People pay good money to enter tournaments, so they'll do anything to win. Like rules lawyering, trash talking or Wescoe checking.
You've just paid $25 to enter a tournament. If calling a judge has a small (like <1%) chance of getting your opponent a game loss or DQ for whatever reason (IDK, maybe your opponent plays spells before tapping lands for mana and you're not OK with that), aren't you going to just take 5 minutes to call one over?
Lol. Yes, sacrifice all your morals and ethics for a chance at 3 draft sets
1. If it goes to time in a round where a draw would knock both of us out. (Say, for example, we are both X-1-1 in an 8 round PTQ). Even then, I will only concede if it looks like my opponent would likely have the win (and he isn't a huge jerk. otherwise, enjoy your draw)
2. If I have no shot, and a concession gets my opponent into top X.
So pretty much - if a draw and a loss are the same for you, take the loss and be a nice guy. Round 1, you are very much alive, and certainly play for the draw. Nothing wrong on your part.
any ideas on how to beat esper post board? they side in better counters in flashfreeze, disruption in the form of inquisition/duress/sculler, and some around here even play mindlock orb. How do you beat this strategy? Winning game 1 isn't a problem.
I had my deck stolen out of my bag, while wearing it, in between round 3 and 4 of the sunday ptq. It was mythic conscription so I'm out 800 bucks. I'm very safe with my stuff, and getting something stolen (while it is on your back!) is heartbreaking.
I'll sign up for the beta, but the fact that it's a mini-transaction game immediately turns me off - MTG and MODO are taking enough of my money piece by piece as it is.
I've been seeing it a lot in dailies, the one that runs scapeshift with goyf, bb elf, jittes, punishing grove combo, etc. I think it looks pretty solid and am going to start testing it, but would like to know if anyone knew the origin. Thanks
back in saga, i played a homebrew junk diver/aluren/goblin bombardment combo deck with ensnaring bridges and a bunch of tutors. Didn't really work but I pulled the combo on an unsuspecting victim which kind of made it worth it.
Also played a janky lifeline deck back then. If only my Johnny to Spike conversion happened sooner, saga block would have been a good time for it.
What is the usual turnout for events here? Starting times? I'm about an hour away but I have family in the immediate area so on occasional weekends I'm around.
Any reason besides player preference you're switching to all sealed? I'd much rather prefer draft, but obviously you need to accommodate your immediate player base first.
My local FNM more or less never uploads tournament results due to what I'm assuming the new TO not knowing how. Looking at the DCI there are at least 8 outstanding events.
How easy would it be for me to get onto DCI reporter to upload the events for them?
As for the fella saying 5CB messes the mana base up too much, take a look at the base for the CWS; all I do is run 3 more vivids and switch a couple basics for filters. The issue isn't with getting 3 blue, its getting non-CITP lands one T2-4 if you ask me. After that, CITP away, but those turns are normally crucial.
I agree that that's the main issue, but cryptic for me was only good 50% of the time. When you can cast it, it's obviously nuts, but other times I just wished it was something more aggro, especially as you said when I had a slow start due to vivids. The decider was a playtest game where I lost with 4 cryptics in hand - an anomaly for sure, but it convinced me to lower the power a little for more consistency.
