom I sent some questions. So it looks like next Saturday sometime before 11 I will be near Kanazawa enjoying my first foreign Pre-Release. Itll be a fun hour drive for me too, so knowing me Ill get lost along the way.
Thanks for the fast answer and info. I actually live in Toyama pref, so the 3 and a half hour trek to Tokyo is sadly out of my league. But the info you gave will help. I will prolly end up leaving early on Sunday to see what I can find.
Edit- Had to change my location, forgot to do that since I left.
I have recently moved to Japan and currently live in the middle of nowhere, but I am considering driving to Kanazawa for the pre-release. So I wanted to know if anyone has any experiance at Japanese pre-releases and had some questions.
-Are the cards all in Japanese? (This is a duh question, but Im asking anyway)
-What time do they normally start?
-Average price?
Also if anyone on this forum happens to be going to Kanazawa for alara send me a PM or post here. Maybe we can meet up for it. Or you can just post experiences at Japanese pre-releases if you have any. Hopefully there are some english speaking magic players in Japan!
It ended up not mattering as my deck carried me through the next 2 games of the match so that I made it to the next round. I probably would have asked for a refund had I lost.
Now I had been surviving so far by faerie alone and was in trouble because of my mana flood. So I go and attack, and rip off the top of his library with the clique to reveal Jaws of Stone. Now I am jumping up and down thinking I will go ahead and use the flask to cast it and wrath his board. I mean topdecking off his deck for the win would have really been a "pwned" play.
But alas I am playing on v3 MTGO and when I try to cast jaws it counts HIS 2 mountains and not my 9. So I end up losing to the stupid client bug making this my worst pwned play ever.
My knowledge of the rules says you should not have won that match. To my knowledge, you can only conspire a spell once. Someone let me know if I am wrong here. Otherwise, props on the victory and having your opponent not catch that mistake.
Burn trail already has conspire on it, and then Wort adds another Conspire on it. So multiple versions of it stack and you can conspire twice, but normally you are right and he can only conspire once.

Just a quick question on the wording as its an old card. Does it mean all lands and creatures in the game or just your own?
